Mount TBR 2013 Reading Challenge discussion

So I'm starting off small because I have a habit of picking up new books and forgetting about my TBR pile.

I started a few books in December and I haven't got very far with them so I'll include them in this challenge (it seems I can do that, given the rules of the challenge). The first is Among Others which I'm reading in audiobook form. The second is The Stark Munro Letters which I'm reading on my Kobo Mini (a Christmas present to myself). I've only just finished the first letter so I still have quite a bit left.

I've just finished the first book from my TBR list, Beauty Queens. It's about teen girls who are off to compete in a beauty pageant (Miss Teen Dream) whose plane crashes on an island. It's a lot better than I thought it would be, but starts off kind of slow. The audiobook version is excellent, although I don't know how well it would work in print.

An interesting first choice! ;)

I've started other books, but the humour in Beauty Queens is what made me get through it. I'm going to finish my re-read of The Hobbit (this time in audiobook form), but that doesn't count since I only had a few chapters left before the new year.

I've now finished Among Others (which I loved). I'm now listening to Anne Hathaway read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. She's fantastic.

I've finished The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. It's a pretty great book. I'm curious about the other 14 books in the series, but I don't think they'd be quite as good as this one without Anne Hathaway.

I think I'm going to start the audiobook for A Princess of Mars.

I've finished A Princess of Mars and I'm in the midst of Monster Hunter International which I liked for a while, but I'm finding that it's been going on a bit too long (I think).

I've put Monster Hunter International on hold for the moment and I'm instead listening to Distrust That Particular Flavor which is a collection of non-fiction essays by William Gibson. Aside from the misspelling of "flavour" in the title (it should be spelt the Canadian/UK way since he lives in Canada), I'm really enjoying it.

I've finished Distrust That Particular Flavor which was generally excellent. I'm starting the audiobook of Inkheart.

I've been thinking about upping the goal, but I have a lot of new books I'm interested in reading that won't qualify. I'll see. I'm currently reading a couple books that qualify, so once I'm done those, I'll meet this goal.

I think most everything qualifies, if you own it. The mission isn't so much gifts & purchases from a strict time period. All is well, if we use what we own and clean it 'off the shelf'. :-)

Actually (as challenge host)--"all is well" if you own it pre-2013.
