Sofia (Bookish Wanderess) (sofia-bookishwanderess) | 221 comments Like we won't have a book of the month until february, please leave comments about the books you are currently reading or make recommendations of books that you thought were very good and you think the other members should read.

message 2: by Kimi (new)

Kimi (hateeverybeautifulday) I'm currently reading Life of Pi, and I'm really enjoying it :)

That's great !! I haven't read it but i saw the movie and it's so amazing that i can imagine how good the book is :) I will read it soon!

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm reading In My Own Write and A Spaniard In The Works by John Lennon. It's a very ... different book.

message 5: by Kimi (new)

Kimi (hateeverybeautifulday) I finished Life of Pi last night (it was fantastic.) and began reading A Street Cat Named Bob. I dunno if you can get it outside of the UK, but if you are a cat-lover and can get your hands on it - Do. It's basically about a homeless guy, who finds a homeless cat, and they save each other. It's Non-Fiction (in the Pets or Paperbacks of 2012 section at Waterstones, could be different elsewhere).

message 6: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 4 comments I'm currently reading A Map in Time and LOTR: Return of the King. They're both quite good! I just finished The Rise of Nine (it's an I am Number Four book) and that was excellent (if you like action packed books).

message 7: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (virginiasymphony) I'm currently reading Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion, and Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia. The movies for both books come out in February, so I'm trying to get them done before then.

message 8: by Amelia (new)

Amelia | 4 comments I've just realised, I wrote a huge introduce yourselves entry... oops.

I've just finished reading The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden (The Coincidence, #1) by Jessica Sorensen and I'm craving the next one. It's not the best of books but it is cute and the storyline can squeeze at your heart. It's a nice easy read but you do find yourself empathising with the characters and forming attachments.

I'm about to start reading Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee . It looks really good and the ratings have been high so far.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished Assassin's Creed: Renaissance but don't really recomend it to anyone who doesn't like a book with a lot of killing and not enough plot. Now I'm excited to start Little Women and Animal Farm

I've had this book on my shel for a while, but I couldn't quite get into it. I mean, I loved the first book, but this one... anyway, I really should give it another try

Aura (Sidney Ellwood's protection squad) (moonlighter) | 4 comments I just ordered a bunch of books, so I will publish them once they arrive, but I am currently reading a relatively unknown book called 'Eggnog' by Joseph Gattuso. He hasn't published any other books yet (this one is on Amazon and I bought it because I thought the description was interesting), and it's GENIUS. I'm enjoying it quite a lot.
Before this one, I read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green which I absolutely adored.

message 12: by Shamiah (new)

Shamiah (yourdreamsareeverywhere) | 5 comments I have just finished Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian (SUCH A GOOD SERIES!!) and I am now waiting on my copy of Heroes of Olympus book one, The Lost Hero to arrive from amazon.
I currently have a few books that I have put on hold that I really should finish, but I have The Fault in Our Stars sitting on the shelf and I am told it's a fantastic read. I don't know whether to start a new book or finish the ones i've already stared!

message 13: by Gloria (new)

Gloria Stendal | 3 comments I am currently re-reading Mary Stewart's The Crystal Cave (Merlin, #1) (Arthurian Saga, #1) by Mary Stewart .

message 14: by Kimi (new)

Kimi (hateeverybeautifulday) I read all of A Street Cat Named Bob yesterday - it was amazing!! If you're a cat lover, go and read it right away!
I began reading Valentina by Evie Blake yesterday. I got given a Proof Copy by the publishers (as a bookseller, publishers tend to bombard you with free proof copies!) but I have to say.... eh. It's okay. I'm about a third of the way through it at the mo. I always finish every book I start, so I will keep you updated, but as it stands, I'm not overly impressed and wouldn't recommend it.

message 16: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 87 comments I'm reading Clarissa by Samuel Richardson at the moment, I tend to translate it to modern English in my head as i read so it's a bit easier to get through, almost half way through, it isn't too bad but I'm not sure that it's one of my favourites yet.. we'll see :)

message 17: by Claire (new)

Claire | 27 comments I'm currently in between books because it's exam week and I'm a little weary of getting caught in a book and forgetting/choosing not to study, but I'm planning on reading The Diviners by Libba Bray (I think, sorry I'm on an iPhone and can't do the insert book thing).
However, I want to strongly recommend the Emperor's Edge series by Lindsay Buroker. Anyone who likes adventure mixed with humor in a story told by a gang of quirky characters should check it out. Lindsay is a self published author, so that, in my opinion, makes her cooler, but also sort of limits where you can find her books. Anyway, they're good books.

message 18: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacy9998) I'm reading Ashen Winter by Mike Mullin, it's the second of a three book series. It's a young adult book with an interesting plot and it's an easy read.

message 19: by Vivian (new)

Vivian Mai | 10 comments I'm currently reading many books, I'm stuck under a pile and I have no way out. (my fault for buying so many) I'll name some, if you want to know more then check on my profile. (which I doubt :3)

- Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
- It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini
- A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
- Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey

(They're all good so far, but I'm in exam mode so we'll have to wait for 2 more weeks before I have a final opinion)

message 20: by Kimi (new)

Kimi (hateeverybeautifulday) I finished Valentina last night, & stick by my original thoughts - I wouldn't recommend it, I only gave it 2 stars.
Currently a few chapters into Amsterdam by Ian McEwan. I'm enjoying it so far :)

message 21: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (mickeys80) | 2 comments I have recently finished two different books The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks, which was excellent, and The Mortal Instruments City of Bones, which I really enjoyed and it had some surprises I didn't see coming.
I am currently reading Beautiful Creatures I'm only about 60 pages or so into it but so far it has my attention and I think it will be very good.

message 22: by Brittany (new)

Brittany (spookymunchkin) | 197 comments I just finished Beautiful Creatures two days ago so now I'm reading Beautiful Darkness. I'm also reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, The Casual Vacancy, Looking For Alaska, Forbidden, Elixir, and 50 Shades of Grey.

message 23: by emily (new)

emily (blueeyedbiblio) | 2 comments I'm reading Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi. I picked it up at the library after hearing some good things from epicreads, and so far I've enjoyed it. I'm also reading a graphic novel, The Complete Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi (I believe). That is about the revolution in Iran in the 80's, and it's very good. It's so interesting and it's about the authors life during the revolution and I love the way she made it a graphic novel.

message 24: by Fee (new)

Fee Petrillo (fee_petrillo) | 3 comments I started reading pandemonium by Lauren Oliver last night and it is so good ! It's the second book in the series. I'm already halfway finished with it , if you haven't read the Delirium series you should check it out !

message 25: by Kimi (new)

Kimi (hateeverybeautifulday) Finished Amsterdam (Ian McEwan) the other day, and although it was a short read, I did enjoy it and I would recommend it.
Currently reading Tell-All by Chuck Palahniuk. I'm a big Palahniuk fan, so I have high hopes for this! I haven't gotten very far in yet, and as with most of Palahniuks books, I have to spend time adjusting to the way it's written. It's amazing how one man can create so many different styles of writing!! It's one of the many reasons I love him.

message 26: by Lu (new)

Lu I just read a book called Easy, by Tamara Webber And I recomend it.

There are a lot of deep subjects in the book, but all the story and characters felt so real to me.

message 27: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa Luz Currently in the middle of Delirium by Lauren Oliver. It was recommended to me by a close friend and after reading just the first few chapters I was hooked.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

I am reading the Farro Salfur set and have to say for her being a self published author it's really good definitly recommend it for people that like paranormal!

Farro by Arreana Sulfur by Arreana

message 29: by Julli (new)

Julli (jullim) I'm currently reading Eat, Pray, Love. It's okay, I suppose. I'm excited to read the next book that I'm planning to read, not exactly sure which to pick though! The Kite Runner, the Lovely Bones, Perks of being a wallflower, or Catching Fire!

message 30: by Kennedi (new)

Kennedi (kennedibmth) | 5 comments I recommend the "Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel" series by Michael Scott. I jist finished the last book last night, the whole series is great! To be honest I cried because the ending was so epic and crazy xD

message 31: by Lizz♥ (new)

message 32: by Cora (new)

Cora (missteacher333) | 106 comments I am reading Death in the Desert: The Ted Binion Homicide Case and it's interesting more so because I've lived in Vegas off and on since 1971. Critique coming soon!

message 33: by Ash (new)

Ash My friend and I are currently reading Les Misérables. He's read it before while this is a new one for me. He is actually attempting to translate it into Irish as we read it (he is Irish, so he knows the language). I'm not too far into it, but I'm excited to read it.

Wow, that's a huge novel your reading. I read Richardson's Pamela last year, and I have to say I felt every tedious page of it.

I have just finished it. You should give it another try, all the magical creatures are starting to appear. It comes across as a bit of a filler book, so I'm expecting the third one to be amazing.

Yeah... And with all the noise my sister makes, it's hard to read anything at all! But I'm gonna try this book again, or my boyfrind will murder me because he loves the series and is reading the fourth book and has no one to talk about it... haha

I will! I think the problem for me is that it starts too slow and then I get tired of it before it gets to the good part. But I loved the first book, so I have no choice but to try this one again.

message 38: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey I am currently reading...
I Never Promised You A Rose Garden I Never Promised You a Rose Garden by Joanne Greenberg

It is a really great read especially if you are interested in the human mind. This book gives a wonderful insight into the mind of a young female schizophrenic and how she copes with her "illness" in a mental hospital. I am not all the way through it yet, but I would definitely recommend it.

message 39: by Lina (new)

Lina (beinglina) | 10 comments Currently I'm reading The Lost Symbol (Robert Langdon, #3) by Dan Brown
I'm in love with Dan Brown's books. The stories behind it, they're so interesting and deep. So many unexpected things happen! Really exciting. I love it.

message 40: by Kelley (new)

Kelley (kells87) | 11 comments I just recently finished read Cinder (Book 1 of The Lunar Series) by Marissa Meyer. I would highly recommend it! Yes it is based on the Cinderella fairy tale but it is oh, so different! If you like fantasy/futuristic story tellings, this is for you!

I am also in the middle of the House of Night series by PC and Kristin Cast. It is YA but I can't stop reading it! Also recommended if you are interested in YA and fantasy/vampire fiction.

message 41: by Claire (new)

Claire | 27 comments I am sort of reading Eternal Eden, but I've almost given up on it, too much mush for me, and also Indelible, but I'm having some trouble getting through it, not quite enough action. I'm almost done with Uncertainty, and I'll probably start Luminosity soon (I've really been loving this series so far, it's actually a decent ghost book), but I also want to read the Beautiful Creatures series before the movie comes out. I read the first one awhile ago, and wanted to reread that and read the rest. But I also have The Diviners up there on my TBR list. Oh! I just finished Inbetween and it was really cute, a little lacking in excitement, but really cute.
