Melanie M. (MissMello) | 21 comments If I had to change a chapter out of the book Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi I would change the chapter "The Bicycle" to "No Faith" because Marjane had Exactly NO FAITH what so ever in her self, she is talking about how she wants to be on strike and on the revolution but she doubt her self to much to go on strike with her mom and dad so she stays home with her maid but a few weeks later Marjane and her maid went on strike but then came home to late and her mom was so livid. In the chapter she talks about how she want to be a Prophet and says she talks to god (In her imagination) and she study's and does everything she has to in order to be a Prophet. When her mom and dad ask her what she wants to be when she grows up and says she wants to be a doctor so that is one example how she has to faith in her self whats so ever; she probaley thinks thats her parents wont approve.

Kailey | 23 comments In the fantasy book"Alice's Adventure in Wonderland" written by Chris Riddell a chapter title i would change is chapter 6 titled: Pig and Pepper. I woyu;d change this title because isonly part of a song in which creatures sing apon her visit. I would rename the title: The duchess, cok, the cat and the baby. I would change it to this because it is the main creatures in this chapter who inform he on who the queen is and what happens.

Jack Brill | 41 comments In the book " babe & me" by Dan Gutman a chapter title I would change is chapter 1 titled: the tingling sensation to a new sensation because they are talking about Babe Ruth as a rook and tingling doesn't really describe something new and something that everyone loves and I think the new sensation fits perfectly.

Mark | 33 comments In the book, Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, the chapter title I would change would be “The Cigarette”. I would change the title to “Growing Up” since the chapter mainly describes why Marjane wishes to grow up quickly and become an adult. The chapter didn’t really discuss cigarettes until the very when she seals her act of rebellion against her mother’s dictatorship by smoking the cigarette she stole from her uncle. She writes “with this first cigarette, I kissed childhood goodbye.” Now Marjane feels she is grown up. Only twelve at the moment, she would like to be cool like the fourteen year old adolescents and cut class along with them. This illustrates how badly she wishes to be grown up.

In Bill Gutman's nonfiction biography book "Lance Armstrong: A Biography," it is about Armstrong's life growing up to be who he is today. It is about Lance's childhood and how he got into a cyclist. Lance was born on September.18.1971 in Oak Cliff, Texas. He had no father, but then soon got his last name when his mother married Terry Armstrong. At the age of seven, Lance got his first bike and he loved it more than anything. Still, it didn't catch most of his attention. Lance was interesting into swimming. He was very good at it and even ended up as one of the state best. Lance wasn't good at anything else so mainly biking and swimming was his favorite. As Lance grew older, he started doing bike racing. He was always happy when there was success, even a little. Lance never gave up no matter what like when he was once hit by a car very hard. Doctors said he couldn't race, it was a zero percent chance as they said. Still, Armstrong punched through it and finish the race. He was known as a hero at a very young age. One text from the first chapter on page 7 was, "There was very little about Lance Armstrong's beginnings that would suggest a future Tour de France champion. But then again, there is very little about any young American boy that would suggest that." That showed what the first chapter was mainly about. The chapter explained how Lance grew up through hard times to be a hero today. The chapter is named "The Beginnings of an Athletic Life." If I was to change that chapter's title, I would re-title it "Cyclist Star's Road for Take-off." I would re-title the chapter that because the title would be mainly be about the beginning of Armstrong's life that leads to his career and that is close to the idea of it. I think any title that would be close to the beginning of Armstrong's career would work. My idea of the title is like about Armstrong being a plane. Armstrong is preparing on the take-off road and when he takes off, then he is off into his career.

Justin Yu | 20 comments In Paul Tough non-fiction book How Children Succeed, it is about how kids back then were failing at a school called Fenger High School. Less than 4 % of kids were passing in this school, but some helped them. If I were to change the name of a chapter in this book it would be How to Fail(and How Not to) to How not to fail because they don't really specify that much of failing kids in this chapter, as from what I read so far. As specified before it said "fewer than 4% of Fenger students met or exceeded standards on the statewide college-readiness test..."(4). This tells me at least 95% of people in that school are passing and are eligible for college. The rest are failing that test and are probably failing all their classes as well.

Elva C. | 40 comments In the book, Red Scarf Girl by Ji-Li Jiang, a non-fiction memoir, the chapter that I am reading is called, "The Sound of Drums and Gongs" I would change the title to, "Reducing Fourolds" The reason that I would change it to that is because the central idea is how Ji-Li's family are afraid of the Red Guards finding out that they have the "FourOlds" and that they "Exploited" Song Po-po, their housekeeper. Even though it seems that the part of the book is bad, it is also good, because Ji-Li is happy that they let Song Po-po go, and that she is not exploited her. Later on in the chapter, the whole family decided that they have to destroy the fourolds in the family. Ji-Li states, "Ji-yun and I were over joyed. We sat amid the piles of silks, picking up pearls and putting them in a jar" (95). This quote shows how Ji-Li was enjoying doing things that would help the stuff in her home not consider as fourolds. Even though they did not want to be caught by the Red Guards, they do not want to get rid of the things that they have, so they thought about using the stuff and use it for other purposes. This is the reason why I would name the title, "Reducing Fourolds"

Steven Lin | 27 comments In the non fiction book Guys Write for Guys Read by Jon Scieszka the chapter that i am reading is called In the non fiction book Guys Write for Guys Read by Jon Scieszka the chapter that i am reading is called "A Day at the Zoo". I would change this chapter to "An important day". I would change this chapter to this because in the chapter Jack goes to the zoo for the first time. He learns many things with is mom and he face many things that he never encountered before. He remembers this day and he finds it really important. He is faced with a janitor when he went down to a loin’s pit. The janitor had found him and told him how dangerous it was. If his mother had found out about it, he would get in trouble. This moment was really important to Jack because he would always tell his mom what happens, but this time he did not tell his mom. This was his firs time he did not tell is mom. This is the reason why i would name the chapter "An important day".

Trinity Burgos | 31 comments In the non-fiction book Ten Real Life Stories illustarted by Hal Taylor, The one story title I would change in my book would be ''rowing the bus'' by Paul Loagan. I would change this chapter title to ''odd ball out''. The reason why i would change my title to that onw would be because this story is mostly about him inside of school not just on a bus ride. It's also mostly about him being picked because of his image and not being able to make as many friends as others do, and him not being as popular or having good clothing becayse of the poverty his family goes through, even though parts of those problems may happen on the bus. Also, being neglected by other and not being appriciated. Text shows ''when the unlucky team captain was forced to call my name, I would trudge over to the team, know that no one there liked or wanted me.'' This text prove that he is not treated like anybody else in the school but he is also not wanted to be friends with another. It also shows that he is not treated the way he would want to be treated and he's left out.

Emily | 14 comments In the non-fiction book The Story Of Blima by Shirley Russak Watchel. If I had to, I would re-title this book to Life At War instead of The Story Of Blima, because this book showed at first how Blima is and how she lives. But after its when the war happened and how the conflict happened and then her life has changed a lot from it because of what they made her go through and the difficulties in finding all her family member's back. This book is mostly about what happened while at the war.

Monica | 43 comments Moira Young's second fantasy book, Dust Lands creates a human turmoil on the way things are in life. But if I had to change a chapter in this book, I would change chapter 1. It shouldn't be named Silverlake. It should be named "Captured by Strangers" In the book, Saba's brother Lugh had been captured by 4 cloaked horseman and she didn't know what to do with them. They had also also killed one of her neighbors and her father. She was just too fed up to live in the lonely house any longer. She wanted to go find her brother and bring him home fast. "I start walkin. I don't look back. I ain't ever coming back to this place agin. Dead Lake. Dead land. Dead life." (41). This quote shows her uptight feelings about leaving the red plains of what's left in there. All what Saba had been thinking all along was about saving her brother, Lugh. Her pa forgotten. Theres a long journey ahead of her and she would walk all the way down with all her strength.

Jevel Gilbert | 18 comments "The Hound of the baskervilles" by Athur Conan Doyle is about sherlock and Dr.watson trying to chase the scientist but, the scientist is putting clues all over the town they live in. One day, sherlock found the scientist and started to fight while dr.watson stop's the bombs. Sherlock almost got killed by the guy trying to hang him. Dr.Watson was being a hero by saving sherlock and beating up the crminals."The scientist put the trigger by the boats in the other side of the town". This proves that Sherlock was trying to stop the bombs. Also, the trigger was stoped by putting the bomb in the boat, let it go to the center of the ocean and let it blow.
