Kimi (hateeverybeautifulday) You know, there are some book that you always meant to read, yet for some reason or another, you've not gotten round to it yet!
List them here, and maybe it might give you a little inspiration to finally read it!

Some of mine are The Catcher in the Rye, The Great Gatsby and Stardust.

Sofia (Bookish Wanderess) (sofia-bookishwanderess) | 221 comments This happens to me a lot, i only remember some:

-Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl, i have meant to read them since the series premiere on tv (and that was years ago)
-Percy Jackson, i have wanted to read this book for years and i haven't gotten around to it yet.
-Bloodlines, i have wanted to read it since i finished Vampire Academy and i don't know why i haven't done it.

Claire | 27 comments When I was younger I felt like I had to read charlotte's web, but I never did. Eventually, it just got chalked off as not a book for me. More recently, I've been meaning to read Insurgent by Veronica Roth and City of Fallen Angels by Cassie Clare. I've had both of them since they came out and I read between 50 and 100 pages of each but... Just haven't gotten through them.

message 4: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 87 comments Gone with the Wind, War and Peace, LOTR, The Hobbit - those are all ones i wish i had've read by now and that i want to read so badly, i think i'm just scared of the challenge! next year i'm making my 'big book' reading list, and they're all on it :) it's my goal to finish them all

message 5: by Alejandra (new)

Alejandra Juárez (isho13) I still have to read the LOTR trilogy, and all the books related to it, but I don't intend to do it until I can get my hands on a printed version, bought with my own money. I'm just weird like that. XP

message 6: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (mashaw1) | 6 comments To Kill a Mocking Bird, I know it's an iconic book that all should read, but just never picked it up. The same with The Grapes of Wrath and A Tale of Two Cities. Both regarded as literary works of art, but just never got around to them. Maybe they'll go on my summer reading list.

Ashley-may (coffeeandclassics) | 8 comments I have a lot of the chunkier classics sitting on my bookshelf that I have never gotten around to reading, Vanity Fair, David Copperfield and Bleak House come to mind. It just seems like a big time commitment when there are so many other books in my tbr pile! Same goes for big/long series, I just got around to reading the first Harry Potter this summer, still have not read TLOTR or A Song Of Fire and Ice yet.

message 9: by Ju (last edited Jan 17, 2013 03:11AM) (new)

Ju (wraithlair) LOTR too! Almost everyone loves it and the movies are an Oscar success so it has to be worth the read yet I haven't got around to actually reading the series. Also the Vampire Academy series which seems cliche but everyone thinks it's amazing so I have been trying to fit it somewhere into my life.

You should definitely make reading Perks of Being a Wallflower a top priority! I couldn't put it down and it was read in a day

message 18: by Christine (new)

Christine (christinekinsella) | 63 comments This past summer I dedicated much of my reading time to classics (books I remember as required reading in high school) - Great Expectations was one and The Scarlet Letter another. Other books I'd like to get to are: The Grapes of Wrath, Johnathan Livingston Seagull, The Hobbit and LOTR. Just a note on Great Expectations...I remember in school, when it was REQUIRED reading, thinking it "boooorrrrinng" but when I read it again I found it to be quite fun and even a little humorous on occasions.

I'll make sure to read it soon! I love books that you can't put down. The only problem is that once I really get into a book, I won't sleep until I finish it.

message 20: by Keely (new)

Keely I've been meaning to read The Perks of Being a Wallflower for months and now I finally am and I'm in love with it!

message 21: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (warpedline) Mariam wrote: "Harry Potter"

HARRY POTTER? YOU'VE NEVER READ HARRY POTTER?!!?

*struggling to control breathing*

Definitely read it. You're literary experience will never be complete if you don't.

For me, I don't really know. I've read most classics - Great Gatsby, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, etc - so I don't really aspire that much. Just whatever is on my wishlist!

Also, is The Perks of Being a Wallflower actually good? I downloaded the sample on my Kindle and I wasn't impressed. I'm not sure if I want to or need to read it anymore.

message 22: by Belinda (new)

Belinda | 6 comments I've always been meaning to read Fallen and Charlotte's Web. Both books where presents, but i'm not sure why I just didn't get round to it. I've also got to read Insurgent. :~)

But why so? The book is better than the movies and apparently there are quite some things that change in between them.

message 26: by Amy (new)

Amy (fictionistia) Everyone MUST read Harry Potter! Idk how you didn't already! This goes for perks too!

And I really want to read Anne Rice- Interview with a vampire, vampire lestat, queen of the dammed, ect. I love vampires I just keep putting the books off:/

message 27: by Alejandro (new)

Alejandro | 10 comments Well coming from a crappy school system I pretty much have never read any of the classics that most people read while in school. so that's what I have on my reading list. Sometimes I wonder what the hell I did for four years.

message 28: by Dorottya (new)

Dorottya (dorottya_b) | 66 comments Mine (apart from some Hungarian classics):

Mariluz (azulmarino) 'A child called It' I've always wanted to read but once another expected book comes out to the end of my shelf, I'm having to read it for a class so after 8 years I will finally get to read it.

The book a child called it is really sad and a great story

message 33: by Viraj (new)

Viraj (vs94) I've been meaning to read Lolita by Vladmir Nabokov for the longest time now, everyone tells me how great it is, and from what I've read about it, it seems pretty great, the problem is that I can never find it when I go to the library or book shopping haha, so I guess I'll have to order it. Also, The Picture Of Dorian Gray is another book a lot of people have recommended to me, but I still haven't read it.

message 34: by Teri (new)

Teri | 401 comments Always wanted to read Invitation to a Beheading by Nabokov...more recently Perks of being a Wallflower. And Sherlock Holmes, I actually have the complete collection and have never read them...

I've received many opinions about that book. Many say it's a masterpiece, many others say it's the craft of a perverted mind. When you read it, please share your opinion. :) ((Btw, I haven't read it yet))

message 37: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (littlenatalie) I pledge to finish Pride & Prejudice! I love anything based on Jane Austen, movies & such, but have never actually read her books, so I have to finish my favorite. And I really want to love it... So I hope I do!

message 38: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey Lots of people on here are saying they still need to read The Hobbit and the LOTR trilogy. I have read both multiple times and they are well worth it if you are up for a challenge! Some of my all time favorite books, don't put them off. Haha

message 39: by Haley (new)

Haley I'm not a huge fan of sci-fi, but I have the book Dune on my shelf and keep having people tell me to read it. I just have so may other books to read that I haven't had the time!

message 40: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Alejandra wrote: "I still have to read the LOTR trilogy, and all the books related to it, but I don't intend to do it until I can get my hands on a printed version, bought with my own money. I'm just weird like that..."

you won't be disappointed when you do. they are amazing. especially The Silmarillion. I think that's his best one.

message 41: by Michelle (new)

Michelle I've always meant to read The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie. But I have so many lonely books sitting on my shelf that I want to cuddle up with first.

message 42: by Aleka (new)

Aleka (kalir) I've read the satanic verses and found it over-rated.Although I did like Rushdie's writting style per se.
Always meant to read The Neuromancer by William Gibson and still haven't finished it, as well as The Orchid Thief, which really drags.I've had that book for 10 years. The film adaptation was better, although addmitedly I wish theyvwould stop adapting books as films. The medium has a large part to play in the storys transmission and wgat works on paper doesn't alqays work as a book.

message 43: by Brie ☾ (new)

Brie ☾ (midnightxreader) Jane Austen's works and Wuthering Heights ... always meant to, just never got around to it.

message 44: by Heather (new)

Heather (blondiebookworm) I always meant to read LOTR and The Hobbit. I also always wanted to read all of Shakespeare's plays.

message 45: by Ginny (new)

Ginny The hobbit (+ LOTR really but tried once and quite frankly found it boring and hard to read), The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (other two in series were brilliant just havnt got round to the last book in Larsson's trilogy), A child called it, and a whole lot of classics Charles Dickens, Eliott etc.

message 46: by Lillian (new)

Lillian (lilliebear) Oh, thank God I'm not the only one! I purchased the whole series of Lord of the Rings, even The Hobbit and The Silmarillion. I'm almost finished with The Hobbit, and still have yet to even consider the rest. *cough* I purchased these books months ago.
