The Bloody Book Club! discussion

Last year was a pretty shitty year in a lot of ways (for me anyway), and I didn't even read very many good books! But I am still going to post my top 10 books that I've read for the year, as I know everyone is dying to seem my list! I will post it soon, but in the meantime, anyone else have any top books of the year lists they'd like to discuss? Or any other lists (I love lists!)?

Thanks, William. I guess I shouldn't complain. It was mostly a lot of little stuff that added up to make me very grumpy throughout the year. And like I said, I didn't seem to read a lot of great books this year. That being said, here's my list:

And the #1 book I read for the year was...

1. Ice Station

I was hesitant to make this my #1 book, as it is not a horror book, but what the hell - figured I'd mix it up a bit this time! And it was such out of control action, I couldn't help but love it!

By the way, William, looks like you've read some good ones this year. I really liked Misery and The Mailman. And I love Richard Laymon, so I'm sure I will like The Stake when I finally get to that one (it's one of the few of his left that I haven't read yet). And I really have to get to I Am Legend - there's really no excuse at this point for my having not read that one yet!

Great list Bloodman.I haven't read a single one(that's a few more for tbr pile).I have been wanting to read Swan Song for years now,and every time i go to read it,I'll always put it aside for something shorter.I need to knuckle down and read it.I just noticed the Ed Lee one,I've been meaning to give him a try for ages now,is Slither a good place to start?

Yeah, the long books are always intimidating to me, but I know everyone loves Swan Song, so I figured I better get to it - and it was pretty good.

Regarding Edward Lee, I thought Slither was one of his better ones. He's kind of hit or miss for me - some I've liked a lot and some have just been okay. That being said, I have only read his Leisure releases, and I hear that his books that are released by the more independent publishers are more bloody and gruesome and such. I think people tend to like those ones better. I keep meaning to get to one of those (like The Bighead (I hear that's a good one)), but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I'll have to add that to my list of must reads for this year!

Thanks Bloodman.I Have City Infernal and slither ,so It's a toss up between those two.I've heard bad things about The Bighead,so I'm not sure i would have the stomach for that one.lol!!

I actually liked both of those, William. City Infernal and Slither were two of my favorites of Edward Lee's - so in my opinion, you're good to start with either of those (for whatever my opinion's worth). If I remember correctly, City Infernal has some gross stuff in it, but I think you can handle it!
