The group store relaunch 2013

Otherwise you'll be having someone like Darren wanting his in the sci-fi/fan/rom/com/travel/withatwistoflemon category.

It's been around for nearly as long as the group has Marianne. The problem is, the group is a victim of its own success and there are now masses of threads to scroll through. I never go more than half way down - I stop at book Recommendations"

Yikes!! I can't believe I missed it - I am blushing! I am going to have to pay more attention...

Ok, I am going to hunt this down now because for some reason i can only see the books listed at the bottom of the UK Amazon Kindle Forum page and the "currently reading ones" at the top " but no group store. No store either when I click the discussion threads - at least not as it looks when I follow the link Simon gave at the beginning ...

As Patti says, my plan was to get authors to post a link to the book on amazon UK (a prerequisite) and tell me what category they want it in.
I'm just not sure why anyone would bother using it to be honest..... except we get a tiny commission every time someone buys through it which I can use to do competitions etc.

What's wrong with that? I can't see why it wasn't on the original list.

I can see I will end up with a lot of categories if I'm not careful!"
Some can be combined -
Crime/Thriller/Adventure and SciFi/Fantasy.
How about the five most popular categories & "other"

Lol!
*Note to self: must be VERY nice to Rosemary so my books don't get listed under 'so-so' or 'bleh'!!!*

That category is 'Pratchettesque'

Does thus mean in a few books time we might be looking at Sir Darren?

Could authors just mark their book as 'suitable for Y/A' ?
That way we'd do away with a category.
Same with Humour. For example I'd class Will's books as Fantasy, but with Humour.

Although I'm not sure any of our authors actually write in it.

One of the best definitions of Y/A is 'Is this book you've written one you'd like your mother to read'
I think the problem is that there is 'Young Adult' and there are books that are 'Suitable for Young Adult'
The first category I never read, (I'm not sure we had them back then anyway) and my daughters tended to ignore them, mainly because they worked their way through my books.
Books mentioned in this topic
Alice Parker's Metamorphosis (other topics)Bernard and the Bibble (other topics)
I have closed the group store for now.
I would like to completely revamp it soon and when I do I will wipe everything out and start again.
Any other suggestions how we can make the store more useful will be most welcome
