I've wanted to read this book for quite some time, and I figured I'd better read it before the movie hit HBO and Netflix.
Honestly, I thought I'd never get past the first chapter. If you've not started reading the book yet, I would advise skipping Part I and beginning with Part II - The Pacific Ocean.
One thing's for sure - I learned quite a bit about the eating habits of hyenas. Definitely not for the squeamish reader.
