Judithe | 6566 comments Hello team! Can't wait to meet ya all here, and looking forward to reading with you!!

First edit: Well, I don't think we're doing team names (sigh of relief, cause every creative speck of my brain matter has disappeared...and a good number of the memory cells seem to be missing as well!), but we do need to decide a team captain. All of us are new at this, and will surely be supportive of each other as we're all learning! That said, I'm also going to pass here on the captain-hat (but willing to be as helpful as possible to our lovely leader!) RL is crazy (heading into insanely crazy from this Saturday!)

The happiest thing is I'll finally be able to settle down when picking a book cause I KNOW "this" is what to read this week.

OK. Back to paper grading, and (almost!) wishing it were the weekend so I could stop dithering over which book to pick (and ending with no pick at all...it's very, very sad!)

Second edit: Peeked around (yes, I should be working, but...) and we need a name...a brilliant name!

Judithe | 6566 comments Boise! That's rather close to my hometown, but quite far from my current one! (I'm in Tokushima, Japan...find Osaka on a map, then trail your finger directly down to the next island...you'll probably land directly over my house). We're not as cold as someplaces...but no insulation (or not enough!) Looking forward to SPRING! Funny how we have so many from the IL area!

Rachel-RN (rachelgoodbyeborders) | 1368 comments Some tidbits on the number 9 (courtesy of Wikipedia):
Maybe these will help us think of a name.....

*There are nine muses in Greek mythology (Calliope (epic poetry), Clio (history), Erato (erotic poetry), Euterpe (lyric poetry), Melpomene (tragedy), Polyhymnia (song), Terpsichore (dance), Thalia (comedy), and Urania (astronomy)).
*It takes nine days (for an anvil) to fall from heaven to earth, and nine more to fall from earth to Tartarus
*In J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth, there are nine rings of power given to men, and consequently, nine ringwraiths. Additionally, The Fellowship of the Ring consists of nine companions, representing the free races and also as a positive mirror of the nine ringwraiths
*Nine is a composite number, its proper divisors being 1 and 3. It is 3 times 3 and hence the third square number. Nine is a Motzkin number. It is the first composite lucky number, along with the first composite odd number.

@Rachel - that would be great if you could be captain.

I can help. I'm just unable to post with connected links in them. I'm co-captain on another team challenge and halfway through my links stopped working correctly - so I do the background stuff and she posts - if that makes sense, lol

Judithe | 6566 comments Rachel, congrats on captainship! HOORAY!

I like Divine Nine, but am OK with the others, too.

Sorry...I'll be around more tomorrow...EXTREME STRESS...son taking first high school entrance exam RIGHT NOW! Still figuring out who will pick him up after interviews this afternoon, coordinating all this while teaching classes (now enjoying lunch) after having had about three and half hours sleep 'cause had to get his lunch made, and drive him there (at the same time as the other 1000 -literally!- examinees) on the first snowy day in town this winter...great way to top off a week that also held a very unexpected funeral, and the start of finals (once finals start, it's easy for me...not so much for the students though).

SOOOOOOOOOO....next week, I will be around a little more, the week after that, I'll be practically living here! Sorry about my semi-MIA status so far...always checking out the thread, even if I'm not posting much!!!

LOL haven't opened it yet and was thinking of switching to Insatiable by Opal Carew as it will work for 2-3 challenges and the other will only work for one... I've been enjoying surfing the net instead of reading like I should be ☺
But when I get to it I'll let you know. I've heard good things about it.

~Melissa~ | 1616 comments Rachel ~ I haven't read Moira Rogers before... is she good...what author for pnr would you compare her to?

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

People, I have a basic doubt....

After this week's draw has been done, and the color has been decided, should we read a book and then, post its rating together???

Or, should we first update which book we are going to read, and then update the ratings and reviews after we are finished with the book????

message 43: by Rachel-RN (new)

Rachel-RN (rachelgoodbyeborders) | 1368 comments When color announced let everyone know your choice. Then when you finish post your review on this thread:-) (With rating and date finished)

Let me think on Moira Rogers. What I've read I've really liked.

Judithe | 6566 comments FYI, I'm in Japan...and, it's 11:45 p.m. on Saturday night, right now. I think Steph said a 9 a.m. or so post...will run check, If that is correct, 9 hours and 10 minutes from NOW, where ever you are!

message 49: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

There's a link about time zone, it's 9 a.m. (+/-) Japan Time (aka, my time! LOL! And Steph's) so do the math from the previous post. In that link, Lauren wrote about it being 2 a.m. for her time zone. Rachel, how is the time for you? If it's an OMG time of day, I can hit the randomizer link for us (have kids...and early riser spouse...8 a.m. is sleeping in! now...) But, no worries for me on that, (at least until it's that win-defining-move...) what works best for all!

Judithe | 6566 comments Math help...just checked world clock. Boise (aka Rachel) is 8 a.m. Saturday, Japan is 12:00 a.m. Sunday. So, that means, Boise's "9 a.m. Japan time" is 5 p.m. Saturday, right? (It's been a long day...)
