(ツ) Has I hated the detective character, totally unnecessary plot line.

Mechelle Jackson I thought the detective added to the story. It made her realize even though she could be attracted to someone else there would never be anyone she loved more. I loved this book.

Lauren (aplpeach) I hated how long it took for them to get together and work things out.

message 4: by Kate (new)

Kate yes I hated that too! all that time wasted between them, they should have just talked to each other! stupid Ty.

Mary Mooney I hated the way Tyler treated them both but it worked out in the end. And yes they should have talked to each other instead of Tyler. Loved this book!

April Dominguez I hated how Tyler's parents never questioned any of the stitches they gave her right in their house. Tyler never reported things even though she got beat within an inch of her life. Also, I hated how Tyler told her "Either sleep with me or get the F out" and then she was his best friend all over again. This author does this thing alot. Writes things that are not believeable at all. I like the story lines but I think she takes too much liberty on the far out unbeleiveable crap.

Ananya Some scenes were unnecessarily extended.Like after Gage and Cass were together.
Also while Gage clearly loved her even wid her past cassi didnt wait to even listen for a friggin second after CAra started blabbering rubbish..

Book_freak Where do I start???? Gosh! x_x
The main characters
Cassi equals annoying girl...she was so perfect
omg she like a Bella 0.o
She was pathetic...& the damsel in distress *gag*
Gage- my most possessive controlling crazzzy guy!
Tyler- ungh...rude & arrogant (just like his cuz)
also over controlling...& character-less
Possibly the only character I did not wish to stick burning pokers through...was Connor! :)
The jumping to conclusions!!!!!! whyyyy??
Clarify people!!!
Cheating Cassi...yeah shes a three-timer & still so 'perfect' (NOT)
& they all STILL ran after her!!?
The writing was kinda bad...bland & monotonous
The sooo unnecessary scenes...scorpion & the Starbucks guy and his mom
She got married at 19??? and she got preggers soon after that o.0
Sooooo much dramatic scenes
...just waaaayyy too much stufffed into one book

So: 1/5 stars

The reaction this book provokes x_x

Chelsea ✨Arielle’s Nebular Ally and Team Acrux✨ I couldn't even finish it..much like Taking Chances, everything is so corny and unbelievable. The dialogue in both could aggravate anyone. Everyone always accepts things at face value and never once think...well this seems odd? Why all of a sudden is this happening? I should have known better than to read another Molly McAdams book...Molly has great ideas, she just executes them very poorly.

Niki Just wondering why she felt that Connor would be an important part to the storyline or a necessary character? I felt it took away from Gage & Cassidy's connection and there was enough of a triangle with Ty and obstacles for them. Every guy in the book was after her and lets face it, she cheated on Gage with Connor. Even worse, remember the way she reacted about Cara and it wasn't even relevant! If Connor was necessary than how come there were no significant girls to for Gage to have even moderate conflicting feelings about like Connor did for Cassidy?

I agree it seemed Gage loved Cassidy more.

Thanks in advance for any discussion!

PS -I love that this was a stand alone novel!!

I completely agree with you. She did that in Taking Chances as well. Wasn't believable at all.

message 13: by Jenn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Jenn i hated how long it took for them to be tegether... how something always came in the way, they didnt communicate so gage keep lying.... the detective being soo out of no where... but i think the idea was great it make me cry all things that happened to Cassidy . :(

Sara The whole detective scenario. It was a distraction I get that but it was weird. I didn't like it.

Sunny Sara wrote: "The whole detective scenario. It was a distraction I get that but it was weird. I didn't like it."

I agree. Their whole relationship was already kind of a big mess without adding in another love triangle.. and it annoyed me how she admitted if she never met Gabe she'd totally be with Conner. wth?

Amalyn I agree with hating how long it took them to get together and I hated how Ty was forgiven so easily... he was so mean to Cassy. I also did not like the way Cassy left when her mom died and didn’t tell Gage anything. But I actually like Connor's character a lot, thought it was a good test for Cassy and Gage. I thought Connor should of gotten his spinoff.

My favorite was probably the epilogue at the end when they’re in the bedroom with the kids... thought it was just perfect!

Rebecca I didn't hate anything about this I was annoyed with ty how he played them!!!

I loved that part to was so sweet I wish it never ended!!!!

Mariely Everything.

Leonor I think the book was good but I think the intensity and regularity of the beatings were a little excessive to be real. I'm not saying that it couldn't happen but it was very unlikely that she would survive for so long and no one did anything about it. I also tought that the change in Tyler's behavier was so abrupt. He had a very unhealty obessession with Cassidy and suddenly he was ok with her and Gage. All in all, the book was still a really good read!

message 22: by Ms. (new)

Ms. Bookworm I hated how Cassi was so embarrassed about her v-card. LIKE SERIOUSLY! SHE WAS ONLY 18 OR 19! That is pretty young no one expects someone to lose your virginity at that age. She just came out of high school! Is McAdams encouraging teenage pregnancy or something? I mean, most people lose it when they're older or even when they're married! It just annoyed me to hell how McAdams was pushing this idea that you must lose your virginity, "everybody's doing it", "join the bandwagon, we have cookies", virgins are inexperienced, therefore they're not good. Well GUESS WHAT McAdams? Everyone's a virgin at one point and everyone needs to learn and a lot of people are self-conscious about that so it's really not doing any help. But I digress, I didn't really care about that scene, but I know that some of my friends who were also reading it with me were getting a little self-conscious. I also hated how Tyler went from being the sweetest guy on Earth into the biggest douche ever. I was actually rooting for him at one point, I didn't care if he lied to Gage and Cassi, a lot of guys do that actually. My problem was that he betrayed Cassi after 11 years of being her best friend! Did he forget about her overnight or something? I knew he fell in love with her and he thought her rejection to sex meant she didn't love him (even though she didn't) but GEEZ "love me or there'll be nothing"? That's not how best friends treat each other! And what is with her cooking every night and all the guys running away when she asks them to help with the dishes? All sexism is wrong, but sexism about women coming from a woman herself... it really sickened me.

Jocelyn Reyes I hated how the detective character was added and how the book was mostly in the point of view of gage. not that it was a bad thing, its just that I thought that the book would be mostly in Cassidy's point of view since it was mainly about her life. but either way the cop DID NOT need to be in there.

Erika I couldn't stand the cop part. She threw herself at him when she was in love with Gage. I also can't get over how Ty's parents never questioned all her "accidents".

Lauren (aplpeach) I hated how long she and Gage were kept apart and then when they were brought together, she took them apart quickly again. we didn't get to really enjoy them as a couple. I also hated Tylers character. I think he was an ass who didn't really care for cassi but only cared about what he wanted in return for taking care of her for all those years.

message 26: by Keeley (last edited May 03, 2014 06:37AM) (new) - rated it 2 stars

Keeley All of it just about. I gave it 2 and a half stars and I don't even know why. There must have been one or two things I liked but the rest was a steaming pile of horse shit!

She got beat up EVERYDAY and no one noticed??? She got beat with heels, golf clubs and a spanner and no one saw a mark on her body??? So after these REALY BAD beatings that nearly killed her but didn't leave makes that would start question or brake any bones? Or even the fact that at some times the beatings were so bad she couldn't even walk... But she managed to go to school the next day and look normal. Or the glass her stepdad cut her face with must have just vanished the next day..... WTF??

What about the fact that she seems to let any man she come into co tacked with feel her up?? She's a whore.. Plain and simple. The whole thing with conner was ridicules and telling Gage about it in so much detail was not needed and pretty fucking cruel. I'm all up for her been honest but there was no need to talk him through every little touch that happened.

I also don't get how they forgive TY??? He nearly killed the girl yet there still best friends?? Hahaha what a crock of shit!!!

WHY IS IT THAT EVERY BOOK I READ ABOUT A GOOD LOOKING MAN THEY HAVE TO BE PERFECT? Never one tiny imperfection! Never do they sound real. Most of the time I struggle to put a face to these god like men," as Gage is described in this book..... I don't know any of these kind of men, if I did I'd be married to one! That's not me picking on this book alone, it's just something iv noticed with all books. I'm not asking for a bent cock or three nipples, I mean like a chipped tooth of a bent nose. Something real.

All in all, I thought it was ridiculous!!

Smart Chicks Who Love Books I thought it was stupid how Cassidy acted like a helpless little girl and dated Tyler even though she never felt the same way. I hated her because i think she need to find a clue, and be independent. Not depend on Gage and Tyler for everything. I wanted her to die, if not at least get sick from that scorpion bite at the end.
Then i didnt understand how that detective guy had ANYTHING to do with the story. I didnt like him, and i felt like he added nothing to the story.

Smart Chicks Who Love Books How stupid do (story) people get? How did Ty's parents never ask about her injuries????? I kinda agreed with Gage about Ty being an idiot because he never did anything to stop it, after all those years. Then he had the audacity to believe
that he deserved Cassidy. *shaking my head*

Cindy I actually enjoyed the book.
