P.S. I just gave Mushroom Age a try. Well done story type of game. I finished the first chapter. Sort of like a mystery time travel novel with interactive puzzles along the way. Quite enjoyable and entertaining. Also has nice artwork.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Thanks for collecting these, and giving links. I might just try Mushroom Age myself.

I've been playing a chapter of it a night. The story and puzzle games aren't terribly complicated, but "being there" makes it intriguing. I always imagined that this would be the future of books: something between a book and a movie with reader-participation.

Much like the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books from the 1980s and 1990s or the text based adventure games for personal computers (also from the 1980s). There have been some attempts at "interactive fiction" on the kindle, but most of it is sub-par.

Exactly. I did love those choose-your-own-adventure books. This one doesn't seem to give you a choice for your adventure, but at least it feels like you've at least got some role to play in the story.

I've enjoyed a few interactive children's books that have been made for reading in ebook format . The best I've seen so far has been The Cat in the Hat. There's supposedly a nice interactive Alice in Wonderland, too, but I've only seen the preview version.

Florian Armas (goodreadscomflorianarmas) | 21 comments Next generation games will most probably use natural language and haptic interfaces.
Below a future game (still in beta release) using natural language for interaction (unfortunately it is not about time travel)
http://botcolony.com/

An interesting game with unlimited random scenarios is Civilization (you can consider it like time travel that creates an alternate history). Be aware this is a very addictive game :)

I tried Mushroom Age, and it is a little too simplistic for my taste. Probably geared for a younger audience, but it is still enjoyable.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Mushroom Age is fun for me, because I'm not much of a gamer. It's like the $6.99 hidden object games for PCs, with more mini-games and storyline than most that I've seen. I see the reviews of the full version speak of bugs, so I won't buy it quite yet.

How many chapters are there? The intro screen implies that it's still growing/ expanding, is that true?

Same for me since I'm not much of a gamer either (mainly because my hands can't handle clicky games). It seems like there are paid versions of the game that have more chapters? I haven't gotten that far yet.

Tealc | 34 comments Civilization, wonderful game. It is interesting to play Ramses or Cesar and develop a civilization from almost nothing.
I have the IV th version. The bad thing is that one well played game can last more than 12 hours.

Thanks for the links Amy. I dont understand what Outtatime is all about, time travel wise, the icons and wallpapers dont do anything for me...I dont get it!

Will play Mushroom tonight.

I'll try to keep Time Travel app open for ten years see how many fractional seconds I might have time travelled over that decade. I will take as many trips on the Virgin fast train and flights as possible :)

Looks like some fun apps, need to play me some of that.

Tealc,

I have played Civilization 1,2,3,4,5 and various other Civilization copy cat games. I love them, no time travel but in a sense starting out in the cave men days and ending in the space race in the scope of a single game is a form of time travel so to speak.

The latest civilization game is coming out October 24...Looks pretty sweet!
