Elizabeth So I 'm kind of mad right now at Barnes & Noble ,so on May 19th 2015 I went and order 6 free nook books so like always I went to check my receipt because a while back they said I order a book I didn't any way this is what I found on six free book receipts:Order Summary.Subtotal (1 item):$0.01.Shipping:FREE.Estimated Tax: $0.00 .Order Total:$0.01
like I said that's on all 6 new free books that I got, so I went and sent them a message and they went on how it was an Authorization hold or something like that, and that it happens sometimes, but it would be canceled out,all he would keep saying was that it does show up, but what got me made is that has never happened at all no matter what he says because in all of my free book receipts it always says these:Order Summary.Subtotal (1 item):$0.00.Shipping:FREE.Estimated Tax: $0.00 .Order Total:$0.00. and if I do order books that I pay for with money it says something like this:Order Summary.Subtotal (1 item):$2.99.Shipping:FREE.Estimated Tax: $0.00 .Order Total:$2.99.Not once has any of my free books receipts said :Order Summary.Subtotal (1 item):$0.01.Shipping:FREE.Estimated Tax: $0.00 .Order Total:$0.01
and I keep all my receipts from when ever I order books from kindle or nook.So my question is has this happen to anyone else who orders free books from them.

Jules (juliannanoel) | 4 comments This has not happened to me, however I do work in finance. Sometimes, it is a preauthorization on your account for a purchase. This also happens with gas, to make sure that the card & account is in fact real. It possibly could just be they changed it to make sure spam wasn't purchasing the book so the publishers can get an idea of how successful it was? However, Im not 100% of this method its just an idea. I wouldn't be too worried about it, because it does drop off of your account.

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 41 comments I'd call customer service and see if they know why. It may have been a system error.

Missyb | 221 comments I don't know if this is part of the same issue, but I tried to get a free Nook book today, and it asked me for my security code for my credit card. I was signed into my account, I have a valid default credit card listed on my account, and I have over $10 in credit on my account. I don't understand why it's asking my for that information. It hasn't in the past. It seems like a waste of time setting up my account if I have to enter information from my credit card anyhow.
