Loving Mark Watney's log entries that's for sure.

Most of the sci-fi books I've read are semi-fantasy like so this is a great dose of reality sci-fi.

I agree with the previous comment - Earth's knowledge of his survival was a pleasant surprise and just amps up the dramatic tension which is brilliantly diluted by Mark's thoughts on Aquaman. I am finding even the more technical science parts fascinating simply because I am no scientist, and it just makes the whole situation that much more believable, plus Mark's commentary about the science stuff - including evil laughter- is hilarious!
