This is for discussion of the 'Prologue' and 'A Path Within Shadow' of Night of Knives by Esslemont. Please don't post any spoilers for later parts of the book, but otherwise feel free to comment about what you've read and enjoyed/disliked etc.

We've only just begun, but what are you initial feelings?
How does Esslemont compare?
Hos does his approach differ?

His prose is definitely different from Erikson's. A bit more direct I think with a bit more foreshadowing involved.

The Riders are intriguing and eerie!

Also I can't help thinking that we've met the Edgewalker before but I just can't place it!

I agree that the tone of voice is certainly different but the world is just as convincing and his writing still interests me a lot :)
