OUR BOOK OF THE MONTH PROGRAM IS BACK!!!

We’ve had a couple of month’s off and we’re back and ready to rumble. To Kick the activity off we’re adding further exposure this month, by awarding all finalists (5 in total) with advertising on our social media pages! Obviously the overall winner will receive additional publicity, however this way all finalists receive something!

1. Now - 11th Title submissions are posted. Submission guidelines allow for a maximum of 500 words and your books title only. As the shortlisted books will be judged purely on this post it is recommended that the authors think outside the box (no posts to other websites, good reads link only) and post something which draws people in and gives enough away to leave everyone wanting more! 2. June 11th: the shortlisted/finalists will be announced (selected by the EBM team) - NOW, LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

3. June 11th - 15th EBM members vote for the title they feel best represents our groups 'book of the month' here's the important part ***IF YOU VOTE FOR A TITLE & IT WINS, YOU MUST READ & REVIEW IT FOR THE AUTHOR!*** It needs to be completed by June 3oth.

We understand sometimes "life" gets in the way but we don't want this to be habitual, if you can't commit to reviewing your choice, please don't vote.

4. JUNE 15th Winning title announced based on tallied votes. The author provides the EBM team with three copies of their book (pdf/mobi/epub format.) This is required within 48 hours of winning. If you are an author and don't know how to format your book to these formats, we will do it for you. As an author you MUST agree to donate the book to all who voted for it and you must also agree not to extend deadlines for readers. The program exists with a purpose.

5. Members have from June 17th to June 30th to read/review the book for the winning author!

6. EBM itself will support the winner by promoting their book on our Facebook page (16,000+ followers) our Twitter page (46,000 followers) and on our Goodreads group & Newsletter (1,600 members and growing!)

LAST STRAW is a gritty, crime suspense novel set in Berkeley, California, featuring an anti-hero that some readers will see as the protagonist of the story, even though the crimes he commits are heinous. I would like to submit my new release 'The Daughter-in-law Syndrome' for consideration, which already has 4 five star reviews on Goodreads.

The Daughter-in-law Syndrome delves into the complicated relationship that is causing much friction between Grandmother Edna Deane and her daughter-in-law Arla. In addition it focuses on the sometimes tumultuous partnership between Arla and her husband Ric.

Arla Deane sometimes likens her marriage to undergoing daily psychological warfare. Husband Ric will never voice an opinion, and puts his mother Edna up high on a pedestal. Arla is sick of always feeling that she comes in at only second best to her mother-in-law, who much to Arla’s fury is never told anything by Ric or his sisters that she would not want to hear.

This novel explores the husband/wife, mother/son, and mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationships. After twenty eight years of marriage, Arla, the daughter-in-law, is at the end of her tether and persuades a reluctant Ric to accompany her for marriage guidance. As they look back over their lives with Counsellor Toni Beecher, Arla slowly comes to realise her own failings, and eventually discovers the long-hidden reason why Ric will never utter a cross word to his mother.

I would like to submit The Fowler's Snare: A Novel of Ancient Egypt.

Two rival princes competing for a much lauded prize, battle it out with a chariot race. A simple enough premise, but this story is about far more than that. Here's my latest: The Legacy Trust - a present-day time travel thriller mystery, receiving good reviews.

When designer Andy Knight decides to post some of his artistic creations on a spoof ‘Alien Artifacts’ website, he thinks he is just having fun with the gullible public – until government agents turn up. He is arrested, interrogated and threatened. They want his ‘artifacts’. The REAL ones!

Knight’s future goes into a tailspin when they show him a 60-year-old photo of an artifact almost identical to one he had dreamed up. And when a follower of his web site sends him a strange device for safekeeping, and is promptly murdered, Knight decides to keep that device secret.

Researching the origins of that device costs a friend his life, and sends Knight on a chilling journey through history untold.

On the run, he turns the tables on his attacker, and uncovers some incredible facts. Sometimes a plain deal is hard to come by, especially when you live in a small town. And when it comes to justice? The innocent can be found guilty, even if the only evidence against them are rumors being spread by neighbors.

In Northern Louisiana tucked away behind trees and small hills, and not too far from where HBO filmed their original series, True Blood, is the town of Plain Dealing. A population of just over a thousand, everyone knows everyone and it is every residents' right to learn the intimate details of each fellow townie. The town becomes restless, anxious and desperate to find the killer among them, even if it means taking the law into their own hands. If Louisiana justice is what they need, so be it. After all, their sheriff has yet to arrest the man many believe is guilty, Dr. Tell.

While everyone else is trying to solve the mystery, Allison is solving some of her own. Slowly but surely she learns the secret lives Dr. Shelton and Dr. Tell have been living. She's also discovering herself, her strength, her weaknesses, and most of all, for the first time, she's learning what it's like to have someone on her side. The chemistry between she and Dr. Tell leads to an inevitable affair, and sooner than later Allison must ask herself, "Have I set myself up? Will I become the town's next victim?"

Secrets, rumors and erotic discovery. Small town blues. Is anything the truth? Plain Dealing is a mystery/thriller you won't be able to solve and has an ending you won't see coming. It will also make you ask yourself, "In a small town like this, can the innocent get a plain dealing of anything?"

Ha! Yeah, this is my kind of book. This month is definitely great competition!

In the not so distant future, a population of 9 billion people is straining our resources beyond capacity. People are expected to survive on 1000 calories a day and there is no hope in sight. This is the story of a government trying to cope with the masses, and a few people trying to survive..

If I'd only a few moments to describe the book, I'd say something like this...

Dark Tidings tells the story of two medieval down-and-outs who need to learn that mixing too much beer with ancient magic is a recipe for disaster. Throw in an Internet genius and the disaster can only get worse.

But if I had a little more time, like I have here, I'd describe the story as follows...

What happens when ancient magic meets the internet? One thing is certain, modern life will never be the same again.

A thousand years ago, a young thief, Tung, and a disgraced wizard, Madrick, are thrust together in an executioner’s dungeon. In the darkness, Madrick reveals an incredible secret about a legendary spell. The great spell helps them escape their prison cell... and eventually their century.

Catapulted into the present day, their lives collide with Michael, a computer hacker who plans to destroy the world’s largest bank. But sinister people are tracking their every move and they will stop at nothing to steal their spell.

Dark Tidings is funny, thought-provoking and a little bit frightening. I just hope the idea of having a laugh while modern society disintegrates appeals to my fellow EBM members.

Thanks, Pete. I know what you mean about bursting want-to-read lists, but at least we'll never be stuck for a book.

Galthain's Bones is YA fantasy, but my grown-up friends seem to enjoy it at least as much, if not more than the kids...

*When properly played, War with Dracaena is a wild, crazy game that's partly a battle with training swords and partly the worst football match you've ever seen on TV. It was created to simulate the chaos of battle, and is the second most-popular national sport of the Horse Plains.

I'd like to nominate One Kill Away

Halifax homicide detective Allan Stanton's walked away from his job to reconnect with his young son, until a killer starts methodically carving his way through the city's underbelly. His ex-partner needs help, and Stanton reluctantly returns.
