Italy, 1899. Fiery-tempered, seductive medium Alessandra Poverelli levitates a table at a Spiritualist seance in Naples. A reporter photographs the miracle, and wealthy, skeptical, Jewish psychiatrist Camillo Lombardi arrives in Naples to investigate. When she materializes the ghost of his dead grandmother, he risks his reputation and fortune to finance a tour of the Continent, challenging the scientific and academic elite of Europe to test Alessandra's mysterious powers. She will help him rewrite Science. His fee will help here escape her sadistic husband Pigotti and start a new life in Rome. Newspapers across Europe trumpert her Cinderella story and baffling successes, and the public demands to know -- does the "Witch of Napoli" really have supernatural powers? Nigel Huxley is convinced Alessandra is simply another vulgar, Italian trickster. The icy, aristocratic detective for England's Society for the Investigation of Mediums launches a plot to trap and expose her. Meanwhile, the Vatican is quietly digging up her childhood secrets, desperate to discredit her supernatural powers; her abusive husband Pigotti is coming to kill her; and the tarot cards predict catastrophe. The novel was inspired by the true-life story of controversial Italian medium Eusapia Palladino (1854-1918).

I would love to read this book whether you win or not.

Could a hacker break into a computer and plant a program to create a deadly virus like Ebola? The answer is YES in the biotech thriller - “The True Virus”. In this action filled novel, Hamas bioterrorist corrupt the DNA component of the CIA’s main computer and transfer a true virus to an agent’s cell phone in Israel. The result is a life threatening epidemic which must be stopped.
Review comments:
“I couldn't help but think this is the kind of plot you might see on a TV show like 24.”
- George Esler, thriller novel writer
“The plot is well-developed and the story is action-packed. A page turner from start to finish, the suspense and mystery that carries on throughout the book is engaging and has a lot of twists and surprises.”
- Official review from OnlineBookClub.org

On a space station in Earth orbit, something terrible has happened to Bertie Lindermann.
Under normal circumstances, the investigation would be a job for station security, but circumstances are anything but normal.
Allon Wu might be the last person you would entrust with unraveling a high profile mystery, but there is no one else.
With deceit the order of the day, who is not a suspect? Is this an isolated incident or the precursor of a storm that could throw Kostya station into chaos? When will it be too late? Who can he trust? Can he prevent this crisis from spinning out of control? This is his best chance to regain Lovey's trust, and Allon is determined not to let her down again.
Allon Wu is the Negative.

A. Repeat drunk driver
B. Pedophile
C. Rapist
D. Murderer
E. Sex trafficker
F. Other (who?)
Charlie and Sarah, two disaffected teens dealing with depression, meet in an online chatroom and soon hatch a plan to bring meaning to their lives by encouraging other despondent individuals to help eradicate the "scum of society", such as pedophiles and rapists who have escaped justice. Anyone determined to commit suicide is urged to first kill someone who "got away with it" before taking their own life. Why not, they ask, "take one with you?"
The idea goes viral and things rapidly spiral out of control. As they develop feelings for each other, their worldwide followers begin to enact a very different version of their idea, perverting its original intent and threatening the thin line between civil society and criminal anarchy. Just as they find the hope of happiness together, Charlie and Sarah must deal with the monster they've created, a global epidemic of murder-suicide that threatens the very core of their humanity.
Take One With You by Oak Anderson

Opposing and chasing him are two young police officers, who must not only deal with obtaining enough evidence to arrest him and stop the violence, but who also must come to grips with their own steadily increasing sexual and emotional attraction to one another.
As one reviewer puts it, "The story contains interesting, and mostly unpredictable, twists. The interaction between the supporting characters is excellent. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good crime story without any unbelievable nonsense one finds in much of the genre."
Thank you and best regards,

I would like to submit my new release 'The Daughter-in-law Syndrome' for consideration, which already has 4 five star reviews on Goodreads.
The Daughter-in-law Syndrome delves into the complicated relationship that is causing much friction between Grandmother Edna Deane and her daughter-in-law Arla. In addition it focuses on the sometimes tumultuous partnership between Arla and her husband Ric.
Arla Deane sometimes likens her marriage to undergoing daily psychological warfare. Husband Ric will never voice an opinion, and puts his mother Edna up high on a pedestal. Arla is sick of always feeling that she comes in at only second best to her mother-in-law, who much to Arla’s fury is never told anything by Ric or his sisters that she would not want to hear.
This novel explores the husband/wife, mother/son, and mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationships. After twenty eight years of marriage, Arla, the daughter-in-law, is at the end of her tether and persuades a reluctant Ric to accompany her for marriage guidance. As they look back over their lives with Counsellor Toni Beecher, Arla slowly comes to realise her own failings, and eventually discovers the long-hidden reason why Ric will never utter a cross word to his mother.
Also, adding to Arla’s stress is the fact that her son Stuart will soon be marrying Ria, a girl whom Arla feels is just looking for a free ride. Arla is convinced that Ria will be no asset to Stuart at all; her new daughter-in-law just wants to be a mother and has no intention of ever working again once the babies start to arrive. After visiting Stuart and Ria for Sunday lunch, Arla is convinced that her son is making the biggest mistake of his life…..

I would like to suggest my book, ‘The Golden Sword’ – it’s a teen fantasy but as C.S. Lewis said, ‘Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.’
Within the covers of ‘The Golden Sword’, you’ll meet young Arthur Penhaligon. He might be a skateboarder but he’s also an heir to a mythical king.
There’ll be shape-shifting animals, invisible Watchers and a dash of time travel.
Oh... and an ancient knight who really shouldn’t still be around.
Life is about to get interesting.
Thank you for your consideration!

Two rival princes competing for a much lauded prize, battle it out with a chariot race. A simple enough premise, but this story is about far more than that. As if the corrupt motivations of man are not enough, the author supplies a plethora of horrific obstacles to ensure that the eventual winner earns his reward.

The epic fantasy novel Child of Blackwen is a coming-of-age adventure story about the young dhampir Artemis in the mystical world of Arrygn.
Born of a human and a vampire, Artemis was raised among the elves of Ellewynth by her mother’s friends Shadow, an elven soldier, and Talisa, a witch. An outcast in elven society, Artemis is protected by the Elders of the Woodland Realm because her mother, the vampire Tamina Ravenwing, once served them. As Artemis struggles to overcome prejudice, she must also learn to control her innate thirst for blood. Her efforts are made all the more difficult when Shadow and Talisa are called to serve in the eight-year-long war against the dragons.
Just after they return, Artemis begins dreaming her mother’s memories, only to discover that her guardians are plagued with the same dreams. This, along with the mysterious murders in the Woodland Realm, leads Artemis to learn the shocking truth about her mother’s death: the unsavory woman in the dreams is none other than Tamina’s younger sister, Arlina.
Artemis poses a threat to the madwoman Arlina, usurper of the throne of Blackwen City—and the vampire will stop at nothing to eliminate the threat.

When designer Andy Knight decides to post some of his artistic creations on a spoof ‘Alien Artifacts’ website, he thinks he is just having fun with the gullible public – until government agents turn up. He is arrested, interrogated and threatened. They want his ‘artifacts’. The REAL ones!
Knight’s future goes into a tailspin when they show him a 60-year-old photo of an artifact almost identical to one he had dreamed up. And when a follower of his web site sends him a strange device for safekeeping, and is promptly murdered, Knight decides to keep that device secret.
Researching the origins of that device costs a friend his life, and sends Knight on a chilling journey through history untold.
On the run, he turns the tables on his attacker, and uncovers some incredible facts. Not least, the agent, Marlon Brady, claims to be a time traveller, here to fight against the manipulation of history by a century-old secret organisation – the Legacy Trust. He reveals a plot which, he claims only he and Knight can thwart.
Where do the ‘alien artifacts’ fit in? Are they alien? Somebody wants the technology enough to kill for it.
Is Brady really a time traveller? Knight has some convincing evidence that he is, but then, Brady has lied before.
An ever changing quest to uncover both the truth and the Legacy Trust takes Knight from England to the seat of U.S. government in Washington, his trail marked by bodies, thanks to Brady.
Can they stop the Trust in time, or is World War III already in motion?
But what Knight learns in the U.S.A. only adds to his confusion…
And WOW, have I got some serious competition this month! Thanks for checking me out.

Sometimes a plain deal is hard to come by, especially when you live in a small town. And when it comes to justice? The innocent can be found guilty, even if the only evidence against them are rumors being spread by neighbors.
In Northern Louisiana tucked away behind trees and small hills, and not too far from where HBO filmed their original series, True Blood, is the town of Plain Dealing. A population of just over a thousand, everyone knows everyone and it is every residents' right to learn the intimate details of each fellow townie. Because of this rumors are the town's lifeblood and travels faster than the internet. Here in this low poverty space in America, you better not dare make a townie your enemy.
But someone did.
On the night of the town's worst storm, a nurse at the local hospital is found clinging to life. Days later when she dies from her injuries, the town must investigate it's first murder in more than fifty years.
Right away fingers point at two of the doctors who work at the hospital. One who is well respected, whereas the other has a cloud of whispers surrounding him, accusing him of having a secret dark lust toward women. Is the killer Dr. Shelton or the infamous and mysterious Dr. Tell who also is sole owner of the hospital where many in town work?
Most believe it to be Dr. Tell, but Allison Saunders isn't so sure. As the town's outcast, she knows all too well that many of the rumors floating around aren't true. She also knows that Dr. Shelton is better at hiding the man he truly is. When circumstances dictates she must rely on one of these doctors for her own safety, she goes with her gut and choses Dr. Tell.
Things in town only gets worse when more women are found dead. This turns the gossip mill into overdrive. The town becomes restless, anxious and desperate to find the killer among them, even if it means taking the law into their own hands. If Louisiana justice is what they need, so be it. After all, their sheriff has yet to arrest the man many believe is guilty, Dr. Tell.
While everyone else is trying to solve the mystery, Allison is solving some of her own. Slowly but surely she learns the secret lives Dr. Shelton and Dr. Tell have been living. She's also discovering herself, her strength, her weaknesses, and most of all, for the first time, she's learning what it's like to have someone on her side. The chemistry between she and Dr. Tell leads to an inevitable affair, and sooner than later Allison must ask herself, "Have I set myself up? Will I become the town's next victim?"
Secrets, rumors and erotic discovery. Small town blues. Is anything the truth? Plain Dealing is a mystery/thriller you won't be able to solve and has an ending you won't see coming. It will also make you ask yourself, "In a small town like this, can the innocent get a plain dealing of anything?"
Lots of laughs. Lots of suspense. Lots of OMG! You may even shed a tear in this Amazon International Bestseller. ***This novel includes adult content: language, BDSM and heat level 5 erotica*** If this is unacceptable for the group, just let me know and I'll gladly remove it. :):)

Ha! Yeah, this is my kind of book. This month is definitely great competition!

In the not so distant future, a population of 9 billion people is straining our resources beyond capacity. People are expected to survive on 1000 calories a day and there is no hope in sight. This is the story of a government trying to cope with the masses, and a few people trying to survive..

The excerpt lets you get as far as Chapter 3. Nice opening slice of the story.

If I'd only a few moments to describe the book, I'd say something like this...
Dark Tidings tells the story of two medieval down-and-outs who need to learn that mixing too much beer with ancient magic is a recipe for disaster. Throw in an Internet genius and the disaster can only get worse. But if I had a little more time, like I have here, I'd describe the story as follows...
What happens when ancient magic meets the internet? One thing is certain, modern life will never be the same again.Dark Tidings is funny, thought-provoking and a little bit frightening. I just hope the idea of having a laugh while modern society disintegrates appeals to my fellow EBM members.
A thousand years ago, a young thief, Tung, and a disgraced wizard, Madrick, are thrust together in an executioner’s dungeon. In the darkness, Madrick reveals an incredible secret about a legendary spell. The great spell helps them escape their prison cell... and eventually their century.
Catapulted into the present day, their lives collide with Michael, a computer hacker who plans to destroy the world’s largest bank. But sinister people are tracking their every move and they will stop at nothing to steal their spell.
Thanks for the opportunity to participate.

Can people please stop posting all these 'must have' books? My want-to-read list is going to burst its seams by the time this month's contest ends! Ken - a lovely plot and well written!

Riding on the heels of the new Avengers movie (actually, this book has been out and doing well since January, but the movie helps too), I'd like to nominate my superheroes vs zombies novel HUNGRY GODS.
Superheroes. Undead. 'Nuff said.
The country's premier superhero team is missing. So when a mutant monstrosity goes on the rampage, it's Spitball to the rescue! He's a third-string hero today, determined to be first-string tomorrow. And the Army may be giving him just the chance he needs. Spitball's been invited to undertake a secret mission into America's heartland. What he's about to discover, however, is not a chance at stardom but a horror movie come to life...
Hungry Gods is a fast-paced adventure of costumed superheroes, government conspiracy theories, and flesh-eating zombies. Spandex adventure for adults.
Thanks, Miners!

Thanks, Pete. I know what you mean about bursting want-to-read lists, but at least we'll never be stuck for a book.

Galthain's Bones is YA fantasy, but my grown-up friends seem to enjoy it at least as much, if not more than the kids...
A seeress sends young Bjorn Horsa on a wild ride across the desert to recover a five hundred year-old treasure buried with his ancestor's bones.
Join Bjorn on his quest as he makes allies, encounters hidden treachery, and braves the dangers of the Sunken Way and the Dead City.
Is his desert guide, Ser Anafi, friend or foe? Or both?
There's also bonus story in this volume titled The Wager:
While waiting for Sir Kyle to return to begin training him to be a squire, Bjorn wants to play War with Dracaena* with his older brothers, but Melchior refuses to play!
What Melchior says, goes...or does it?
Can Bjorn and his cousin Trehan play a big enough prank on Melchior, Knute, and Hans, that they'll be motivated to play "War"?
One prank leads to another, and the whole thing kind of gets out of hand.
The Wager: if Bjorn loses, he has to clean up the mess he's made pranking his brothers. If he wins, they have to do the cleaning up.
*When properly played, War with Dracaena is a wild, crazy game that's partly a battle with training swords and partly the worst football match you've ever seen on TV. It was created to simulate the chaos of battle, and is the second most-popular national sport of the Horse Plains.
I really can't take any responsibility for your battle injuries if you should attempt to play it!

This sounds really good! I've added it to my "Want to Read" list...
I'd like to nominate One Kill Away
Halifax homicide detective Allan Stanton's walked away from his job to reconnect with his young son, until a killer starts methodically carving his way through the city's underbelly. His ex-partner needs help, and Stanton reluctantly returns.
The killer is definitely working through a list of victims, and he's leaving cryptic clues at his grisly crime scenes. Are they there to confuse the police? Or is there something more to them? As Stanton unravels this shocking central mystery, he becomes the target of an unexpected enemy--those next on the killer's list.
