Anne Mey I wasn't really interested in reading another horror book, I've read my share of King and it doesn't scare me as it fascinates me.
But then I thought about what really scared me, and the answer was quick to come. It's what happens in life that is tragic and has happened for no particular reason. It's knowing people did actually found it cool to kill people. That frightens me.

And sure enough the book really did frighten me when I read it. It's very interesting and well crafted, using many sources and personal experience from the author who was one of the reporters there at the time.
We get inside the horror of the shooting, and inside the kids head, and inside the community there.
It's haunting and I think about it still, I've noted some references given in the bibliography at the end of the book and still want to check on that.

Francesca | 391 comments I have this for my 'book at the bottom of my to-read list'. I've really wanted to read it for quite a long time but I kept putting it off because I knew it would be disturbing. I'm the same as you, I'm fine with fictional horror (I'm a huge horror fan) but it's the real life events that scare me more than anything else because I know it's actually happened and that's a lot worse to think about than some made up story.

I have it on my challenge list, though, and I'm determined to read it by the end of this year.

Amanda Jimenez (whispering_lilac) | 70 comments Look at my list, you will know that this would be "my week". But I am also a lover of nonfiction and of true crime, so I want to "scare" myself in the nontraditional way. BTW, Mabomanji, very well put: I couldn't have said it better myself (at least as far as why I am choosing this book--I haven't read it yet but I have been wanting to read it for quite a while).

Anne Mey Francesca : Exactly ! Knowing real people actually did it instead of an imaginary guy is far more disturbing.
The book is really well documented and very interesting I hope you'll like it despite the subject.

Amanda : Hope you'll like this one, it has all the police work in details.
