Jared is unusually drawn to Mia. Why do you think she affected him so profoundly?

Part chemistry; part she appeared as someone he wanted to protect.

Frankly, he never could figure her out. She didn't fit any of the "molds" he was used to. She was so artless he was confounded and intrigued. He was like a moth to a flame:)

There were times when I wondered how much she could take from his harsh comments; I wasn't sure how she could see through them as fast as she did. At any rate, as you say, she kept him off balance.

She really could read people very well. Maybe that came from being a diplomat's daughter where that's so important. She picked her battles with Jared but could read him so well.

Yep, he couldn't resist the challenge.
