This is the thread to tell readers about what you have published. It's free publicity. It's pretty hard to find interracial romances for readers so I think it's helpful to get the word out.

Authors please feel free to add your book availabllity dates to the events section.

I think I may write a little out of the ordinary IR romances. Sometimes I toss in other genres and I like to write in different ones but they mostly feature a romance. :-) Nevertheless, anyone is free to check em out. Here are my current releases.

Cimmerian City (Futuristic thriller - Egyptian/Native American Heroine & Chinese American Hero)

The Eye of Alloria (Science Fantasy Romance - Various cultures - Native American King, African Queen and their daughter) This is available as a free download

Before Dawn Breaks (Romantic Suspense - AA heroine & Cau Hero)

One Evening in London (Contemporary Romance novella - AA heroine & British Hero)

A Kiss of Ashen Twilight - Book 1 (Paranormal - Scottish vampire hero & African fairy heroine)

Within the Shadows of Mortals & Inheritance of Ashes will follow the characters in the rest of the series.

I've also posted a flash fiction IR romance on my good reads page. It was first published in the Romance ebooks newsletter and is called Hazy Chestnut Dreams.

Thanks for letting us share our work here, Danielle. :-)

Thanks for filling us in on your novels, Rae. How do I get the free download story? I should probably know (hangs head). Thanks.

Thanks so much, Eugenia! :-)

Yup! You can grab the free reads off my webpage on my book list page: http://www.raelori.com/mybooks. I should be adding more freebies there in the coming weeks or so (once I get my nose out of the books and stop reading lol).

Yes Rae, for real. I have gone to Danielle's blog one day and checked out her interested blogs. I've clicked on yours one day and liked it. That's how it came to be on my blog. The first day that I have viewed your blog is the day, I've signed up for your newsletter.

Very cool. :-D Glad to have ya aboard. I loved both you and Danielle's blogs also. I think you guys rubbed off on me cause most of my blog posts lately have been book reviews and updates lol. Haven't been posting much about the industry as I used to (most of it is old news).

I haven't been posting reviews about books on my book blog. I have to admit, I am still riding on the Dave Malkoff and Sophia Ghaffari pairing cloud. That's why my review about Dark of Night is still there. I have only being posting reviews here. I will update my book blog soon. I need to update my TV blog as well. I need to share my thoughts about Butch on Saving Grace. The new season started and I want to talk about my Sam Starrett bka Butch.

Just keep checking either my blog or your blog to see when my blog has been updated.

Well I tend to spend more time talking about books and stuff since I have a pretty boring life. I love your industry information. I am impressed with your knowledge, Rae.

I haven't had much time to go blog cruising lately. I need to incorporate that into my busy schedule again.

Roy (mplwdscribe) | 10 comments I am pleased, delighted, make that thrilled to announce that my debut novel Patches of Grey has been published by M.U.D. House Books and is available for sale from Amazon.com. If you opt to purchase a copy please be sure to share your thoughts once done reading. I greatly enjoy hearing from my readers. After all, without them there would be considerably less point to writing in the first place.

Synopsis: Tony Johnson is soon to graduate from much more than high school. Although his zip code places him in a Bronx tenement pre “rise of Obama”, his sights are set far beyond the trappings of a humble upbringing. Collegiate dreams and dating white classmate, Janet Mitchell, put him strongly at odds with his father. His brother C.J.’s rebellious ways endanger his life on gang ruled streets and the chastity of their sister Tanya is lost, but Tony incurs the majority of his father's wrath for the sins of ambition, loving blindly, and unrestrained optimism. When Lionel Johnson’s job and role as primary breadwinner are lost, his authority erodes and bitterness is dealt with one drink at a time. Tony asserts his independence rather than allowing his fate to be set by chance and circumstance. But throughout the course of a tumultuous year, Tony learns that the world is not as black and white as he and his father's opposing mind sets suggest.

Kinda is. :-/ A lot of companies are having trouble now and are on the verge of bankruptcy. Not sure if they'll get swallowed up by a bigger dinosaur or go poof.

Oh, no. That's too bad. I was worried about how the recession would affect the publishing industry. Well I'm still doing my part to support book publishing. Hopefully things will turn around soon.

message 22: by Roy (last edited Mar 27, 2009 08:46AM) (new)

Roy (mplwdscribe) | 10 comments Thanks for the kind words Danielle and Arch and Rae. Obviously my goal is to sell as many copies as possible, but I am giving away copies of Patches of Grey to 3 lucky Good Reads readers as well - http://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sho...

p.s. As someone who works in the publishing industry I'm seeing the effects of the economy on the book biz from multiple sides. Several publishers who have been around for many years have had to close their doors, those who are managing to survive have made major cutbacks. In short, no one is immune to hard times. Yet all is not doom and gloom because as the Great Depression showed us, the harshest of times often leads to opportunity for creative, industrious newcomers to succeed where industry giants have failed. So we need to keep writing and keep publishing because of course people will keep reading, even if ever so increasingly it is off a screen rather than paper.

new_user Yeah, and in times like these, people actually tend to read/watch more to get away, so maybe there's a bright side, LOL.

So true, Roy. I had to stop checking the pub news because it was just one bad hit after another. But you are so right, there's room for more creativity especially with the internet and new media. And folks will be looking to read more for a nice escape. :-)

message 28: by LaVerne (new)

LaVerne (lavernethompson) | 77 comments Hello Everyone,

I just joined and wanted to introduce myself. My name is LaVerne Thompson I am an author and all I write is interracial romances, contemporary, fantasy and sci/fi. Currently my published works are contemporaries involving bw/wm and HEA. I prefer an HEA and that's how my books end.

I have 2 stories out at Red Rose Publishing PROMISES about young love lost and found, and HOLD ON a romance with a touch of suspense and dash of danger, and 1 at Freya's Bower COME TO ME a book for those who still believe in love.

I have two more coming soon from Red Rose that will be part of the Three Sister series and others in various stages.

To read 2 excerpts you can search me here and go to my website lavernethompson.webs.com for more.

I look forward to getting to know everyone, because I love to read as much as I love to write. Books are also my escape.

LaVerne
