SOLVED> Time travelling music student kidnaps Schubert

Schumann, who died in a mental institution, heard voices & one, he claimed, was Herr Schubert.
That's covered in the book, too.
Piercing the Elastic Limit

In it, a university music student takes over the time machine that was secretly built by a physics professor and uses it to kidnap Franz Schubert off his deathbed, cure his syphilis, and keep him stranded in the distant future to write music that the student publishes under his name.
There were a number of complications along the way. He stranded one rival in the 1920's but provided him with decades of editions of a newspaper which he used to make tons of money with perfect stock picks - before selling it all and causing the crash in 1929.
This was not a famous or well-read book. Sci-fi pulp, I guess. Still I'm dying to read it again, but I don't know the author or the title. Please help.
