Melodie: I like the sound of that! LOL. But it won't go to my head. Remember when we were on the AOL message board and every once in a while the "powers that be" would figure out we were moderator-less. It never seemed to be an issue. We are a friendly bunch!

Congrats Ann! Thank you Ann and Carol for taking care of us! I just had an email from an old AOL friend reminding me of the AOL book boxes...did any of you participate in those

i remember those- my "lilith" group did one.. we had a box that went from person to person filled with books and other misc. things- when you got the book, you'd add a book and something else, then take out a book and one "something". i still have a pen with a book on top of it that i got out of one of the boxes.

Yep...we used to all have so many books that we already read, that someone would send a box of books with a little gift inside (like a notepad, candle, etc). When you received the box, you would take whatever books you wanted and add the same amount, plus the little gift, and send it on to the next person. I think I might have been on the list from the Booktopia board.

I remember those from some group I participated on on AOL, maybe the Book Nook Cafe group or the Diet Books group. The M/T group never did one though.

congrats ann. see what happens when I don't check all the threads all the time and only the few I get emails on. I thought it was time to get here and go though them all.
I remember the boxes never got to get involved I think bookatopia or one of the other boards was just complaining of boxes missing because of the mail system or people complaining so they were stopping them for awhile. I always thought it sounded like a fun idea. didn't know about the something else part just thought they were books.
