Rachel Annie (snapdragoness) I happened across the "PLEASE MEMBERS !!! CREATE NEW TOPICS" thread encouraging members to start new discussions, and thought I'd give it a go.

To reiterate the topic's title: Which Indie Book are you Currently Reading?

And to keep with the group's posted rules, Please promote other authors, not just yourself. As the adage goes – A good writer reads. Be gracious enough to recommend and discuss books you’re a fan of from time to time.

Mods, if this was a no no, please delete. Also, my bad!

Rachel Annie (snapdragoness) I'm currently reading the third in Veronica Del Rosa's Enforcers and Coterie series, Dawn's Keeper (Enforcers and Coterie, #3) by Veronica Del Rosa .

It's great so far; I really dig Ms Del Rosa's writing style. ☺

Riley Amos Westbrook (sonshinegreene) | 124 comments Actually, I just finished 2 pretty good books. Plague of Equals: A science thriller of international disease, politics and drug discovery. was pretty good, even if it was outside my typical genres, and Nascent Decay This book I loved, lots of good scifi in here, but not hard scifi, as I would classify it more as an adventure.

Amber Foxx (amberfoxx) | 270 comments I'm reading When The Tide Turned. Beautifully written. It's an unusual mystery, both realistic and paranormal-scary at the same time.

Kat Desi (katdesiwrites) | 66 comments I'm just finishing up a group read for another group, but once I'm done with that I have a couple of indies lined up: Girl From Above: Escape which is Sci Fi and Chance the Darkness which is Urban Fantasy. :)

Kat Desi (katdesiwrites) | 66 comments You're welcome. They are a bunch of great indies. :)

Ashe Armstrong (ashearmstrong) I just finished the second novella of the first volume of Krista D. Ball's Spirit Caller: Books 1-3 series. It's a little outside what I normally read, with part of tthe plot being romantic but it's a fun series and I like how real it feels on the romance side.

Also will be restarting Christopher Ruz's Rust: Season One. I say restart because I had snagged episode 1 when he made it free and wanted more before i'd even finished. So I grabbed the season 1 book. This is the opposite of Krista as it's straight up creepy horror.

I recommend both authors for anyone interested. They're great people too, and i'm glad to know them.

Currently I'm reading Blood Toy Blood Toy by B.K. Raine

It's like a really dark urban fantasy (violence, sexuality, abuse, grim consequences) but I enjoy it because it doesn't put a pretty face on how vampire hunting might go or try to create some clean line between "bad" vampires/"good" vampires. They're predators, in some sense or another, so it's not sweeping all the ramification of that aside in favor of telling some kinky romance.

Also, I'm digging how it isn't strictly vampires - a lot's going bump in the night here and I'm only halfway through. It makes for an interesting storm the main character's standing at the eye of.

Ashe Armstrong (ashearmstrong) That sounds fun.

Riley Amos Westbrook (sonshinegreene) | 124 comments Now I just started Dakiti by E.J. Fisch, I like it so far. Has a solid science fiction feel, I love me some good science fiction.

message 14: by Werner (new)

Werner Riley, I read Dakiti back in the summer of 2015, and really liked it! If anyone's interested, my five-star review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... .

Right at the moment, I'm not reading any independent or small press books (though I have a few in the queue). But I can't believe that nobody in this group has read one since July 5, 2015 --I'm guessing that this thread must have just gotten buried and forgotten?

Amie O'Brien | 8 comments I'm currently reading Davenport House (Book 1) by Marie Silk. I started it Friday :)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 467 comments Call for Brindelier (book three of the series Keepers of the Wellspring) by Missy Sheldrake. I am also reading a paper back, From a distant star by Karen McQuestion. I think this one is from a small press though (Skyscape) never heard of them...

Lynne Stringer | 172 comments I'm constantly reading indie books. :-)

hehe me too...I stopped reading trad a few years ago. I will sometimes read small press (usually because I didn't check before I bought the book. :P)

Lynne Stringer | 172 comments I know so many authors these days that I like to support them as much as possible. I do read popular stuff too, though.

Sarah Houldcroft (sarahhouldcroft) | 1 comments I have a recommendation for all those who like a cross between 'Cider with Rosie and Stephen King' The Caterpillar Girl: A long, hot summer. A boy. A girl. A house of dark secrets

I have recommended it to a number of my friends who have all enjoyed it. It is really well written and for a debut novel is pretty special.
