In Megan Bostic's realistic fiction book " Never Eighteen", Austin Parker, 17 year old teenager, is trying to solve other people's problems while he has some conflicts himself. Austin Parker is just a normal teenager doing his daily things, but one day wanted to meet with some of his friends and try to fix their life issues. Austin meets up with Kaylee, his biggest crush, so she could drive him around. Kaylee drives him to Austin's friends' places like Justin's, who passed away, to talk with Justin's mother. Kaylee drove Austin to wherever he wanted like to Allie and hearing bad and good stories, trying to offer some help. Austin had a tough time hearing all his friends having problems with life. He tried to overcome his own fears by going to the town fair and doing stuff he never did before like eating spicy hot chicken wings and riding roller coasters that always got him sick. After meeting some more friends, Austin bought Kaylee to a very nice restuarant and then to a nice view, trying to get the most attention from Kaylee. Austin tried to tell her felt in love with her, but his mouth just won't do the right work. The next day, Austin brings Kaylee to a long hike and to some nice views. At that point, Austin finally started getting her attention. After that, Austin went to talk to his dad and tried to get his father to get back with his mother to solve some issues. On page 100-101 (Only Pages on Nook), from Austin's point of view, "My mouth is trying to procrastinate, but I fight to get the words out." This showed that Austin was having some serious trouble trying to get his love words to Kaylee, his love. Although this book does not clearly state this kind of as a main problem, the author is still trying to state this. This whole time, Austin tries to tell Kaylee he loves her from bringing her to restaurants, mountain hiking, and more. Overall, that's his problem as of now, he thinks of Kaylee all day long and just can't get his word out to Kaylee.
