D.G. | 4477 comments I am planning to bring back H&T later in the year as a challenge. I'll be changing the board (of course) so I'd like to take suggestions of:

- New Shelves you'd like to see in the next H&T
- Current Shelves you would NOT like to see in the H&T (I know about Mail Order Bride already, LOL!)
- Ideas for Tasks

Romance shelves are preferred but other genres as welcome as well. Please note that I'm looking for shelves with proper spelling, unless the acronym is well known. For instance YA-romance is OK, but not YA-Rom.

Yay for Horror going away, LOL! I forgot to add Classics to the shelf I wouldn't mind getting booted :)

message 11: by D.G. (last edited Feb 24, 2013 03:07PM) (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Classics is also on the dock. Non Romance shelves will be the first to go. :)

I will probably make it more romance focused next time. With your help, there are tons of new shelves we could have.

That said though, I'll go through the shelves and see which ones were the most read and the least read. The latter are definitely coming back.

message 12: by Ty (new)

Ty | 1943 comments I am loving the book-boyfriends shelf!

message 15: by Skandia (last edited Feb 24, 2013 10:49PM) (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments For the task idea - something about cover colors maybe.
Read a book with a red, blue or black cover or some other combo of colors.

One more task idea -
Read a book with more than 10 000 ratings on GR.

message 16: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Awesome, awesome shelves!

message 17: by Ms.soule (new)

Ms.soule (mrssoule) Shelf ideas:
military or military-romance
favorite-couple(s)
summer
winter
funny or laugh-out-loud - because one humor shelf isn't enough :-)
favorite-series

And I second the steamy shelf and 3rd the book-boyfriends shelf.

message 19: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments my only complaint about book-boyfriends (is at first glace) it is primarily YA romance - so we need to spice it up a bit!

Carrie (icanhasbooks) | 987 comments Dee wrote: "my only complaint about book-boyfriends (is at first glace) it is primarily YA romance - so we need to spice it up a bit!"

message 22: by Ty (new)

Ty | 1943 comments well, there's something to be said for those youngin's. so much energy....

okay. I think that fills my pervy quotient for the day.

Oh wait! I do have a point to this post other being a mini-cougar (cougarette?)

Tasks:
1. Read a book from a GR buddies favorite list.
2. Read a book from a new series.
3. Read the oldest book on your GR TBR.
4. Read a book published during the months of the tournament, from any year.

Other than that, I like the colors task that Skandia suggested

message 28: by Joyce (last edited Mar 16, 2013 10:02AM) (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments How about:

read a book that is in the first 10 on your goodreads TBR shelf.(it would be a way to get some of the old ones hanging around on the list out of the way) I wanted to put oldest book on the list but thought that would be too restrictive LOL)

oops I see Ty already did that

message 29: by Joyce (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments I liked the Horror shelf. I found a really good book in there that wasn't too heavy on the horror but just right

message 30: by Joyce (last edited Mar 17, 2013 04:27PM) (new)

Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments Shelves I did not like
MM
Abandoned
Sports-Romance
Medieval Romance

Suggestions:
Best Paranormal Series
Books You Wish More People Knew About
Best Humorous Books
Character You Most Want to Sleep With

I could not find a list I liked about books being media tie-in or a tv series being made from a book but this is a shelf that I would love

message 31: by ★ gwiz ★ (last edited Mar 24, 2013 11:17PM) (new)

 ★ gwiz ★ (ggwiz) | 21 comments I don't really like horror, thrillers.

I love fantasy, scifi, and time travel, magic, historical romance, or stories about apprentice How about romance in space? Have the developed a space suit to be able to make love among the stars?

Love the shelves boyfriends, swoon worthy, and made into a movie ideas.

This month a couple of my challenges did a few things different that you might consider. This month was St Pat and there were, of course, green covers, but one challenge had Green in the title/series and Green author's name. So a task could be a color in the title/series &/or color in the author's name.

There was also: Green with Envy, Green with Jealousy, Going green Environment, Green Thumb, Rolling in the Green Money, Being Green Sick. There are other colors that are linked to ideas and emotions, etc. Like Purple for Royalty Royal Royalty

A few other possibilities
Heroic Profession-Fireman, Police, Military
Geek
Paranormal Romance
Holiday Romance Most are Christmas but I seen other holidays too.
Billionaire Romance

I also have a challenge that did Aussie authors. Could do a task that has you read an author from a certain country and say that it is a romance. Example: Aussie Romance Author.

I like Books You Wish More People Knew About. There are a lot of good books that don't get the buzz for some reason.

Not sure yet, Katharina. It all depends on my job situation. If I'm still sitting on my behind come January, I may start it then. If I get a new job soon, then I may delay the challenge until the spring.

message 42: by Katharina (new)

Katharina | 802 comments Thanks for the quick reply and I wish you the best of luck on your job hunt even if it delays the challenge.
