Warcraft Well Read discussion

Perhaps it's me, but it seems like " take these characters that have no business doing anything together, slam them together and see what conflict happens" for half of the book. Krassus x Rhonin. Tyrandre x Broxigar. Rhonin x Broxigar. Krassus x Korialstraz. Etc. seems like a elementary school way to develop plot. We also have the same problem of the critical climax being ~10 pages from the end of the book that all Warcraft books have.

I know for a fact this book has turned people away from the wow books and lore. A unknowing reader see a Archive and thinks "oh a collections of stories that should serve a good jumping on point." Not so much.

That said it is the strongest of the 3 War of ancients books. Tavercast did a great reading the original non Knaak War of the Ancients that I personally still hold dear. http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.m...

I actually LOVE this book. I really like Broxigar the Red. An Orc with PTSD and survivor's gilt really shows that even being big and tough can't stop the very human emotions he feels. I'd love to explain farther if you want a guest on the round table.

Broxigar is one of my favorite characters in this book. he really makes me respect the Orcs as a race, to see how honorable they could be.

Of Blood and Honor by Chris Metzen also gives you that feeling :)

I am going to follow suit and agree the Broxigar is a standout character. His shame for not falling in battle gives us incite to the mind of an orc warrior. Most would claim glory or honor for surving such a encounter with demons but not Brox.

I loved the book. I played during vanilla and the beginning of BC, and then came back at end of Wrath (3 years now) and only in the last year really got into the lore, and this opened my eyes, I am really looking forward to reading more books with this group and just opening my eyes more to this world we all love so much.

Ack! I am not quite done! I'll be working on finishing up Well of Eternity in the next couple days. The Demon Soul is next! I have NO idea of what to expect with this upcoming book.

there never being a real resolution isn't just a warcraft failing. Its like no cuddling after well... you know.

For me, the problem with the book isn't that it had extraneous conflict, but that it had so many extraneous characters. My problem with Knaak is that he inserts his own characters into books that are ostensibly about Malfurion, Tyrande and Illidan. I really don't understand the point of inserting these characters through time travel. It adds additional headaches and detracts from the focus of the book. It almost seems like it was a case of the author not wanting to write the story without his babies. This book is so very meh.

I've struggled to get through it...which always happens when I read a Knaak book. They put me to sleep.
