30.1 Sheila/Kathy G's task- It's Spring Cleaning Time!

We may live in opposite parts of the country but we both have the dreaded spring cleaning ahead of us. Please help us accomplish our goal by completing 2 different options from the list below. Oh and thanks for helping!

Option 1: Let's start by sorting and decluttering. Sort your To Be Read/Want to Read list by date added and read one of the 25 books that has been on the list the longest. Optional: How long has the book been on the list?

Option 2: Clean up a series that you are wanting to finish by reading any book that is part of a series. The series must be identified on Goodreads. For this task, a series is defined as at least 3 published books in the series as of March 1, 2013

Option 3: Sweep things under the rug where they can't be seen. Read a book with mystery listed on its homepage.

Option 4: We DO Windows - read a book with a window on the cover. Required: Post the cover.

Option 5: We need help! We wish we could hire a maid. Read a book that is "maid for love" and has romance listed on its homepage.

Option 6: Now that the patio furniture is out and cleaned up it is time for a well deserved break. Put on a light jacket, grab your favorite drink and go outside and enjoy that warm spring sunshine while you read any book that you choose.

Required: Please identify the options when you post.

D.G. I love tasks that make me read old books form the TBR. I have books from 2008 in there!

Dee (austhokie) | 8947 comments man, I hate cleaning my windows, but yay, I found a book with windows on the cover ;)

message 12: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty | 85 comments im a rookie here, this seems like a dumb question but when you go to a book's page where is the 'main' genre listed? I want to use the notebook for option 5. The top Genre listed is romance so is that counted as it's main genre??

message 13: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) | 2221 comments Any of the genres listed on the notebooks main page would count as the genres. Romance is listed so it works fine but it would not have had to be listed in the number 1/top position. Clear as mud Kirsty? Oh by the way welcome to the SRC, you are going to love it.

message 14: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty | 85 comments thanks, yeah i kinda realised as i was writing that i'd already answered my own question in my head! I'm can tell im already addicted since its midnight and im still planning what im going to read instead of going to sleep since i have work at 7am!

message 15: by Kathy G. (new)

Kathy G. | 1931 comments Hi Kirsty-- You will LOVE the SRC. Sheila and I have been doing it a LONG time--- Sheila longer than I.

Welcome to the club... ;-)

Nicki (luluminstrel) | 279 comments Would this work for a window? The window frame is supposed to be the edge of the cover.

The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson

Thanks :)

message 18: by Kathy G. (new)

Kathy G. | 1931 comments I would accept that as a window. It goes with the title. :-)

Chaitra (chaitra_ganesh) | 518 comments Sheila/Kathy,

Is the window sufficient in this cover?
This Magnificent Desolation A Novel by Thomas O'Malley

message 22: by April (new)

April This task is just not fair. I could read 4 of the 6 tasks this month!

Series, Romance, Oldest TBR, and then anything I want? Man, I wish this was two tasks.

message 23: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) | 2221 comments Sorry about that April. I hate when that happens, lol

Nick (doily) | 3392 comments Would this count as a window?

The Red-Haired Girl from the Bog The Landscape of Celtic Myth and Spirit by Patricia Monaghan

There's no actual pane, so there's nothing to clean. But it's definitely an aperture in the wall meant to be looked out of. ??

Thank you! :)

message 26: by Kathy G. (new)

Kathy G. | 1931 comments Nick- that isn't clearly a window to me. It could be a doorway--- the way the title and deco blocks the bottom and top.

Sorry.

Thanks. There are plenty of places to put it.

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) Veterans Way by Robin Lee Hatcher Just want to make sure that this one is ok. There are plenty of windows and glad I'm not the one cleaning them lol especially in a diner.....grease,fingerprints,and who knows what else :/

message 29: by Andy (new)

Andy Plonka (plonkaac) | 4207 comments I'd like to check that the cover of this book Cloudland by Joseph Olshan fits the criteria for Option 4, window on the cover. There is a house on the right which has two visible windows though the scene is deliberately made "cloudy" to go with the title, I suppose.

message 30: by Kathy G. (new)

Kathy G. | 1931 comments Robin and Andy---

Both of these books work for "windows" on the cover.

:-)

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) Thanks Kathy!!!!!

Sheila (sheilaj) | 2221 comments Hey Penny, I would hate to be the person that has to wash those windows, but yes they look like windows to me.

message 35: by Penny (new)
