I have those books on my "to read" list. They look very interesting and I'm looking forward to reading them.

Bottomfeeder, Nightblood, Afterage, Enter, Night
and for series:
Vampire Apocalypse: A World Torn Asunder, Way of the Wolf
I hope to see more interesting recommendations here to add to my list!

"The Orange Eats Creeps contains the hallucinatory, disjointed, plotless, yet bizarrely charming ravings of a young refugee from foster care who now belongs to a pack of teenage hobo vampires that rove convenience stores and supermarkets high on Robitussin and mop buckets of coffee."—Newsday

Burden Kansas by Alan Ryker and its follow up were both crazy. Plus, the cover is cool.

For a good helping of humor with your werewolf, I would recommend:

WOLF HUNT was outrageous (in a good way!)... I hear there's a sequel planned. BURDEN KANSAS was a great read! I bought the sequel, BLOOD TELLS TRUE, but haven't gotten to it yet.

I just added it to the "want-too-read" list. BTW, great review, Charlene!!

I think that's the same way I found him, Kimberly. I loved Sandkings so much that I tried to get my hands on more works by him. This was way before the whole Game of Thrones thing. But I do love those too. Well, most of them, anyway. :)

Okay, I'm now about 60% through HAG NIGHT by Tim Curran, and can happily report that none of the vampire-type-creatures here sparkle in any way!! :)

LOL...let's hope that no one else ever comes along and makes them sparkle ever again.

I thought of a couple more old school vampire books. Has anyone read them?
The Light at the End by Skipp & Spector
They Thirst by Robert McCammon.
These are both 80s novels, and I think The Light at the End was widely considered to be the first splatterpunk novel.

We need to do a "buddy re-read" of one of his books! (I've never done the buddy-read before).

I'll keep that in mind Kimberly. Buddy reads are always good for a group.

Alright, it won't be anytime soon but we will set a time for us to read THEY THIRST as a buddy read. :)

Yes, we will read it. I don't know when, but soon. I will have to get myself a copy of They Thirst. Don't worry, I won't forget.

You could have posted in in the "Hate Twilight" thread, but that's cool. I agree, I hate seeing that everywhere.
