Not only is she a bad writer, but she really isn't a nice person...

I knew she was a horrible writer, and a less than intelligent human being, but I had no idea she was a bitchy lunatic as well! Live and learn.

Oh I'm not surprised, I heard she actually charges those poor kids money for a damned autograph. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think that's right.

message 4: by Lucy, Give me FANGS not SPARKLES (new)

I agree!! Oh, because she hasn't made enough money with the books and movies??? Selfish cow!

LOL...I love how we see eye to eye, Lucy. Did you know that Meyer wrote Twilight without every even watching a vampire movie or reading a vampire book?

message 6: by Lucy, Give me FANGS not SPARKLES (new)

Lucy | 61 comments Mod
I did not know that...but that doesn't surprise me at all since she basically sh*t on everything to do with vampire lore.

message 7: by Dan, destroyer of vegan vampire sissies (new)

Dan (dan2345) | 881 comments Mod
I know right? That's my major problem with Twilight! She may have possibly ruined my favorite monster!!

message 8: by Lucy, Give me FANGS not SPARKLES (new)

Lucy | 61 comments Mod
Did you read the links I posted to the editing room? They basically abridge scripts to movies in a hysterically funny fashion. They destroyed Twilight! LOL And, they made mention of the fact that Meyer ruined two iconic monsters in the process...and wondered if she would take on Frankenstein and the mummy next. :)

message 9: by Dan, destroyer of vegan vampire sissies (new)

Dan (dan2345) | 881 comments Mod
Actually Meyer's next book will be about zombies who aspire to become professional ballerinas.

message 10: by Lucy, Give me FANGS not SPARKLES (new)

Lucy | 61 comments Mod
LOL!!!! That was hysterical!! Dawn of the Swan Lake! ;)

Dan (dan2345) | 881 comments Mod
Dawn of the Swan Lake???

message 12: by Lucy, Give me FANGS not SPARKLES (new)

Lucy | 61 comments Mod
Yep...zombie ballet. It's the sequel to Night of the Living Swan Lake. :)

message 13: by Dan, destroyer of vegan vampire sissies (new)

Dan (dan2345) | 881 comments Mod
Wait....somebody actually wrote a book about zombie ballerinas? I was just making that up.

message 14: by Lucy, Give me FANGS not SPARKLES (new)

Lucy | 61 comments Mod
No...I was just joking, however, you've now given me an idea! Heck, if "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" can make the Times bestseller list, and Meyer can ruin both vampires and werewolves...I don't see why I shouldn't cash in on zombie ballerinas. lol

message 15: by Dan, destroyer of vegan vampire sissies (new)

Dan (dan2345) | 881 comments Mod
Hey! Seth Grahame-Smithe is a good writer!

message 16: by Lucy, Give me FANGS not SPARKLES (new)

Lucy | 61 comments Mod
Are you saying I'm not?? LOL ;) Actually, I am currently reading "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" and enjoying it immensely...I'm just saying that I need to cash in on zombie ballerinas. Just think...decaying flesh in tutus...it's genius I tell you!

Well, Lucy, I say knock yourself out. Hey, if Meyer can get published anyone can. LOL. I have not read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies yet but it's on my tbr shelf. I did enjoy Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter very much, one of my favorite books! I think Grahame-Smith is awesome. I was dissapointed, however, in that Tim Burton/Johnny Depp Dark Shadows movie. Seth Grahame-Smith wrote the screenplay for that. THAT MOVIE WAS HORRIBLE!!!

I haven't seen the movie, and I really have no desire to. I remember the TV show, and when I saw the trailer for the movie I was disappointed with the apparent direction they were taking with the story.

You are talking about Dark Shadows, correct?

message 20: by Lucy, Give me FANGS not SPARKLES (new)

Lucy | 61 comments Mod
Yes...I remember the TV show. The movie looked kinda bad from what I saw in the trailers.

message 21: by Dan, destroyer of vegan vampire sissies (new)

Dan (dan2345) | 881 comments Mod
Oh it was such a disappointment. Johnny Depp said one of the reasons he and Tim Burton wanted to do that movie was because he did like the way current vampires are portrayed, and wanted to bring back the classic vampire. I was a fan of the show, I watched some of the reruns and The Dark Shadows reboot back when I was a kid (1992). My mom used to tell me how the original Dark Shadows tv show was a big thing back in the day, and she used to run home from school to watch it. She doesn't like vampires but she said she watched Dark Shadows...lol. Well, I don't get what happened with the movie. I mean, Tim Burton and Johnny Depp did Sleepy Hollow, and that was scary and taken seriously. Why couldn't they have done something like that with Dark Shadows?

message 22: by Lucy, Give me FANGS not SPARKLES (new)

Lucy | 61 comments Mod
I don't know...maybe some producer somewhere stepped in, or the studio. I had high hopes for the movie when I heard it was coming out...but after seeing the trailer, I didn't even bother to see the movie. And then friends saw it and confirmed my suspicions. I don't know what went wrong...because Burton and Depp can both do dark. (loved Sleepy Hollow by the way)

Yeah, I know what you mean. You would think that they would be good at that...making a Dark Shadows movie I mean. I don't get it either, I mean...I read on Wikipedia that Johnny Depp actually fantasized as a child that he was Barnabas Collins. Well, I'm hoping they try to resurect Dark Shadows again in a few years, only do a good job!

Anyway, let's get back to ripping on Stephenie Meyer.

What Stephenie Meyer does...

message 28: by Joanne Farley (new)

Joanne Farley Wow I haven't laughed like this in a while. And I think you have hit the nail on the head in terms of popularity of books. I am a member of a vampire movie club - we sometimes branch out and read books you can imagine the discussions we have had re twilight with your permission I would like to share this.

I don't know, I heard she was writing a book about ghosts or something. I'll have to look it up.

message 32: by Jason (new)

Jason (jokers_knight_out) I'd read before about her treatment of fans. Maybe I should bring my stepsis (a self-proclaimed diecore twihard) to a Smeyer book signing to reveal her witchy side. I've met a few Mormons before and they're very amiable, wonder how Steph went wrong? By the way, that graph on how she writes seems accurate.
Oh, true story to tell: back in '08, I decided to check out a copy of Twilight to see what made it popular. I couldn't read half of it due to excessive boredom with the... "writing" style. On my way to bring it back to the library, I ended getting brutally assaulted (case of mistaken identity), the only good thing? That copy of Twilight got permanently ruined by the rainstorm that day. Imagine the irony.

Twilight was created by the devil.

message 34: by Jason (new)

Jason (jokers_knight_out) Well, I do believe Mormonism to be a cult, so you can't be too far off with that statement ;)

LOL. I said that for shtis and giggles. But I don't like Mormonism either. I've heard some really wierd shit about it....

Char I read an excellent book on fundamental Mormons:

I'm sorry and no offense to anyone, but fundamental Mormons are a bit messed up. The fundies still believe in polygamy. They shut out the entire world to keep a tight rein on their community. No regular TV, books or music, etc...

That begs the question, why Forks? Rain, or no black people. Aside from Lord of Rings, I haven't seen a movie that White in a long time.

Did you know that Stephenie Meyer is accused of racial profiling in Twilight?

Jevron McCrory (jevronmccrory) | 28 comments What's racial profiling? I'm stupid.

message 44: by Angela (new)

Angela | 56 comments I do not know what Stephenie Meyer is but a lover of dark fiction, she is not. It is too bad that she appears not to be a nice person. However, the real problem with The Twilight Saga is her lack of writing skills and very poor research. I have read all of the books and seen all of the films as well. The idea of a love story between a young girl and a vampire is good. Unfortunately, the wording of her books makes them a difficult read at best. There are entire chapters that are no more than badly written auto-erotica.

message 45: by Angela (new)

Angela | 56 comments What I loathe the most about The Twilight Saga is the poor research. All of the main characters had such thin back stories. The treatment of the Native American Skinwalkers was just an insult. The legend of the Vampir handled very badly. When I first heard that the books would become films I expected that a quality screenwriter with a team of researchers would make for better films than the books would suggest, sadly no such luck.

message 46: by Dan, destroyer of vegan vampire sissies (new)

Dan (dan2345) | 881 comments Mod
Those are some of my biggest complaints, Angela. The treatment of Native Americans and the legend of the vampire I mean.

message 47: by Angela (last edited Aug 20, 2014 06:39AM) (new)

Angela | 56 comments I can only agree, Dan. The treatment of the vampire legend is wretched. Because their back stories were so thin all of the characters had very little depth. The vampires should have behaved as vampires would. The vegan vampire idea has no logic. Vampires feed on lifeforce. The lifeforce of animals is far lesser than humans. So any vampire feeding only on animal blood would have dulled senses and a low lifeforce. Plus if they are drinking any kind of blood they cannot be vegan. Blood is not vegan. Now, if they were say sucking the juice from a stalk of celery...
