Please take the time to introduce yourself and tell us a little about yourself and what kind of books you write. If you are a reader, please tell us about your favorite self published books.

I'll start... My name is Jessica Marie Gilliland and I am the author of Anomaly, Fracture, A Collection of Souls and Kill of the Night. I am a huge sci fi/fantasy nerd. My influences are Disney, Joss Whedon and Guillermo Del Toro and my own twisted imagination :) I love that I am able to self publish my novels and create my own cover art but I'm still working toward traditional publishing to further my reach.

Cyndi Goodgame | 35 comments 6th grade language arts..I know what kids likeand read so adhering to their lingo is fascinating. It is not that different from my day. Just the texting acronyms.

message 49: by Marysue (new)

Marysue | 10 comments Before I had kids of my own, I taught Spanish to 8th and 9th graders.

I keep a mental log of slang words teens use - but I should write them down. Writing dialogue to match how real teens talk is an area I'm working to improve upon.

message 50: by Darrell (new)

Darrell Drake (darrelldrake) I actually did a great deal of research on slang (though not really contemporary slang) for my second book. Helped inject some character, I think.
