Cassandra Giovanni | 35 comments Cassandra Giovanni is an avid writer of young adult novels and can't wait to share her work with you. The genres of her novels include dystopian, paranormal, mystery and romance all aimed at appealing to adults and young adults alike. Her personal goal with her writing is to show the reader the character's stories through their dialogue and actions instead of just telling the reader what is happening. She began writing at a very young age, in fact from the moment she could draw she was telling stories that way. At age seven she won a contest in American Girl Doll to have a chapter she had written published. From that point on she was always writing, if not on paper than in her head. In May 2012 she published her first novel, In Between Seasons, which demonstrated her unique writing style and approach to the genre of post-apocalyptic fiction. On Halloween 2012 Cassandra released her second novel, Walking in the Shadows. This novel puts a new twist on the obsession of vampires in literature and explores some of the darkest parts of human nature, while still showing that there is always hope--if we only choose to believe in ourselves.
Walking in the Shadows by Cassandra Giovanni
Seconds seem like a lifetime when the life you lived is slowly drained out of you by those who care not what you felt, hoped, or dreamed. When the darkness comes it is all-consuming; there is no light and there is no pain. It is the never-ending loss of hope that now consumes me as I die in his arms.

This is Abigail Martin’s nightmare. After her parents become the first victims of a serial killer obsessed with the vampire saga, "Crimson Reign," Abigail does the only thing that she thinks will save her from her parent’s fate–she becomes some one else. As Vera MacIntrye, she falls in love with the very handsome Tad Knightley, and then walks into her first day at her new school to see him standing at the front of the classroom. He’s every teenage girls fantasy, but as he writes “Mr. Knightley: AP British Literature” across the white board Vera realizes the one person who filled the gaping hole in her heart will soon rip it wide open again.

Vera struggles to adjust to being a ‘normal’ teenager with very adult responsibilities like paying the rent, buying groceries and making sure that lights stay on, while being drawn time and time again back to her off-limits teacher. What’s worse is he is drawn to her too, and their worlds refuse to stay apart when Tad finds Vera screaming in terror in the parking lot after the winter formal. The murderer has struck again and is getting closer to the next target–Vera. Tad will do whatever he can to save her, even if it means losing his dream job, but will it be enough when the murderer is closer than anyone ever thought?

In Between Seasons (The Fall, #1) by Cassandra Giovanni
At eighteen there is one thing Kate Ericson is certain of—the world is at war and has been since she was two years old. That was when her father pulled her family and a group of close friends to a God forsaken place in the middle of nowhere. For Kate there is no escape from the sea of lies she is drowning in until her world collides with Hunter Marks—the son of her father's biggest opponent. An opponent that Kate didn't even know existed. What Hunter kidnaps Kate for, and what her family will try to kill her to keep secret, is a knowledge that she doesn't have. Now Kate’s innocence seems to becoming undone at the seams of reality. Hunter then finds himself fighting the hopelessness that is creeping into the edges of her heart as she learns more about the corruption that has devoured their lives. As Hunter and Kate forge a strong and unique relationship it becomes clear that their love is something that the bureaucracy never expected, and that Hunter's father will do whatever he can to destroy it. Hunter believes he must sacrifice love in order to teach Kate that the world's deadliest weapon is her. Hunter and Kate will have to find the strength to rise above a deception that is so great, even the ones who created it don't realize its depth.

In Between Seasons is a new kind of post-apocalyptic novel, one that focuses on the characters and uses the lack of understanding of a corrupt world as the backdrop to shape them into who they are as people.

D.D. Chant (DDChant) | 6 comments Hi everyone!
My name is DeeDee, I’m twenty six and I live in a beautiful part of Devon, England with my family. I have a younger sister, Amy, who is a brilliant guitar player, some chickens, duck, geese, pheasants, a cat (that adopted us when we moved in!!!) and some koi.
Broken City is actually my second novel, my first, as my Aunt so delicately put it, was crazy but in my defence I was only sixteen at the time. On the plus side I learnt a lot (or so I hope) and two years later ‘Broken City’ was finished. I am proud to be able to announce that I am 70.000 words into the next book in the series: 'Broken City: Truce'!
I have also written another book ‘The Promise’, which is set in Saxon England and is the beginning of a series, and I have just finished my third book 'Fracture' which is set in the distant future and is also the start of a series. It will be available for purchase early this year!!! I have a series of short stories 'Claire and the Party' 'and Claire and the haircut of Doom' which I just released this month.
I also like to cook and wear impractical high heels!!! And as you might have noticed I have a horrible addiction to exclamation marks!!!

Angela (angelaroquet) photo angela1.jpg Urban Fantasy Author Angela Roquet is a great big weirdo. She collects Danger Girl comic books, owls, skulls, and random craft supplies. She no longer collects paperback books, because she can’t fit any more in her office, however she does collect ebooks. She has an unhealthy obsession with television shows created by Joss Whedon and fantasizes about him directing television or film versions of her novels. Angela’s favorite book/movie is The Wizard of Oz. She likes a little coffee in her cream, and her favorite food is sushi, even though it’s takes her FOREVER to make. Angela is a peace loving, tree hugging hippy who tries to buy organic and local as often as possible. She’s a fan of renewable energy sources, marriage equality, and religious tolerance. As long as whatever you’re doing isn’t hurting anyone, she’s a fan of you, too. Angela lives in Sedalia, Missouri with her husband and son. Beth Michele (bethmichelewriter) | 4 comments HI all,

My name is Beth Michele and I'm a new indie author of a soon to be released New Adult novel entitled Love Love. When I'm not writing, I am reading NA/YA novels furiously. Thanks for this opportunity! Here is the synopsis and some links:
--------------------------

Gabrielle Willis is smart. She's funny. And oh yes, she's a bit klutzy.

When Gabrielle leaves sunny California bound for the energy of Manhattan, she was willingly leaving the life she had known, for the new life she would create. But was she really leaving something behind, or was she running away.

On the outside Gabrielle Willis has it all under control. A new life in Manhattan, a great roommate, and a good job. But she was haunted. Haunted by a memory she's tried to forget, and by a family who's abandoned her. But what happens when what's on the outside is only an illusion, and in perfect contradiction to what's buried deep within.

Enter Dane Rhodes. He's gorgeous, smart, and sexy as hell. Just what Gabby wants, or so she thinks. But when she meets Brad Dixon, the sweet guy with the crooked smile, he begins to make her see that the very thing she is trying to run from, is the very thing that just may push her to see the light.

Sara Burr (sarafurlongburr) | 8 comments Hi, everyone! I'm Sara Burr, a paralegal/indie author from Michigan. I have two wonderful daughters and a husband who is in the Army. My favorite books to read are YA/NA novels and dystopians. Not surprisingly, those are also my favorite books to write. ;-) My first novel, Enigma Black, is the first in an anticipated trilogy. Currently, I'm working on the sequel entitled Vendetta Nation.

Here is the synopsis:

When she was just seventeen, the course of Celaine Stevens' life was permanently altered with the murders of her father, mother, and brother in one of a series of mysterious and violent explosions occurring across the country. Struggling with picking up the pieces, she's haunted by the memory of that day and her promise of retribution against those responsible for her misery. But just as she seems to be getting her life back on track, an encounter with a mysterious stranger promises her the vengeance she desires, ultimately turning the former target into the assassin.

However, as she soon learns, all choices come with consequences. And the consequence of her choice threatens to destroy the very fabric of her being.

Darrell Drake (darrelldrake) Howdy-hi, everyone! I'm Darrell Drake and I write . . . what was that phrase? That downy inter-dorsal isthmus between sword and sorcery and romance. That. I write that.

When not dutifully scrawling novels and the occasional article, Darrell can be found petting his wife or bathing with his frolicsome cat. They're both spry and easily beguiled by plastic springs, so he often confuses the two when typing his biographies in third-person.

If populating a map for military conquest, it would be accurate to neatly place his tiny walnut idol—artillery, maybe—somewhere in Toronto, Ontario. His ammunition would be writing, reading, gaming, slumbering and catting; not the naughty whipping sort but activities involving cats. Catting.

That's me! I've authored Within Ruin and Everautumn, the first two entries in The Flameforged Saga, and am presently working on an untitled novella in the same setting. Ta and hooroo!

Hello!!! I am absolutely loving these opportunities to get to know other authors. My name is Krista Madden and here is my bio:
New to the writing community, Krista Madden has always had a passion for telling stories. The oldest of four, she was a daughter of military and followed her family to various duty stations throughout the United States. Finally settling in Missouri, she immersed herself in musical activities which included playing the flute and bassoon. Actively involved in music, Krista has always been fascinated with creativity and the arts.

Often, she would spend time with her Aunt and Uncle and their in-laws. Collectors of vintage items, Krista fondly remembers their room full of hats from eras of the past. As an outgoing teen, she enjoyed creating impromptu skits for her younger cousin, assigning and performing a different character for each hat.

Years later, after marriage and the birth of her twin boys, she was determined to complete her Associate of Arts degree with honors and proceed into the medical field. As an X-Ray student, she excelled academically as well as in clinical practice when her mind became restless. While on Holiday break from school, Krista felt the urge to dampen boredom by converting a recent daydream into a novella. Instantly, she was hooked on writing.

Krista now lives with her husband and twin sons in Saint Robert, MO where she is always looking for new characters to create, and stories to unfold.

I recently released my first Novella, 3Days, and I am anxious to release more.

3 Days

Kara Laquin wanted nothing more than to forget. Forget the past, live in the present, and ignore the future. When a massive solar flare destroys all electronics and throws the country into chaos, Kara is nearly a whole state away from her lost love, Blaine. He can wait only three days before moving on. With access to fuel limited, she must do anything necessary to get to him before he is forced to move on, but society is crumbling around her. Looters and murderers prowl the cities during the day, and something even worse roams at night.

Sandra Bennett | 22 comments Children's Author Sandra Bennett lives on a tranquil little property just outside of Canberra, Australia, where her nearest neighbours that disturb her the most (primarily at dawn) with their snorting and ocassional boxing are the kangaroos grazing in her front paddock. She adores all the natural wildlife that comes visiting, the roos, womabts, echidnas, and the many colourful birds, but not the snakes or spiders!
Sandra has written lots of stories for children over the years while she was teaching Primary school, but most of these remain purely for the classes they were written about.
Gingerberad Aliens is the first she has decided to self publish and share with other children.
Entice your young readers with a glimpse into intrigue, fun and hilarious moments when three mischievous brothers discover the snow balling effects of their mistakes rather than facing the consequences of their initial disaster! A great read for ages 4-10 and beyond. Gingerbread Aliens is full of fun, laughter and entertainment that will have children and their parents giggling all the way to the end,
Meet the three cheeky Bradberrie brothers, Brian the curious scientist, Simon the youngest and most mischievous and David who is always nervous about all the trouble they inevitably get into. Then there’s Mrs Witherbottom, the nosy neighbour with the biggest bottom in the world and a whopper of a tale to match. Havoc in the kitchen spells disaster in the school grounds as Principal Penwright closes the school. Is it a rock? Is it a football? Is it the charred remains of a spaceship and its strange looking alien inhabitant? All will be revealed with humour and a whole lot of fun.
Gingerbread Aliens is already being used in classrooms in Canberra and NSW for literacy activities with reluctant readers, reading recovery and ESL, not to mention reading just for enjoyment.
It has been selected for use in the 2013 Australian National Eisteddfod Championship Section of the Speech and Drama Division for 10 years and under.
This is part one of a series of five planned books based around the mischievous adventures of the Bradberrie Brothers and their mishaps with science experiments. Part two “Alien Shenanigans” is almost complete. It should be ready for release mid this year.

Karen | 7 comments Karen Musser Nortman-For my third career, I have come full circle to my childhood dream of fiction writing. I taught eighth grade history for 17 years and government and economics to seniors for 5 years. After I retired from teaching I worked for a major testing company developing jobs skills tests for 18 years. Retired again and published my first book of a cozy mystery series, Bats and Bones. Bats and Bones (The Frannie Shoemaker Campground Mysteries, #1) by Karen Musser Nortman

The series follows the adventures of Frannie and Larry Shoemaker and their friends, mostly retired baby boomers, as they camp in parks and private campgrounds in Iowa and surrounding states, occasionally bumping into criminal activity and even murder.

In Bats and Bones, Frannie and her friends anticipate the usual hiking, campfires, good food, and interesting side trips among the bluffs of beautiful Bat Cave State Park for the long Fourth of July weekend—until a dead body turns up. Confined in the campground and surrounded by strangers, Frannie is drawn into the investigation. Bat Cave State Park is loosely based on Eastern Iowa's popular Maquoketa Caves State Park. As a bonus, each chapter ends with a camping tip or recipe—some useful, some not so much.

Gabriel Boutros | 22 comments Hi everyone,
I practiced criminal law for 24 years, and recently self-published my novel, a courtroom drama called "The Guilty." I've had a couple of short stories published before, but this is my first attempt at a full length novel. During my career as a defense attorney I saw many honest, ethical lawyers who worked hard to guarantee that anyone accused of a crime got a fair trial. These were honorable men and women who took their obligation to defend their clients to the best of their abilities very seriously. But, occasionally, I would meet a lawyer who would gladly cross the ethical line, as long as he, and his client, came out winners. And, sometimes, in the heat of battle, and under the pressures that a major trial can create, even some honest lawyers made decisions that they later came to regret. In writing "The Guilty" I pictured the main character, Robert Bratt, a top-notch criminal lawyer, as someone who is essentially a good person, but whose need to win has led him to forget his inherent honesty, and driven him to do things that he wished he hadn't. This story is about how, after twenty years of doing whatever was needed in the defense of the most hardened criminals, he begins having conflicted feelings about himself and his profession, at the same time he is hired to defend a young gang member accused of a double-murder.
This book is loosely based on a multiple-murder that occurred in Montreal in the 1990s.

Michelle Cameron (michellecameron) | 9 comments I'm definitely an indie author, with three titles published, though two of them are non-fiction, and the third is a new adult (chicklit) romance.

Professionally I work with job seekers, so I've co-authored a training guide about creating a new visually appealing CV, "CV & Resume 2013", and a Spanish guide that covers the same topic, for the specifics of the Spanish and latino market, "Currículum 2013 ¡Ne Seas uno más, sé tú!"

The romance novel, "Emily's Ronda Romance", is about a young English woman and her boyfriend who win a Valentine weekend in Spain. The only trouble is that Emily didn't win first prize, an engagement ring. So, she spends most of the weekend agonising over how to manipulate her boyfriend into proposing to her.

As for me, I'm just normal, a happy go lucky traveller in the world. I avoid conflict, and I'm always looking for new friends.

B.B. Shepherd (bbshepherd) | 18 comments I missed this thread before! My bio:

A graduate of Cal Poly with graduate work at Chapman and U C Santa Cruz, I have lived most of my life in California, loving the diverse beauty of its many landscapes. I continue my education in many areas--I don't think I'll ever be done completely! Music, horses, literature, and art have been my passions as long as I can remember. I also enjoy almost all horse sports and extreme sports (especially those involving boards and motorcycles), and am addicted to research. I admit to being a hopeless romantic and often get in trouble for my sense of humor.

My current writing project is a four novel series that falls loosely into YA contemporary though I don't consider myself specifically a YA author. The first novel, The Glister Journals: Bronze, is published and will be released as an e-book soon. I'll let you know when it's available for free!

The story follows a girl (fourteen at the beginning of the first book) and her friends through high school. But Allison doesn't experience the world in quite the same way as her friends, and they're trying to cope with their own worlds the best way they can too. Horses and assumptions are major themes. Yes, there will be romance. :)

Haha, I seem to have missed this thread too, thanks for posting BB ;)

I've been an indie author since 2011 when I published my first novel Freedom Come All Ye (of course, it was hardly my first novel ever) and I have learned so much since then!

I write mostly historical fiction novels, a lot of which focus on themes such as brotherhood, family, loyalty, and cultural differences and how people on opposite sides of the spectrum can become like family. My newest novel, which will be out on June 3rd (very excited!) is A Case of Poisons and is my first mystery novel, as well as my first plunge into the world of steampunk. It's the first book in a series about my private detective Anthony Maxwell, and while this one isn't quite as steampunky as it could be, I've got some more really awesome steampunk things coming later on as the series progresses.

Apart from writing, I'm a huge reader, and I try to review as many books as I can too. I also write a blog http://hazelwest.blogspot.com where I write oftentimes humorous articles about the writing life or tips for writers and others in the Indie family as well as share excerpts and book reviews. I'm currently working on starting up a virtual book tour website, that you will all be hearing more about once it's all set up, but I'm very excited about that as well =)

Ryans released this year to kick off my Nine Realms series, which I've mapped into a collection of trilogies and novellas, which follow the mythical and mystical lives of the Graftfield family.

I write multiple genres, but most will fall into NA/Adult romance, fantasy, mythology, or paranormal. But I have begun dabbling into M/M PNR too. I chose to publish independently because I'm a closet control freak, plus the majority of my favorite authors are Indie.

Rae Z. Ryans currently resides in Tumbleweed, Alabama, with her four demons (cats), three lycans (dogs), three sprites (kiddos), and her “normal” mood-shifting husband. She has lived all over the east coast and was born in Fairbanks, Alaska. Contrary to popular belief, Rae has never lived in an igloo.

She claims to be a socially awkward mouth breather, who also owns a pink elephant that buy shoes. While there is plenty of proof that Rae loves shoes, no one has been able to prove the existence of Punky, the pink elephant. She would point out that we can’t disprove it either.

Rae is an alternate ego who enjoys writing urban and historical fantasy in her spare time. In real life she isn’t very funny, and often comes off as sarcastic. In reality, Rae is down to earth and goes with the flow.

She is currently working on a horror short story, and her series, Nine Realms.

E.V. Shlychkova | 1 comments Hi everybody! I’m a writer from Russia. This is my first novel in English. The Rusmolovo Diaries by E. V. Shlychkova

This is a lost diary of an 18-year old girl that was found by a cleaning lady in the bar toilet in the small settlement outside St. Petersburg, Russia. Nobody has yet claimed it and it’s understandable considering many graphic sex details and dirty little secrets it contains (being raped on her birthday and sleeping with her sister’s husband are not the biggest of them). But if you keep an open mind you’ll find that behind all the sex and cynical observations, there is a vulnerable girl who, like all of us, strives for love and beauty.

Please note that the book is for adults only as it has a bunch of graphic sex details.
For review purposes, I can provide a file in mobi, PDF and Epub.

Garrison Kelly (cybador) Garrison Kelly has been writing creatively since January 2002 and made it official with an English degree in 2009 from Western Washington University. He’s tried to find work ever since completing school, but so far, no dice. His only source of income is through social security payments as he is mentally disabled with schizophrenia and autism. Mental illnesses are a favorite topic of his to discuss when writing, as are liberal politics, violent situations, anti-bullying politics, heavy metal music, and the occasional shy guy love story. Garrison’s favorite writers include, but are not limited to Carl Hiaasen, Lilian Jackson Braun, Brett Battles, and Susan Cain. Four flash drives full of first drafts along with reading countless novels has lead to the publication of two multiple genre anthologies and a blog, all three of which can be found in the links below:

Christine Manzari (christine_manzari) | 1 comments My name is Christine Manzari. I'm a mom. I'm a writer. I'm addicted to books and coke (the caffeine-laden bubbly kind). I also have a weakness for inappropriate humor. My book bio is a lot more interesting than mine, although I have better hair.

Meet my first novel . . .

DEVIATION

Being a Sophisticate of the Program seems like it’d be a pretty sweet deal: a little genetic alteration and anyone can be smarter, faster, and stronger. It’s a dream come true. All you have to give up is your freedom.

Cleo is a Sophisticate and she has a bright future in the Program. But she has a secret. When she gets upset, bad things happen. Explosive things. Things she can’t control.

When her secret is discovered, she’s sent to the Academy to train in the military branch of the Program. She’s destined to be a human weapon in the war that’s been going on since Wormwood occurred nearly 30 years ago. She soon learns that although her ability is unique, there are others like her — other Sophisticates with lethal skills and odd code names like Archerfish and Mimic Octopus.

Immersed in a dangerous game of supernatural powers and dubious motives, Cleo doesn’t know who to trust. Ozzy, the annoyingly attractive cadet who has perfect aim in weapons class and deviant lips behind closed doors, begs her not to use her powers. He’s the golden boy of the Program, but can she trust him? Or will she find herself a target, caught in his crosshairs?

A.R. Adorno (paboy117) | 1 comments Hi my name is Alex, and I am the author of a book series “Adventures of The Young Warrior” (currently working on book 6) and after several years I have recently been able to publish my first book “The World’s Fate”. It is a semi fantasy style adventure series, where I take ancient legends and prophecies and use real world locations and events to make these ancient warnings seem true. The books take place all over the world, one book may travel the entire globe and another may be one region/country, but they are mostly entertainment and greatly detailed.

They are about the son of a US military worker, who was killed mysteriously, and the boy sets out to better understand what his father was in search of, and how he died, and in the process he gets tangled up in unexpected situations that he has to fight his way out of.

This book tells of an artifact made by a Mesoamerican culture had been dug up nearly a half of a century ago. Shortly after, its pieces were scattered and buried around the world. It’s mystery tells of doom which could be fallen on the world caused by its own doing. With the events going on in the world, the son of a former U.S. military worker sets out to find the history of his past, and attempts to open the eyes of the people of the world before it’s too late.

I have recently used self publishing because I have pretty much spent my life writing stories and I love doing it, and I did not want to throw my hard work into the lap of just anyone while being pressured by my friends to get published. Advertising is expensive and face it when you are just starting out you don’t have much cash to sink into it.

you can get a full free copy in PDF on the book page here and a review/rate would be gladly appreciated. if you are interested in purchasing a copy, or need a link to provide for a blog, etc, let me know.

I hope you all enjoy my work!

Brenda Dyer (saukra) | 10 comments Hello there! My name is Brenda. I write vampire paranormal romance. I've been an indie author for a few years now, and I love it. My current series is called The Prophecy Series. I have books 1 and 2 published and I'm working on book 3. Although my books are part of a series, each one stands alone--has an HEA.

Love's Prophecy, book #1: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13...

Prophecy's Child, book #2: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18...

I was going to post my author bio, but decided to tell you a little about myself without it. I'm married and a mother of two teen boys--they are the main characters in my short zombie story called, Zomboro Virus. I live on a hobby farm with two mini horses, chickens, ducks, and an old dog we rescued from the SPCA named Rocky.
I think that's about it--oh, I eat oatmeal every morning. Hate the stuff, but it is supposed to be good for ya, lol.

Bran Gustafson (brangustafson) | 2 comments Hello! Not sure how active this thread still is, as the last post is from 2014, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

My name is Bran and I recently published my first novel, Coyote. You can find me at:

Brangustafson.com

Here's the description of my novel:

The Debut novel from the Untamed State.

Montezuma. The Untamed State. True now more than ever, since the Thunderbird Highway closed and civilization fled. Now Montezuma is a ghost state, a haven for the lawless where only the most savage thrive.

Mai is on the run from the law herself, driving down the abandoned highway through the desert, to the mountains where she was born. When her Bronco breaks down in the near-dead town of Maquina, she quickly makes several ruthless enemies trying to get back on the road. She also makes one friend, a laid-back bartender whose easy charm threatens to distract her from what she means to do. Mai is tough and she’s smart, but is that enough to get back on the road and survive the Untamed State?

Coyote is a hard-hitting neo-western, best enjoyed in a cheap roadside motel or in the corner booth of a dim dive bar with whiskey.
