VAMPIRES DON'T SPARKLE discussion

This Discussion is about the similarity between The Vampire Diaries and Twilight. I am posting this because someone in this group told me that The Vampire Diaries creators have a class action law suit against Stephenie Meyer. I would not be surprised.

Ehh,, they're both lame, IMO..

I only watched a view episodes of series 1 of TVD. While I found them extremely boring (like the books), I did not find similarities to Twilight, but I guess it's hard to tell with the little I saw.

I have only seen a few episodes of Vampire Diary so its hard for me to make a meaningful comment - what I will say is that Vampire Diaries was a lot darker then Twilight and I much prefer that.

VD is darker and not so much Bella pining boring stuff

I actually haven't watched The Vampire Diaries yet or read the books but I have heard it's better.

Someone in another group told me that TVD books were so bad that she would just give them to me....for free!! I gave her my mailing adress she has yet to send them. As for the show...I was into it for the first two seasons but then I lost interest.

Books are kinda lame, but the shows ok. At least the vampires don't sparkle.

I think the reason I put off checking the series out for myself is because everyone always seems too focused on how hot Stefan and Damon are lol

Being hot does not (in my eyes) count as a worthy comparison, Almost every show and movie the vampires are "hot" I mean look at True blood its basically (save for last season) vampire porn (not that I am complaining)

I don't mind if vamps are hot but they have to have other things going for them as well.

I don't mind if vampires are attractive either. In fact I take back what the "pretty boy vamps", I think Robert Pattinson and everyone else in Twilight look hideous.

i think Vampires are hot and Edward was really hot in Twilight. Vampire Diaries is like the best vampire show and i love how they play the vampires.

The vampire diaries can beat Edward any day espically Damen...sexy hottie

I just stopped watching that show.

I am with Dan; watched the show for first couple of seasons then just gave up. They started slow, but then got really good. Then by the third season they wrote the story into mess. They made it impossible to kill any of the vampires, then the vampires got nice, even Damon (who start off as a bad ass.)Now it just the same old thing over and over and over and over......... you get the point. And why is it that any high school-er can sit and drink hard liquor all day long, even at the bar in a small town?

I loved The Vampire Diaries books! When I read them back in high school I thought they should make a movie out of them. Then it became the show and I finally read twilight and that got to be the movie.

It was all very sad.

I heard about the claims of the girl that wrote books that the Vampire Diaries are based on before I ever watched the show. I heard that she claimed Meyers had gotten a hold of her idea and she stole it. My little sister watches the show and I, personally, can completely believe the claims of the girl. If you watch the show you get the feeling that Meyers got part of this girl's idea without getting the rest of it. Or she got the whole thing and butchered what she didn't like. I absolutely believe the girl. I think Meyers stole her idea. But I haven't heard anything else about the lawsuit. Even though I am not fond of the show and I have no interest in the books, if I had to recommend a teenage vampire story to someone, I would go with The Vampire Diaries over Twilight any day. There are vampires that don't kill but at least there are those that are vicious, the vegan ones have vicious back stories, and the over all theme makes sense.

I hear ya, Kiera. I used to watch the vampire diaries but now I think it's just lame. Still better then Twilight, but lame. I don't really understand the similarity though, but then again I haven't read the books. Supposedley the books are godawful...The vampire diaries books I mean. Someone in another group sent me the books for free because she said that they were that bad....that she didn't want to see me pay for them I mean.

lol Yeah, I never had the desire to read the books. I didn't really have a desire to watch the show either but I am not really big on television so my sister controls the remote while I read or write beside of her and that show was one of many she made me watch. lmao Still, even with the show, I could see the similarities. Maybe I just subconsciously wanted to see Meyers sued so badly that I sought out similarities...hahaha

Someone girl did try to sue Meyer already over Breaking Dawn, but I guess she lost.

ahh not to into vdp but whatever i'll take your guyz word on it being better than twilight even though I would have to say twilight has a more appealing name than "the vampire diaries"
