Camilla (cyqua) Hi everybody! Happy to be on team Two! :)

In case you didn't already know, I'm Camilla, I'm 31, I'm from Denmark, but live in Barcelona, Spain :) So, I'm, GMT+1 for time zone :)

I've never played this game before, so I'm hoping some of you might have experience from the Dance Party :)

I know most of the shows except a few that never made it to Europe (like "As the World Turns" and "Gunsmoke") - so I'll likely need some help with those ;)

Look forward to playing with you!

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) Hi everyone! I'm Susan. I live in Alabama in the US. I'm a wife, mom and teacher. I've played the Dance Party game both times we had (I'm a mod there). I'm looking forward to the twist to it :)

PS -JenniferJ - HEY! Isn't it funny that we were together on both rounds of the Dance Party and we're here together :)

message 6: by Kattibrie (new)

Kattibrie | 0 comments Hi, team, nice to meet you all! :) I'm Ekaterina from Bulgaria and I'm 24. So, that GMT +2 for me. I haven't played the dance party challenges, but I hope to catch up quickly on the rules.

PS Do we have to come up with a team name and a captain?

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) Not sure if we need a name, but we definitely need a captain.

It's nice to meet you, Ekaterina :)

message 8: by Kattibrie (new)

Kattibrie | 0 comments Thank, nice to meet you too, Susan. (and the whole team too!) :) You You could just use my nickname... ;)

As for the captain - I definitely won't volunteer, I'm still a bit confused. But maybe some of you who has played in the Dance party challenges...

message 9: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) Hi all! It's very nice to "meet" you all ;)

message 10: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ | 0 comments Howdy ladies! (Waves to Susan ")) I am excited we made it on the same team hon!

Kattibrie and Camilla I have seen you ladies around the groups and enjoy doing challenges with you and am happy to get to play a group challenge with you all!

I'm Jennifer and I'm from a small town in South Carolina. That puts me at (GMT -5) I think. I work from home as a customer service representative what time I am not on the road with my hubby helping him with his part-time used tire business. So I have alot of reading time "usually". We are the parents of 2 spoiled bratty chihuahua's and one bossy cat!

message 11: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) Hi Jennifer! Yeah, by now I think most of us "know" each other in one way or another since we all seem to be challenge-holics ;)

I really look forward to getting started as well! Glad to see that some of you have played before, so me and Kattibrie can get some help ;)

message 12: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) Jennifer PM'd me and said I should be team captain since I've done it before with the Dance Party. So, unless Camilla or Kattibrie want to be captain, I'll volunteer :) Just an FYI though, my Hubs might unexpectedly be coming home for the next 2 or so weeks so my computer time will be limited while he's here. *whispers* He's a smidge jealous of my computer time. I'll let you know if he does come home.

I have to say, I'm so jealous that all of you know what GMT +or- you are :) I think I'm GMT -6, and I only think that cause Jennifer is is in South Carolina and I'm in Alabama and there's an hour difference between us ROFLOL

message 13: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ | 0 comments Yes, unless you ladies want to be captain Susan did a very good job for us on the Dance Party as Captain. I only like to do it as a last resort LOL

Susan you is indeed GMT -6 lol I hope your hubby does slip in and visit you! Ya'll need some time together! :)

message 14: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) I'm very happy for Susan to be captain :-)
And I only know about the time zones because I work with people from all over the world every day, so we always have to coordinate what time it is where for meetings and stuff :-)

message 15: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) I'm so glad I got it right! I don't even discuss time zones with my students. When I taught preschool, we were just learning numbers and in 1st grade, we're just learning to tell time LOL

Hubs was home this weekend, Jennifer. We had a pleasant weekend with a lovely meal out, just the two of us. We ordered pizza for the girls while went eat steak LOL It could be nice for him to be home for an extended stay. But it could end very badly ;)

message 16: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ | 0 comments aww that is nice ya'll did get to go out to eat together. :)

Ya know now that ya mention it I don't even know how I picked up on the GMT stuff! I certainly didn't learn it in school! Who has time to learn stuff in school? Too busy doing more practical stuff like flirting and well.... FLIRTING. (insert giggle)

But back to business..we got a captain now we need a name! I peeked and others is choosing one. Any ideas?

message 17: by Kattibrie (new)

Kattibrie | 0 comments Well, I second Susan as captain too! :)

And I only know the GMT because I live in Europe - all the American time zones are sooo confusing...

message 18: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) do y'all have any suggestions for a team name?

message 19: by Kattibrie (new)

Kattibrie | 0 comments Hm... how about "Two for the Dough" (like the book) or "Two heads are better than one"?

message 20: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) I like Two for the Dough

message 21: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) I like "Two for the Dough" as well :)

message 27: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ | 0 comments I found one for setting and cover (8 points) but still looking. ")

message 28: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) Hi guys,

Great to get started! I'm looking for a suitable book and will let you know as soon as I have anything :)

message 29: by Kattibrie (last edited Mar 08, 2013 09:36AM) (new)

Kattibrie | 0 comments The best I could find so far is for 12 points (cover, title and setting). Possibly I could find something in the plot but I highly doubt it. I might go with this book because I'm already tired of searching, LOL

message 30: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) Thanks for posting that, Kattibrie. I checked this morning before I left for work and I'm just now getting a chance to get on the computer. You can tell its Friday, in the spring, in 5th grade. I had to send someone to the office. No matter how many times I have to do it, I end up upset and with my hands shaking. And then I have paperwork to fill out cause of it :(

I'll look for a book for this when I get home in a bit.

message 31: by Kattibrie (new)

Kattibrie | 0 comments No problem, Susan. I just thought that if I posted it it would speed things up. I'm really glad you don't mind! :)

message 32: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ | 0 comments aww sorry your having a rough day Susan! I am about to go out with hubby and it'll be late when we get back so I will look more when I get back.

message 33: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) OK, I found a book that will work for setting and name, which is 11 points - Kattibrie (or anyone else), if you've found something with more points, would you PM me the title? I'd be willing to read more or less anything :)

message 34: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) Thanks Jennifer. Days like today only reinforce why I want to teach lower grades LOL

message 35: by Susan (susayq ~) (last edited Mar 14, 2013 04:49AM) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) As the World Turns 1956

Camilla • Wildfire at Midnight • cover + name + setting = 13 points • review here

JenniferJ • How to Date an Alien • cover + setting + plot = 11 points • review here

Kattibrie • The World Jones Made • cover + title + setting = 12 points • Review Here

Susan • Storm's Heart • cover + setting + plot = 11 points • review here

Storm's Heart (Elder Races #2) by Thea Harrison How to Date an Alien (My Alien Romance, #1) by Magan Vernon The World Jones Made by Philip K. Dick Wildfire at Midnight by Mary Stewart

TOTAL TEAM POINTS = 47

message 36: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) I'm leaning towards Storm's Heart (Elder Races, #2) by Thea Harrison especially if the alternate cover will get me cover points as well.

message 37: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ | 0 comments Susan I am going to go with How to Date an Alien (My Alien Romance, #1) by Magan Vernon (Possible 11 pointer at the very least 8)

Setting - Illinois
Cover - Stars, Planets, Moon
Plot - I feel like it does but I wont know for sure until I read it

I think the above cover would work as cover but if not the alternate totally will LOL For some reason I can't get the alternate to post but it is shown on goodreads at this link.

Alternate Cover

message 38: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Either cover would work.

message 39: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Thanks Dawn!

message 40: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) Great, Jennifer! I'll adjust your points in the weekly post if you find it has more :)

message 41: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) OK, I'm going to read Wildfire at Midnight by Mary Stewart by Mary Stewart :)

It has location (published in 1956) and name: Stewart - and then I need you guys to help me decide whether that's the moon in the background? I know it's orange, but it's called "at Midnight" so it might be a moon?

Not sure about family drama yet (something to do with a husband and wife), but it the one I could find with the most points that I'd also like to read :)

message 42: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Camilla, I'd say it was a moon.

message 43: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H I agree it's definitely more moon than sun :)

message 44: by Camilla (new)

Camilla (cyqua) Brilliant! :-) Thanks guys

message 45: by Kattibrie (new)

Kattibrie | 0 comments Well, the sun would also work since it's a star. ;) But That looks more like a moon to me. :)

message 46: by Kattibrie (new)

Kattibrie | 0 comments Week 1
As the World Turns

Book:
The World Jones Made by Philip K. Dick
Date finished: 11.03
Rating: 3.5/5

I liked this book, especially after the very disappointing A Scanner Darkly (the last Dick book I read before this). It's basically the story of a man who could see one year into the future and his coming to power. But there were also many different subplots. If anything I'd have to give it some credit. I mean - a government-funded genetic engineering in order to create people fit to live on Venus? In a 1956 book? Wow!

Points:

Cover -
- there's a planet on this edition's cover: The World Jones Made - 2
Title: - "World" - 4
Setting: - Published in 1956 - 6

Total points: 12

Kattibrie | 0 comments I finished my book and my review is up. I was done with it like 7 hours ago, but GR was down for some reason...

I hate when GR goes down! It's like I've lost my best friend or something. LOL I know that sounds so sad doesn't it?

message 49: by Kattibrie (new)

Kattibrie | 0 comments Yeah, I feel the same way too - suddenly I had nothing to do on the Internet, but I was too distracted (with checking if GR is up again) that I couldn't concentrate reading...

message 50: by Susan (susayq ~) (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) I started my book for this last night. Hopefully I'll have it finished by tomorrow :)
