I am an MD/author committed to increasing awareness about the disease of addiction and trying to change hearts and minds. In order to reach a wider audience I wrote "Addiction on Trial: Tragedy in Downeast Maine," as a fiction based upon my years of experiences practicing medicine. All info is on my website if you are interested.

Addictarium is the hauntingly candid fictional memoir based on author Nicole D'Settemi's real-life experiences in a 2 year intensive rehabilitation program. The book goes to new depths by tackling underlying psychological issues within the addictive personality, an examination on human relationships and addiction.

My book, "Heart Medicine: A True Love Story," details a quest for healing after my husband's heroin relapse. We navigated the treacherous labyrinth of his addiction and ultimately pursued treatment with an an obscure indigenous African sacred plant medicine, iboga, used since ancient times for shamanic initiation and spiritual healing, and proven to have powerful addiction breaking effects in recent times. It is raw and honest with some intimate surprises.
I wrote the book because so few people have ever heard of this powerful treatment option, and I was moved to share what I know through our vulnerable story. I hope you enjoy it, from my heart to yours.

My name is Amit Siovitz, and I actually quite recently published a novel on the topic of addiction. While I admit it isn't as powerful as William Burroughs, who inspired me to write it, I am very pleased with the result :)
It's called "Where Have You Been?" You can check it out here"

The Dark Night of Recovery: Conversations from the Bottom of the Bottle - Edward Bear

So, you've been around the block more times than a pizza delivery guy trying to kick your habit, only to wind up back in that same dark alley. Sworn off the booze? Flushed the pills? Ditched the needle? Tried to give up stuffing your face, chasing tail, blowing your paycheck at the casino, or whatever flavor of self-destruction you’re hooked on? Yeah, right. If this sounds familiar—and if this is hitting a little too close to home—consider this book your last hope before you start eyeing a convent. Written by someone who’s been sober longer than some of you have been alive—38 years, to be exact—this isn’t your typical Kumbaya recovery guide. Nope, this is the brutally honest, sarcastic, roadmap to finally making those 12 steps work for you.
No sugarcoating, no hand-holding, and definitely no pretty bows—just the raw, unfiltered truth. If you’re looking for someone to stroke your ego and tell you it’ll be okay, go cry to your grandma. But if you’re tired of the same old BS and ready for some real talk, this book will give you the no-nonsense advice and hard-earned wisdom you need to get sober, stay sober, and fight like hell to do it in a world that seems hell-bent on dragging you back down. Whether your demons are in a bottle, a bed, a bag of chips, or the casino floor, this guide covers it all—relapses, self-harm, and every other twisted form of self-destruction you've tried and failed to quit.
With clear explanations, practical advice, and a few choice words for the roadblocks you'll face, you’ll find out exactly what it takes to navigate the 12 steps and come out on top. It’s not gonna be easy, and it’s definitely not gonna be pretty, but if you’re ready to stop screwing around and start actually living, then this book is your new best friend.
“If your life’s a dumpster fire and you’re tired of getting burned, this book tears apart the 12 steps and puts them back together in a way that even a chronic screw-up can understand—straight from someone who’s been there, done that, and lived to tell the tale nearly four decades later.” Michael G.
