Hey all! So I'm sure you know we'll be reading Storm Glass in May, but of course we'll be done with that lickety-split (and then re-read it like, 4 times before the month is out) so I'm opening up nominations for an alternate May book group title.

Anything previously suggested, and not yet drawn, is still in the hat and may be chosen.

But if you have anything to add, post it here, and I'll add it to the hat.

Drawing the title in Mid-April (you might have to nag me, Kristen ^_^)

Samantha Don't know if it's already been suggested or not, but Magic Lost, Trouble Found by Lisa Shearin should be added to the hat. My apologies ahead if it already has. :D

Nope, I don't think that's in there yet! Added.

Jen | 38 comments Forgive me - I know I should know this - is Stormglass coming out in May this year?

And I am loving the Black Wizard trilogy - I'm half way through #1 and I can hardly put it down. What is going on with the head wizard drinking blood???

Couldn't get into Grave something - with the character Nobody - nor the book everyone read - the Masterpiece with the beetle and the boy? I guess I'm too into the whole fantasy witches and wizards and Fae and such. ;)

Looking forward to hearing what's next. I'm always willing to try it - if I don't like it - I just take it to the school library so that they can get some use out of it.

Jen

Jen,

Yes, Storm Glass will be out in May. Well actually the end of April I think so that's why it's our May book, not April.

If you love the first book, you're bound to love the second and third more. Especially the third (that was my favorite). Also, you will love
The Magician's Apprentice. It's her prequel to the Black Magician Trilogy. I thought it was fantastic. She has another trilogy out there, but I haven't read that one yet.

Min (minbuchanan) Also, thanks to Alethea posting this as a "to-read" book on her shelf, I want to suggest Garth Nix's Sabriel. I think everyone would really love his strong female lead, and amazing world building.

Kristen Harvey | 511 comments Hmmmm... I can't remember what I've suggested in the past. I'm gonna suggest the following (hopefully none are repeats):

Need by Carrie Jones

Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George

Raven by Allison van Diepen

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

Stephanie (stephaniepellegrin) | 1 comments I second Forest of Hands and Teeth. It's wonderfully good!

I'll recommend Graceling by Kristen Cashore and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Hopefully they aren't repeats either.

missART | 71 comments Forest of Hands & Teeth is on my to-read pile! I heard good things about it from my coworkers.

I'll throw "Curse Dark as Gold" into the pot again. :)

Kristen Harvey | 511 comments It's almost May, so when are we finding out the alt. title Alethea? I'm anxious! I'm still hoping to cram in The Naming... we'll see.

message 11: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Lavering (ashleylavering) I too don't know what has been added to the pot already so here is my list of favorites:

Wildwood Dancing by juliet Marillier
Dragon Slipper by Jessica Day George
The Tree Shepherd's Daughter by Gillian Summers
The Frog Princess by E.D. Baker
Wings by E.D. Baker

I could go on but wont:-) I have also loved the Naming that you have just read! Went through all four very quickly! Love them.

Gisela (chicadorlando) | 180 comments Alethea, when will we know what the alternate book is?
Just a little nagging... ;)

All righty, I'll make this one a poll for those of you who are poll-type people, and then next month we'll switch back to luck of the draw.

I'm going to add Bloody Jack to the hat...

And thank you for nagging!

Mir Almost everything mentioned recently is on my to-read list, except I already tried (and didn't enjoy) Curse as Dark as Gold.

Alo, although I don't if it would be a good group read since it is "urban", I think a lot of you might like C.E. Murphy's "Heart of Stone."

Kristen Harvey | 511 comments What didn't you like about Curse as Dark as Gold Miriam?

message 16: by Mir (new)

Mir I'm not sure... maybe too much detail about running a mill? I kept skipping ahead trying to find more exciting parts.
