One of our buddy reads this month, The Secret Scripture by[ author:Sebastian Barry|79510]. This thread is for discussing The Secret Scripture. P,ease mark your spoilers.

Hi! This book seems very nicely written, I have just started reading it and set it aside because I don't want to rush through it. I am currently in the middle of "Game of Thrones" and want to finsh that book before I continue.
Just wanted to let you know "The Secret Scripture" seems like a worthwhile book.

I am 3/4 through the book and don't feel that I know either protagonist very well. In fact, I don't think they even know themselves.
The chapters are written alternating between Roseann McNulty and Dr. Grene's stories, but I am finding it hard to differentiate between them. Both narrative's have a blurry, dream-like quality. I thought Dr. Grene's chapters would be written more clinically and factual and I thought Roseann's chapters would be more emotional and compelling. I still don't know the reason she was committed to this institution so many years ago. So, I am continuing to read, maybe it will be evident by the ending.

Wow, I won't give it away, but this book had a surprising twist at the end, which I commented on the previous post without even knowing! A sad, but beautifully written book.
