What books do you think are the best in exploring the issues of racism and prejudice? For me, the best books I think that explore racism and prejudice are:

1. The Butter Battle Book - This really explored the issue about how ridiculous wars can get and I think this book really sent that message through very well.

2. Any books written by Patricia Polacco: Patricia Polacco is well known for writing children's books that explores the issues that characters who are of different race or have disabilities face in front of their peers. Probably the best books that explores both racism and prejudice were Thank You, Mr. Falker, Pink and Say, Chicken Sunday, The Junkyard Wonders, and Mr. Lincoln's Way.

3. To Kill a Mockingbird

Brian Baskins (themessengerofglobalunity) 4. Bloodlines: Race, Cross, and the Christian
John Piper (Author), gets great reviews and is from a Christocentric view.

Debby Irving | 3 comments First of all, I'm so glad this group exists! Thank you all.

A Different Mirror by Ronald Takaki is an AMAZING way to get a once-and-for-all American history paradigm shift. It reveals how American policy impacted everyone other than white, northern European people.

Interesting perspective from Africa -
highly recommended for reading and discussion

Um, there's also this book but it would need to be ordered. It's about being aboriginal in Winnipeg (That's in Canada~ XD). <-- Very Potter Musical quote.

Debby Irving | 3 comments Hey all - I've written a book that explores my experience of racism. As an upper-middle class white woman, it was shockingly invisible to me until... Waking Up White is the name of the book and if we choose to read it I'd be happy to send free copies to those who choose to read! Couldn't send to all 167 but the first twenty to let me know? Anyway, here it is if you want to check it out. Waking Up White: And Finding Myself in the Story of Race. So happy this group exists! Debby
