johanna (jo) (johannad_m) | 7675 comments The armies of the Dark Lord are massing as his evil shadow spreads ever wider. Men, Dwarves, Elves and Ents unite forces to do battle agains the Dark. Meanwhile, Frodo and Sam struggle further into Mordor in their heroic quest to destroy the One Ring.

Impossible to describe in a few words, JRR Tolkien's great work of imaginative fiction has been labelled both a heroic romance and a classic fantasy fiction. By turns comic and homely, epic and diabolic, the narrative moves through countless changes of scene and character in an imaginary world which is totally convincing in its detail. Tolkien created a vast new mythology in an invented world which has proved timeless in its appeal.

And ... the last one ;_;. Your thoughts? Favourite characters, moments, quotes? Your most hated moments? D: (How about "Well, I'm back" ;____;)

And the main question: WHY DID IT HAVE TO END?!!!??? D:

Hafhaf | 5 comments Has anyone got any idea if when I buy the complete LoTR trilogy in one book, will it have the appendices inside? I'm not sure if every edition has them or not.. Thanks :-)

Anyway, I've already read the book (borrowed it from the library) and I absolutely loved it!

Hmm, most copies will include the Appendices, I believe, but you might want to check. If you're buying it from a shop, you might want to ask at the desk, or flip through to the back and see. If you're buying it online, you can ask the seller, or read through the sale description . . . Searching up the ISBN of the book might come up with something.

Generally, I'd say most of them include the Appendices, (both my family's copies do) but I'm not sure about that.

Kimberly Rahi (kimmierahi) I read an article in Huffington Post today comparing Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. I blogged about it and then set up a poll for people to weigh in. Please take the time to read the short blog post and weigh in on the poll. Comments ALWAYS welcome on my blog.

L.Y. Levand (lylevand) | 1907 comments In French? Now there's a story I'd like to hear. As sad as it sounds, I know people that won't read them in English!

mels (padmeskywalkers) | 12768 comments I haven't read them in English :) just French XD I was desperate.
Okay, so here's the story: in French class, we had to do 10 minutes of silent reading in class every day. But the library had a horrible selection of French books. One day, in a rare find, I found Return of the King. And I knew there weren't any other good books in the library, so I reread it twice, until I got pretty bored with it. So I read the Appendices. They were boring, but it was definitely worth it. Because when I finally had to return to the library, I got Phantom of the Opera, and it was he most confusing and boring thing ever. So that's my story :)

That sounds amazing. If I got to read Return of the King for school, I would have been thrilled. xD
