Cat | 2 comments I know that most people are probably still reading or have yet to get this book, but for those few book addicts who stayed up most of the night reading, what do you think about the end of the book? The end of the series? I feel that Grant ended it very well, each character played his/her role to the end. However, I feel like there are still some unanswered questions. What happened to Toto? Or Bug? I also feel that Brittney did not get a close for her story. What did the new media hear about Drake? And what about little Sinder? I'm not sure about other fans, but I sort of want to hear a little bit about them. My other lingering question was that the FAYZ kids were in the FAYZ for over a year, yet nobody else had 15th birthdays later on in the story? Otherwise, although I am quite sad to know that it's time to leave the FAYZ, I feel that it was a wonderful story with a justified end.

Cat | 2 comments I feel your pain! That was one of the worst parts! I knew when I started the book that someone(or multiple someones) of importance was going to die, but Brianna definitely had to be one of the worst deaths. I was also really sad when Jack and Orc died, they were both characters who grew a lot throughout the series. :(

Kelli (kellireadsstuff) | 3 comments I've been looking foward to a Caine/Connie confrontation since the first book. Since that didn't happen... I don't know, along with the lack of closure on Toto, Bug, Sinder, John Terrafino, Brittany, Dahra's mom, Connie Temple, etc, I don't really feel like the series ended. I loved it and I think he wrote the ending well, but it was sort of rushed. I would have been happy to read another 100 pages if it would have meant each character getting their share of chapters and closure. I thought a lot more would go down after the FAYZ ended. I really wish it had been more in-depth. I wanted there to be some government drama! I wanted to know families' reactions! Drake's grandfather, Dahra's mom, Lana's parents (since in the first book she'd been so angry at them)... and so many other things. I wanted more Drake action, for Brittany to realize the gaiaphage wasn't a god, and I was really hoping Gaia would go back to being Caine and Diana's daughter at some point. AND THE DEATHS. OH MY GOSH. I cried at Caine's death; he was one of my favorites. And Brianna. I would have cried more at Jack's if he had had more chapters in this book. And Justin!!! No one even cares about Justin's death, but that was one of the worst for me. I loved that little five year old and it was over for him so fast...

Cainagaia | 3 comments I just can't get over Briannas death,
At the end i was just like she would've loved the attention
and when dekkas parents gave her a picture of brianna, so emotional
Caine was just wow in this book, i loved him the whole way through and i cant even. Caine
JUST CAN'T BELIEVE ITS ENDED. GONE. :'(
what to do with life now?

Cameron (ckd18) BEST ENDING TO ANY SERIES I HAVE EVER READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sophie | 5 comments OMG Brianna died. The reason that some of the Aftermaths were left hanging was for fan-fic. That's what I'm doing! :'( Come back, characters!

Depressed since the end. It was only 2 days ago I finished it.

Livy Still not ready to say goodbye to the characters, but I probably never will be. Overall, I think it was a fitting ending. Though I was sad about Brianna, Caine's death, to me, was the worst. After all they've been through, I really wanted Diana and him to make it out together. Now I'm just stuck in a kind of shocked state, like I can't believe it's over. Thank you Michael Grant, for an amazing series.

Alivia (icyy510) | 36 comments When I finished Light I was like I HATE YOU MICHAEL GRANT!!! But now that I've had a couple of days to think all of the things that happened over I now LOVE MICHAEL GRANT. This is the best ending to a series ever. I just wish he would have told us a little more. What happened to Bug, John, Toto, Sinder? All of the deaths killed me in a different way, especially Caine, Orc, Brianna, Jack, and Justin. They were all my all time favorite characters of all time. Although, I kind of expected them to die. They all had their own reasons for their sacrifices. Orc and Brianna were the saddest to me. Orc had grown so much in his faith and had finally found a reason to be alive and help people. Brianna did not deserve to die, I was like, She just gonna get up walk it off. Make a joke, right? RIGHT? But no, she died. Lana didn't even have a chance to save her. I really liked the Aftermath chapters. I was crying all the way through all of them. Especially when Edillio found out that Roger was alive. And the ending was amazing!
Sam reached for the switch and turned out the light. T.T

I loved the ending!! I loved the books!! ;) I really wish if michale grant makes a spin-off from Taylor's POV ... And include new characters in there !!! What do u guys think??!!! ;DD

Agusia | 3 comments The ending was kind of too normal for me... Like, all the good guys walk out and suddenly life is perfect! I expected the ending to be much darker, especially after the sad feel of Fear and Light. Suddenly no one in the military cared about kids with super powers, no one wanted to run any tests or whatever, no one was scared of letting them back in society? I think it should have also been stated what has been found under the nuclear plant or in the mines or something, it's just like suddenly everyone forgot about what actually caused the laws of physics to change. Did Sam or someone told FBI Drake was dead? I'd be all about finding that psycho after all the relations of the kids from the inside.

But honestly, I didn't expect the barrier to fall down... I guess that's the direction everything's been going in since book 5, but I thought it would prove to be something crucial to history, like the beginning of an apocalypse, something to alter the galaxy forever... But well.

It was sad that Jack and Orc were ar risk of dying like once and did, but Sam the main character that has to have a happy ending miraculously lived through multiple encounters with Gaia and suicidal thoughts and fight with Drake and all. I expected him to die, I hoped for him to die, he was a likeable character but it was just too much for me to watch him walk out and live happily ever after, too unrealistic.

Jenny | 3 comments I think... I don't know really... Don't get me wrong I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE GONE SERIES!!! It's just that I don't think the ending was very creative or original... The barrier came down and everything went back to normal.. Or as close to normal as it could get. I cried so much when The Breeze died!!! She was... She was... She was my best friend!!!

Marjolijn Van opstal | 1 comments I absolutely loved every single word of the entire gone series! Thank you Michael Grant! I ended Light about a week or so ago, and my gone-coma is kinda over now, I loved the last words of Grant btw; "You are now free to leav the FAYZ." Because I knew it would take me at least 5 days to get over the shock of knowing that the series have ended. About the ending, I think Michael Grant did an awesome job! I cried so much when Justin and dahra (and I thought roger), Brianna, orc, jack, Caine and little Pete died! I thought it was unfair for Dahra, since she's gone through so much and only at the expanse of herself, the same by jack. While I read the death of Brianna it was cruel in my eyes, but now I've thought about it, and I think this was also very well done by Grant. What I'm saying is that Brianna died as The Breeze, she died while she was fighting, and she never (since the FAYZ) did not have her speed. In my eyes, Brianna wás The Breeze in the end, and I couldn't picture her without her speed, so I think that was one of the main reasons for Michael Grant in letting her die. When Caine died, I actually couldn't read further because of my tears, which is, come to think about it, actually pretty weird, since he was 'the real bad guy'. But through the books I just wanted him and Diana to be happy. But, I think that his death was the one and only death he should have, giving his body to little Pete to defeat the gaiaphage and right before he died seeing Diana. I also loved the quote later on, that he never knew love, not until the end.

I was so happy when Lana made it together with Patrick! Since the beginning of the 'story' from Lana's point of view she was my favorite character ;)

I agree with most of you that I'd like to have more explanation about what happened to other characters, like sinder, John, bug and especially Taylor. That last rumour about a brief sight of a golden girl is not satisfying for me, I mean, she doesn't have her bouncing abilities, does she?

About a potential movie of the series, it would be absolutely amazing, but also really gros at some times, I mean, how are they going to show some of the things in a proper way? (The bugs, the cough, drake sliced up by Brianna, gaia killing of all those children, etc.)

Michael grant; thanks to you again, you are a heroI loved Gone and I think I'll start again tonight c:

Spencer Smith | 5 comments Light was AMAZING! I was sad to see my favorite series end but I loved reading it at the same time. I enjoyed how all of the characters played out in the last one. And really loved Cain during this one; he was so brave! I didn't expect him to be the one to sacrifice himself but really it couldn't have been anyone else. The entire series blew me away and I'll miss all the characters!

Julia (jewel44) | 12 comments So sad I miss Caine!! His letter were awesome but soo sad! :'(

~♡annie♡~ I actually liked how MG finished it all off. I was smiling and satisfied at the end. What an awesome series it was. Of course I'm terribly sad that Caine and Bri died too, but, well... it just made me realize how much I actually love the series when I felt that sad about them dying!

Lauren I'm sad that Caine and Bri died, but someone had to die. My favorite part at the end was when Sam threw Drake's head in the fire.

Gabe | 2 comments i did not like the ending at all!!! I thought something would happen and everyone who died came back when the FAYZ ended or something like that

Danielle | 8 comments I liked the ending it was different than most. R.I.P Brianna The Breeze will live forever in our hearts.

Maria (marmalade4evs) | 5 comments My heart holds a special place for each of the person dead:
-Brianna
-Caine
-Howard
-Orc
-Duck
-Little Pete
-Mother Mary
-and many more that I can't remember at the moment because the book is not in front of me.

I agree with Gabe who said "i did not like the ending at all!!!... I thought that.. everyone who died [would] came back when the FAYZ ended." I totally agree with that!

Dramapuppy But if everyone came back, the whole series would be a moot point. It's almost as bad as the "it was all a dream thing." You can't just say "Nevermind! Those deaths never happened!"

But yeah. I was actually crying in Light. And I don't cry at books. Sad, but once it's done, it's done.

No! She won't get the full impact if you tell her! I agree that the ending was devastating though. Those were two good characters.

Persephone So I'm bored and this is late but yet not all that late but imma say sum anyway....

I hated how it ended by he just had to put the little you are now free from the fayz and I'm just like...did I say I wanted to leave but anyway I loved everything hated every death and the guy they called duck was such a beautiful character I just wished he loved outside of one book after meeting him and I think it would be cool if Albert got powers

Haha, yeah I almost cried when I read the part about being free to leave. I loved this series.

Persephone Lol yeah it was the first YA series I've ever been emotionally connected On a deep level with so it really means a lot to me

Dominic White | 2 comments I loved the end. I hated how Pete used Caine to destroy Gaia. I mean it makes sense kinda but yeah. Also I really don't like how it kinda ended in a cliffhanger. They should have like a book that's "After the FAYZ" to show how their lives were afterward. It did kinda but didn't go into much depth.

Dramapuppy I like that there wasn't much detail. That would be a different story. We were reading about the FAYZ and that was over so the story ended.

JoshuaLx | 1 comments The ending was terrific! Emotional and Breeze...WHY. The death of Computer Jack was very quick but sad too. I found the battle between Pete (in Caine's body) and Gaia way too fast. If only, it could come in detail. But I'll miss the FAYZ! I felt so alive being in there! Free from adults! BAHHHH!!!!

Dominic White | 2 comments It was amazing although I cried when Caine's letter was read out loud.

Allie Light was amazing, then the Breeze died, my hands down most favorite character, I was so sad. The final battle with Pete and Gaia was way to quick, but still great. I was quite sad for my favorite series to end but thrilled to have made it through. Even though Caine was a jerk it was sad when he died. I loved the whole climax with the mutated insects, kept me up late, very original. Michael Grant is hands-down my favorite author, once I finished Gone (series) i read Messenger of Fear, and very new Front Lines, very exciting author, your amazing Michael Grant.

Allie Cav wrote: "I did like how Sam lived until the very end, otherwise-- evil would run ramped in the streets and it would just be chaos!! Evil was kinda running ramped already..... Due to Sam's occasional mental ..."
Yah Astrids ending was pretty bad, she was very uplifting toward Sam and other characters (and me) but then she went kind of down hill near the end, it made me quite sad.

message 36: by Allie (last edited Mar 02, 2016 07:54PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Allie It made my really sad for the ending for Mother Mary, she kind of went insane trying to kill those kids, so (she thinks) will take them out of the FAYZ, but thankfully the Breeze saved them. What do you guys think about her ending?

Love2read | 15 comments There were actually quite a few unanswered questions at the end of Light. Did Sam and the others ever reveal that the government knew about the mutants and were testing on them? What happened to Toto? Which characters committed suicide? Do any of them ever return to Perdido Beach? What do the authorities do with the town? Do they ever find the body of the boy that Orc killed? How do Abana and E.Z's dad react to the deaths of their children?

Love2read | 15 comments That being said, unlike everyone else I was okay with Caine dying. It was, in a way, his redemption, and although I find his character interesting, funny and complex, I never liked him that much. However the worst deaths in Light for me had to be those of Brianna, Dahra, Orc, Justin and Jack.
And I was proud of other characters too, such as Little Pete, Diana, Edilio, Quinn, Sam and Dekka. They got Gaia good.

message 39: by Garrett (new)

Garrett | 1 comments So I read the ending years ago and recently thought back to it (like I do with books I loved) and I had some questions unanswered. Why did powers disappear after the event when they existed before the event? Taking them away wraps things up but open ended possibilities are more my thing. Also all the character relationships and confrontations that were left unresolved leave me wanting. This series would be a great Canada tea for a small series of short after stories. Loved your books Michael Grant!

Sasha Brown (sashaabrown) | 4 comments Garrett wrote: "So I read the ending years ago and recently thought back to it (like I do with books I loved) and I had some questions unanswered. Why did powers disappear after the event when they existed before ..."

Yeah all of the characters are so developed and individual, there could probably read spin-off books for any one of them. Michael Grant is so amazing at character writing.

Dylan Flanagan | 2 comments A really great ending, felt like the end of a personal journey due to how strong the characters were, Caine being my personal favourite and the deep themes, a lot more mature than I thought it was gonna be!
Oh, also, there are spin-off books (Monster, Villain and Hero).
