Magic Shifts (Kate Daniels, #8) by Ilona Andrews

message 7: by CassieCruel (new)

CassieCruel (faith_isola) Aww I didn't think it had yet been released *hangs head in shame*

message 8: by CassieCruel (new)

CassieCruel (faith_isola) Just figured it out, I ordered the previous two and Amazon UK was saying Magic Shift was a pre-order

But it is because it was released in hard back and mass market paperback isn't done yet

message 9: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 817 comments ahhhh, yeah, it came out here a few months ago - I think I listened ot the audiobook in October

message 10: by CassieCruel (new)

CassieCruel (faith_isola) PB is released here in Feb :(

message 11: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Magic Shifts was awesome.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 67 comments Cassie Cruel wrote: "PB is released here in Feb :("

Still lucky. PB release is a whole year away here.

I enjoyed it!

Did anyone else catch Magic Stars (Kate Daniels, #8.5, Grey Wolf, #1) by Ilona Andrews ?

I really loved being in Derek's head it and I am very excited to see more. There's just something super funny about everyone making fun of how dark and gloomy he is, when you're in his head.

Oo think I'll treat myself to it at end of month, if I remember

I didn't! but I want to read it pretty bad! It's Derek and Julie as the main characters, right?

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 67 comments Yes they are. But Derek is the one telling it.

I enjoy seeing how Julie is growing up.

message 17: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Is there a hint toward a romance? I always wondered about a romance for Derek.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 67 comments Some hints, and one big reveal at the end that may or may not support it.

Personally I really liked Julie with someone else from a short.

message 19: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Someone other than Derek?

I'm already almost finished, and there are definitely some hints going on. I like them.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 67 comments It was in short in Magic Breaks.

Yeah. I rather like Julie and Derek's sibling love more then romance.

But if anyone can sell me on them as a couple it's the Andrews team.

message 21: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments LOL, I liked the sibling possibility, until the last chapter. Then I was hooked.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 67 comments Yeah, I'm pretty sure I know where it's going.

message 23: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments When this topic was created, I had never even read the KD series. Now it's hard to imagine my life without it. I reread the series about once every other year. Has anyone read the Hidden Legacy series? I reread that every year. I like to kick every new year off with it so I know I'm starting the year off right. LOL

message 24: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Isn't it crazy that now KD is one of our favorites, of all time? All the discussions we've had, and none in here. This topic is staying.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 67 comments I never could have guessed it and the authors would become one of my favorites.

Have you read other series from them, Shera?

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 67 comments Yes. All of them!! Ha-ha-ha! The Innkeepers is hands down my favorite. Though I shouldn't pick favorites. They're all really good.

message 28: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I've only read the first Innkeeper book, but it's on our list to finish this year.

Kate and Curran are my favorites, but I did love Hidden Legacy too.

It was nice to get Ruby Fever! I was so entertained reading their blog and how much they were struggling and over writing it. >_<

message 30: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Whhaaaat! I didn't hear about that. They were over writing Hidden Legacy? I'm surprised.

I actually haven't read past Nevada and Mads. Is the lead change good?

Yeah!!! It was so funny the books were great quality, but they were done. The publisher took too long to release and had stipulations, and then they just had the hardest time writing each book. Ruby Fever was horrible for them!!! >_<

I enjoyed the change, and I honestly didn't think I would. Man, I need a re-read stat!!!

message 32: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Ha! I guess I'll need to just grab it. Funny they haven't tired of K&C.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 67 comments Wendy F wrote: "Ha! I guess I'll need to just grab it. Funny they haven't tired of K&C."

They way the talk about K&C I don't think they'll ever tire of it.

Though . . . they keep hinting that they have a new project that want to start up now that Hidden Legacy is over. I'm soooooooo excited!

message 34: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments That would be exciting, but honestly I'm dying for more Hugh story and more Julie story.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 67 comments Wendy F wrote: "That would be exciting, but honestly I'm dying for more Hugh story and more Julie story."

Who knows, that could be something they're working on too now that they are freed up. That would be awesome!

message 36: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Magic Tides is out today! Who's reading???????????????

Magic Tides (Kate Daniels Wilmington Years, #1; Kate Daniels, #10.5) by Ilona Andrews

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Wendy F wrote: "That would be exciting, but honestly I'm dying for more Hugh story and more Julie story."

I am dying for the next Julie book! Hugh...eh. LOL

message 38: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments I freaking loved Hugh's book. Even more than Julie's. Annnnnd, I'm excited to read it, but you know me. not quite yet!

message 39: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I’m on a no spend January, so no book for me yet!!!

message 40: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments lol!! You've got a couple weeks left.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 67 comments I told myself I'd buy just two books this month . . . yeah. Nope. I cracked. I really want a reread before I read Magic Tide's though.

message 42: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments I never really got into Ilona Andrews. I read a couple of Kate Daniels and a couple of Innkeeper .... I vaguely remember giving a less than flattering review to Innkeeper and copping a little flack for it. I can't even remember what I didn't like .... but it's usually a TSTL moment.

I might give them another shot....perhaps see if my tastes have come around to Kate Daniels.

HA! Love this. I guess my brain goes, "Aren't we all sometimes a little TSTL?" :D

message 44: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Ilona Andrews sent out an email either yesterday or today stating that Magic Tides and Magic Claims are going to be released in one audio to save readers some money. I can't wait for the narrator to be announced. I'm so excited to read these, but I love this series in audio, so whoever narrates is going to have Renee Raudman's big shoes to fill.
