I just returned from a 2.5 week trip in Vietnam to gather research for an upcoming travel memoir about Vietnam then and now. I visited more than a dozen sites that were once battle fields or military installations used during the Vietnam War. I hiked a lot more than expected to some abandoned bases. Although it wasn't easy in the hot sun, I enjoyed exploring rural Vietnam and searching for war remnants.
