Abigail (oftheheavens) | 166 comments Nope. People are actually living fine, most of the time. Say, if everybody got superpowers, the world would end in chaos sooner or later. Probably sooner.

It's horrible. And this is why peace is not achievable right now: people are too greedy, and will never bend or compromise. Sigh.

Abigail (oftheheavens) | 166 comments It's really sad though... I wish the human nature was not made like this. Is not what you have enough already? Must you really have EVERYTHING???

It's normal to want to go above and beyond. I love the idea of human augmentation and would jump at the chance to be augmented. Assuming the bugs are worked out, of course.

I know what you mean, but it's always irked me when people try to play God. Death is death, and life is life. It makes me uncomfortable to go beyond.

Evan (sampsom) | 578 comments I can see it being advantageous in helping people who are missing limbs. But for people who aren't in need of prosthetics I don't agree with it. If it ain't broke don't fix/enhance it.

I see. Makes sense that way.

Abigail (oftheheavens) | 166 comments Just... whenever I think of metal limbs.. I think of those movies with arms and legs screwed into people...

message 10: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (ace-geek) I wouldn't mind trading my very-much-working human limbs for robotic ones.

message 11: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (ace-geek) I'm a curious person and I might regret it, but given the chance I'd do it. If nothing else because I'm a tech geek and being part machine just sounds awesome.

Sometimes, things seem awesome... until you actually get it and malfunctions begin.

message 13: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (ace-geek) Yeah, there would be a lot of bugs to work out. I'd hate to have my mechanical legs fail halfway down a flight of stairs.

That would be very sad. And creepy.

Well it would be hilarious if it wasn't me.

message 16: by Som (new)

Som I don't. But I'd prefer a CryNet Nano-suit. (:

It's always like that haha.

That would be a cool idea. But... SCARY!!!

Isn't lasik surgery pretty much the same thing? I think if you get lasik you do one eye at a time to make sure you don't go completely blind too.

message 20: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (ace-geek) Well if I could augment my eyes I'd also go infrared vision, x-ray vision and heat vision.

Sounds cool, and I agree. The problem is, though, that if we had that kind of technology,..."

If they don't like augmented vision then they can simply not augment their vision. That's like saying because I don't like peaches no one should eat them. I'd be more worried about people with x-ray vision being a major privacy issue.

yup.

But I still feel uncomfortable having people 'play God'. I think we should just leave things as they are...

Then what about surgery, take legs for people who don't have them, ect? Is that "playing god" too?

I think we should strive for the very highest in the field of science and not have anything hold us back.

I agree. We've been "playing God" for awhile now....no reason to stop now.

message 25: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (ace-geek) While I respect Abigail's opinion, I agree with Billy. We should go full speed ahead in my mind and reach as far as we can. Even if we regret it later, because we don't know what we can do until we push ourselves.
