Have something bothering the crap out of you? Did you have a really rotten day? Are people really getting under your skin? Well, here's the place to moan and groan about it! And even have people commiserate with you!

Just try not to complain about other people in the group, m'kay? Drama really bugs the crap outta me. :P

My brothers leaving the toilet seat up and me falling in. 'Nuff said.

I hate sharing a bathroom with teenage boys. >.>

Simmaron (mybookedlife) | 459 comments Lol that was funny for me. Because I don't have any brother :D
Yeah so I was reading VA #5 and am really mad at Dimitri he's such an idiot !!
(there's nothing going on in my real life so shared about my fictional life ;P )

Having brothers is okay most of the time, I guess. No one steals my clothes and there isn't as much drama. But I swear, the bathroom would be uninhabitable if I wasn't there to clean it. Bleh. >.>

And yes, characters annoy me sometimes. I haven't read the VA series, but I can imagine how bad it can get, lol.

I'm reading the third book in the Mythos series and Gwen can get on my nerves. Each book has an element of mystery to it and Gwen is always the last to figure it out. Im like, "C'mon, Gwen. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out!" Lol.

Natalie (Never trust a duck) I have a mysterious bug bite on my shin and it is SOO BLOODY ITCHY! I don't even know when or where I got it. It's definitely not a mosquito bite, but other than that the case is cold. Sorry if that was nasty to you :P

Not really a rant but..
here I am reading The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen and listening to Maroon 5's She Will Be Loved. I'm waiting for when he won't belong to someone else and when he'll be like the guys in Desssen's stories. Where's the girls-guy manual when you need it?

Miriam (miriammathew) I finished reading Never Too Far by Abbi Glines and it was not what I expected. There was still the same insecurity issues and urgh, it just maddened me. I was hoping for an amazing sequel and I got it. But it seems to be only me who didn't like the book so I haven't got a fellow friend who didn't like the book to rant with.

I didn't like it either, but I still made the mistake of reading the last one, Forever Too Far... Boy, that book was awful

message 9: by Simmaron (new)

Simmaron (mybookedlife) | 459 comments There wasn't anything special in Forever too Far. It seemed like Abbi Glines was stretching the story.

Kristina Why are boys/men obsessed with video games?! Ugh

message 11: by Simmaron (new)

Simmaron (mybookedlife) | 459 comments Oh yeah even I wonder that. Can't they play real sports instead of motion gaming. And can they spend their whole day heck whole life playing vid games. One of my friend he's a big time vid games player was like astonished that I don't like to and neither do I have PS and I'm not even planning to buy it. Seriously it's a waste of time.

Yeah, I'm not a big gamer either. I play Pokemon (I've been a fan of it since I was ten and always will be <3) on my DS and I get new Pokemon games when they come out, but I don't obsess over them. :/ My youngest brother loves them, but I don't understand what he sees in them.

message 13: by Kristina (new)

Kristina My BF and youngest son can play for hours. I also think its a big waste of time, doing the same thing over and over. At least with a book, its a different story each time.

He just captioned his half naked picture with this quote, I quote "Beautiful face, Beautiful body, Horrible attitude. It was a holy trinity of hot boys". I was like dude you're so not Daemon Black!!!!! C'mon gimme a break he doesn't even have a bod, he's damn lanky. Why can't guys accept that they can't ever ever be like my DB. There can always be one DB. And that is OUR DAEMON BLACK no one else!!!!!! I'm still angry >:( I don't even like that guy and he stole the perfect quote that describes one perfect guy. :'(

message 16: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) Darn it. I just woke up. I got to sleep around three this morning. I meant to sleep in until, like at least ten thirty. I used to be able to sleep in for a long time.

I was a wake for a few minutes, debating on whether or not I would be able to go back to sleep. I decided no because I was already awake and it would be tough to get back to sleep when I could tell it was bright and sunny outside. And it's warm. Hot temperatures and daylight are horrible combinations for me, and I know from experience that those plus sleeping means I wake up really groggy. It's warm right now, but it's still a temperature where it often prevents me from sleeping even if I desperately want to.

When I looked at the clock, it was 8:51am. And this is happening over and over again where I try to sleep in--in feels like I'm sleeping in--but it's around nine o'clock.

That means early sleep for me tonight, which sucks because I like it when it's late because it's cooler temperatures. Plus, it's dark outside. I tend to really like reading in those conditions a lot more than in others for the summer.

Ugh! Allergies on my side of the world are absolutely horrible right now! I don't know if it's some sort of tree allergy or what. And the fact that I'm allergic to my cats but love them to death isn't helping.

Which is why I'm up at 4:30 in the morning with a stuffy nose and itchy eyes. Time to bulk up on the Benedryl. >.<

message 25: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) I recently woke up and decided, hey, how about I watch Oz the Great and Powerful on the tv when my mom isn't actually home to complain about the movie. Then I could do some much needed review typing and drafting for my blog at the same time! It sounded like an awesome idea because I wanted to multitask and I can hardly ever just sit and watch a movie, but then I had to switch the satellite tv to the mode to play the dvd . . .

and I must have spent thirty minutes trying to figure it all out. I have three remotes I have to use to get it to work, one of which (haha, it was the dvd player remote) I completely forgot about when I started setting it up. Then I discovered that I messed up the sound and made it all fuzzy. So basically, I had a huge fight with my tv, and I haven't even been up for an hour.

Unidragonfrag So... We're selling the house right... And I'm glad, the alternative is an ugly blemish on my parent's already crappy credit, but I'm getting real sick of having strangers parading in here. Never on time. And we have to keep the house clean for them and I don't want to cook if they're going to be parading through.. and as I mentioned I have no idea when they're supposed to be here (as the realtor gives us only an estimate time) so it's just... frustrating. Right now, there are supposed to be four more people coming anytime between now and seven. >.<

You're SO lucky. Don't ever move. I've moved like four times in the past five years (not counting the moving I'm doing soon) and it's just a pain. But you gotta do what you gotta do. :/

message 30: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaitlins16) Today is so not my day. First, I had my fight with the tv. Then I was creating a picture quote for Dare You To, but then I had to redo the entire thing because of one little letter that was supposed to be capitalized (I didn't even notice it until I saved it; the online editor I use can be very annoying at times). Then after my movie, I wanted to watch something else (the second disk of Sherlock), but I couldn't find the Netflix disk anywhere. I found it caught between my bed and the wall, but the disk fell out onto the floor in the most unreachable part under my bed, which hates to move.

Nordlys | 35 comments Simmaron wrote: "Oh yeah even I wonder that. Can't they play real sports instead of motion gaming. And can they spend their whole day heck whole life playing vid games. One of my friend he's a big time vid games pl..."

I agree with the real sports thing, why would you sit inside and play football on a screen when you can go outside and actually PLAY. But other than that I agree with your friend. I have never understood why so few girls who are avid readers dislike videogames. At least for me the reason I read books is because I love stories and storytelling, and I love imagining a whole world. With videogames you can get stories that are just as deep and good (hell, sometimes better than any book I've ever read) and on top of that you get to participate in the story a lot more, in some games shaping the outcome of the whole thing. And as opposed to books, you can choose to investigate further in games, getting even more out of the story than is part of the main story, and you can actually solve problems and riddles in the story, rather than just reading about a character who does it. And my gosh, I have yet to read a book that is as emotionally powerful as some games I have played, such as "Journey" that I played last week. (The exception being death and sorrow, that is easier to get in books).
And also, a book is the same if you read it one time or more. The words never change (although your perception of it can change of course). Games can be different from one time to the next (of course depending on the game), giving you a very different experience. I will again mention Journey, just because it is the latest I played, and extremely emotional and powerful. It is very short (just a couple of hours long), and I was crying and feeling exhilirated at the same time when I finished it because it was so overwhelming, so I started a new playthrough right away, and changed a few things which made the whole experience very very different, again very special, and very emotional.

Of course I am not saying that you HAVE to like videogames, we all have different opinions, but I feel that you are missing out if you think all games are like sports games or Sims or war games. I am wondering, how can you like storytelling in books so much, but not in another media such as this? I basically read books when I'm out and about or feeling lazy and just want to drift away in someone else's story, or just want to relax in quiet bliss, while when I want to be more alert, feel more, think more and explore more I go for games.

As with books, the quality of the experience of course depends on the game. I hated Twilight, and if I judged all other books based on that series I would never have read a book again. So if you think games suck because you've seen sports games or the sims or some other brainless game, I can understand your distrust. But as a lover of stories (I assume you are?) I would think all storytelling medias would be interesting...

And again, I am not saying you have to like it, I am just curious why not :)
How are games a waste of time and not books?

message 33: by Simmaron (new)

Simmaron (mybookedlife) | 459 comments Wow!! You have a different concept and reason about playing vid games. I mean till now everyone says that they play for passing time but you play it for a different reason. And you're right according to me all games are like Sims or war games (shooting) that's y I don't play.
And books motivate, encourage and gives you a different perspective about some things in life. That's y I don't think that books are waste of time.
P.S. I'll try playing some vid games maybe my views will change .

Hehe, good, I'm glad you'll try:) And I agree with the books, absolutely. I don't think books are a waste of time at all! I just happen to feel the same for games:)
Just make sure you pick a good game when you do try, don't go for Angry Birds or Sims or Call of Duty;) If your friends all play games just to pass the time, then don't try their games. I can suggest a few if you'd like to try some:)

I'm a girl who plays video games, and also reads. Now, I stopped playing video games and the games they do have for Mac, mostly, except for a Wii - because of university and time constraints. But I agree with Nordlys, that is why I played video games. I didn't play sports, but what they call "RPG's" because those have crazy, winding fantastical stories. Now, I stopped because, unlike most books, they can take up 60 to 80 hours of my time (one game - I could read a lot of books in that one time, or do a lot of other things) but they definitely can add to a story and it's different, playing as a character, because you're more emotionally involved --- in the sense that, like, as you play a game, your brain views every challenge as a "risk" with a reward, and so *you* are the one losing when you lose a video game -- which is why people get so angry. That can be a lot of fun, and it's a bit more of a direct emotional risk, in that sense, than in a book. I can be very emotionally affected by a book, but it's a little bit different, because I'm not the character (most of the time). I'm not trying to say books involve less emotion, I think they are two different mediums. But that's something I've noticed, too, about gaming.

I couldn't agree more:) Games are not better than books emotionally or otherwise, they just affect you in a different way. Books are better in some ways, games in others. But like you said, they are two excellent medias, and it is such a shame that many people have the impression that games are all about sports or shooting like crazy.

But as this is a rant thread: IT IS TOO HOT! I can't sleep at night, and am so tired during the days, and when it is hot and I am tired, I feel sick:( Thank god for the aircondition at work... *Sigh*...

Not really a rant... Quite the opposite, actually, but I felt like sharing the news and this was the best place!

Lauren (my fellow mod) and I found a little injured kitten the other day. No more than two months old. He had an injury to his neck and, after taking him to the vet and having it fixed up, he's recooperating at my house.

He's super sweet and playful... but I haven't been able to read all day. It's like watching a toddler! XD

Unidragonfrag Well, since we're having to move out, my hubby and I have been trying to find someplace else to live. We applied at a place on the 6th.. And they've been yanking our chains and endless phone tag since then. This weekend is the last weekend we can easily move before the power gets cut off next wednesday. So hopefully they call today or we're going to have to go some place more expensive or back to mooching off another family member until they call, which we really don't want to have to do -.-

The price of textbooks for college/university is ridiculous! Especially if you're going into graduate school like I am.

So, I have to take this crap class called Leadership and Motivation and the textbook for it is selling for a whopping $242 on campus! I looked it up on Amazon and it was only $92. That's a freakin' rip-off and for no other reason than they can get away with it! >:(
