I am going to bed now. Have to get up early for work. Mandatory overtime on weekends right now. Goodnight everyone and have a great night.

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

So glad to hear you are finally getting a much needed break Evans! I'm sure your family is happy to spend some time with you. I vote for drooling on yourself :).

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Going to bed shortly. Gonna update my progress on the book I'm currently reading, make a couple of posts, and then off to bed. Have a great night everyone!

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Cooking dinner right now. It will be ready around 6. Still need to take a shower and pick a friend up at 7. Guess I'll be signing off in a few minutes.

Ouch! Sorry Adam. Hope you get better soon.

While wife watches UNDER THE DOME.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

What? You didn't want to watch it with her? BAD husband! LOL

message 10: by Philip (new)

Philip McClimon (philmwrites) | 4 comments I was DOME adjacent. She had my full support...between chapters ofcourse.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

There ya go!

message 12: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments My wife sat in the same room and at first she was playing on the computer, but by the end she was engrossed. I was mentally picking it apart because I read the book. It was interesting to see how she reacted with no previous knowledge of the story line. I was trying to figure out why Barbie was burying Peter in the woods. What was that about?

message 13: by Rick (new)

Rick Shepard I started Under the Dome a few days ago, and even though I just went past page 800, I still have a novel worth of pages to go..something like 265 pages. I taped the show so I could watch it as soon as I finish the book. Is there anyone else who has read this, and who is a little nervous about how good this will be as a series? I'm loving the book, but I almost think I'd rather see it as a one-shot, or better yet mini-series.

message 14: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments I wish I had reread it recently,, Rick. Some of the details in the show don't ring at all true to the novel, which is to be expected, but it seems like there was a major rewrite here. I will keep watching and try to enjoy it for what it is. How do you like the book? I loved it.

So far I love it. In spite of the size of his tomes, I think Stephen King does a great job of pulling you into the world he creates. By the way, I've never had the opportunity to read a book by you and/or Evans, and I'd really like to. Would you be willing to suggest a good place to start?

message 16: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments That is a tough one, Rick. I would say just about any off our stories. Maybe The Corpus Corruptum for a sampling of both of our short stories. Only 0.99, so it is a bargain. Or check out Taken,, Way Out Of Here, Crawlspace or Arboreatum. Thanks for giving us a shot, either way.

message 17: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (shazzacatzz) | 45 comments under the dome has just started here in Oz...I read it when it was first published and so far (half an hour in) it seems to be sticking to the actual story line... mind you... the actor from Breaking Bad...can't remember his name is not who I would picture for Big Jim... I think his Breaking Bad persona is too much in my mind

message 18: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (shazzacatzz) | 45 comments I'm cranky I lent my copy of Dome... want to check some details... may have to buy an ebook of it seems:-)

message 19: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments I ended up DVRing Under the Dome last night, and hope to watch at least a couple at a time. I hate waiting each week. That's how I did Bates Motel as well, which I really enjoyed.

Thanks for that link Evans....saves me a few $$$ until I can get my copy back :-)
I hadn't realised that it wasn't going to be a one off mini series. It's being screened on a channel I rarely watch, so have missed all the promos and only knew it was on because a friend was talking about it

message 22: by Brittany (new)

Brittany (crackedx_spine) I got Under the Dome when it was released in paperback hoping I could read it before the show... not expecting it to be 1,000+ pages. I knew King books were lengthy, but wow.

I wasn't able to stay awake last night to watch the show and I don't have DVR, so I'm hoping maybe it's on On Demand later... I've been reading -- thankfully no spoilers, not that I'd know the difference -- how the book is completely different.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

I am getting ready to pick a friend up and go somewhere. May or may not be able to check back on the group later tonight, but I will definitely check in tomorrow after work. Hope you guys are having fun and enjoying the group!

message 24: by Brittany (new)

Brittany (crackedx_spine) Just finished watching last night's Under the Dome and I'm so confused. Nothing made any sense. I hope it gets better; the hype didn't live up to my expectations.

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Just finished cooking dinner and now it is time to do the second draft of my latest short story. It is about 10k words. In for a long night.

message 26: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments Grocery store and check writing done for another week for my 93-year-old grandmother. We have 'Grandma night' every Tuesday. She'll be 94 on July 20. For her 92nd birthday, she had her first motorcycle ride. For her 93rd birthday, she wanted a longer motorcycle ride, which she received (probably 8-10 miles). Now she wants one even longer, so I think we're taking a group to a town about 25 miles away so she gets a longer ride for her 94th. What a great gal!

You gonna do a whole draft of 10k in one night?

I'm attempting to get about 5 hours worth of stuff finished in one hour. 12:30 a.m. is my absolute cutoff time to stay up because I get up at 5:30 a.m. every morning. Ahhh!!

I think you got Adam and me mixed up. Here's an easy way to tell us apart using our pictures. I'm the one looking forward at you smiling, and he's the one looking sideways at me in admiration and a touch of jealousy. :-)

Noooooo you guys ( imagine me saying this in a whiny 16 year old voice) It was a badly phrased comment...the reference to being on vacation was aimed at the fact that I was going to do some gardening, which isn't something I do on a normal Wednesday.. because I am on vacation. I only mix up siblings when theye are directly related to me!

Might wait for it to come out on dvd then...could be a fun mother daughter bonding movie.

We probably do have identical brains...and we share an equally strong penchant for sarcasm.

Well I've yet to read any of Evans work (I definitely will soon though, I have a limited edition of Screamscapes that I'm dying to dive into,) but may I recommend Adam's Vengeance By The Foot?

4:50 p.m. and the weather here is getting ready to be wicked. 70 m.p.h. winds have been reported. Think I will sign off the computer for a bit. Hope everyone is having a great day!

message 46: by Brittany (new)

Brittany (crackedx_spine) I think that's a sibling thing, Evans. Although I wonder if it could really be considered sarcasm and not, hmm, smart assery among brothers. Unlike me, I'm just a smart ass and sarcastic with everyone. It gets me in a load of trouble, when people don't know me.

Cindy, stay safe! We're under thunderstorm advisory here, yet it's sunny still... hm.
