Continuation of the last thread, which was closed due to it's size being so large.

Sara Rosett | 30 comments Happy to find the new thread!

I just finished The King's Jar A Dani O'Rourke Mystery by Susan C. Shea . It's about a museum and missing art, which I always love, and it had some fun secondary characters. Really liked it.

message 9: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 797 comments Just finished Nearly Departed in Deadwood (Deadwood Mystery, #1) by Ann Charles and really liked it. Can't wait to read more of this series.

Melissa | 324 comments I just finished Death in the Orchid Garden Death in the Orchid Garden by Ann Ripley . This was my first read by this author. I read it due to it's being set in Hawaii and I was on a trip.

I found it really slow and hard to get through. There were so many characters, it was really hard to keep people straight. Also the descriptions were kind of over-done and I didn't like the main character, she came across as kind of uppity or something. I probably wouldn't have finished it, but I just about always finish a book or a movie once I start it.

I wonder what others think of this author?

I have liked them all, as well, the plots are always a bit different. my favorite is still Brat Farrar.
Miss Pym disposes was Really different, almost not a mystery at all, but I loved Tey's style.

message 12: by Emily (new)

Emily | 3 comments I finished reading Book, Line and Sinker by Jenn McKinlay. I really like this series. Have enjoyed the three I've read so far.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Melissa wrote: "Just finished Nearly Departed in Deadwood (Deadwood Mystery, #1) by Ann Charles and really liked it. Can't wait to read more of this series."

I really enjoyed that whole series, but it rapidly stops being 'cozy' at, I think, the second book.

message 14: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1192 comments I just finished The Quick and the Thread (An Embroidery Mystery, #1) by Amanda Lee . I liked the story and the characters but (view spoiler)

Mary (Biblophile) | 4610 comments Just finished The Evil that Men Do by Jeanne M. Dams , which I liked, and Father Knows Death by Jeffrey Allen . Deuce's views and sarcastic wit remind me a lot of the Tim Cockney's Hitchcock Sewell undertaker series.

Read this one a few months back. I thought the ending very Agatha Christie-esque (along the lines of And Then There Were None).

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I finished The Diva Frosts a Cupcake a couple of days ago and promptly forgot all about it. Says a bit about the book...

Cindy (cindy120) I'm not a camping person but I really enjoy the Frannie Shoemaker campground mysteries. I just finished the second one and see that the first one is free right now. I would recommend both as very enjoyable reads!

But why does he feel the need to know where she is but even in the first book when he shows up on her porch at night or in her house that's creepy.
I hope the relationship goes somewhere in the next book

I believe, in the second book, there's an explanation for his being able to find her (view spoiler). I didn't get the stalker vibe from him at all. I think he and the 14th street gang are the most entertaining parts of the series so far! :)

Ingham , which I got as a freebie a while back and really enjoyed it.

Not another love triangle! :~ There is one in her older series that has gone on far too long.

This one is my favorite new cozy this year. :)

Mary (Biblophile) | 4610 comments Just finished Death of Yesterday (Hamish Macbeth, #29) by M.C. Beaton . Although I still like the series, I'm beginning to think it's losing it's appeal. The charm and coziness seems to be gone and it just felt tired and lifeless.

I definitely think you should, Heidi!! The Rebecca Robbins series is a good one, too. Did you decide if you were going to give her YA, The Testing (The Testing, #1) by Joelle Charbonneau , a shot? It's a pretty good read.

I finished Living and Dying in the Hamptons last night and loved it. You enablers who read books with ghosts (you know who you are) need to grab this one. It's been free and it's very well written and witty.

I have the second one lined up but I believe I'm going to have to buy [bookcover:A Custom-Fit Crime: A Magical Dressmaking Mystery|15808635]

yay! can't wait to hear your thoughts on it! I've had my eye on her other series, but I haven't yet picked up the first one - Melodie gives it high recs. I think I'll save it for one of the slow, low-new-releases months. :)
