So... who is reading or have read The Bean Trees? What are your thoughts?

Brandi Wamsley | 52 comments Are we just reading The Bean Trees b/c the book that I got a message about us reading is actually three books in one.

We are just reading the Bean Trees for now... we will come back and read the others later... if they are any good! I picked up my book at the library and its a pretty short book, 246 pages... but there are several different covers available, but they are all the same story! Hopefully that helps.....

I very rarely read the summary of the books when it wasn't my pick... In this case after chapter one I am a little confused what this book will be about. "Taylor" so she calls herself is all over the place telling her past... And then the unexpected event at the restaurant has me like hummmm...

Ebony (quietstorm08) | 142 comments Mod
So far, I really like "Taylor" - so she calls herself and Turtle! They are my favorite....

I am working toward Taylor and Turtle meeting Lou Ann and her son... at least i think that is what will happen next!

Brandi Wamsley | 52 comments I am a little behind. Taylor just got the little girl and is at the motel. I am a little confused as to why someone would just take a kid that someone gave you. I would have called the cops or something.

Don't worry Brandi, I am always behind. I thought that too... i would have gave that lady the baby back and left! especially a baby, when you are driving around states, i would be scared the police would think i kidnapped it!

Brandi Wamsley | 52 comments I know, right? I'm really not exactly sure where this book is going.

Ebony (quietstorm08) | 142 comments Mod
Me either!!!!! And I'm half way in .......

Ok sorry for my delay on comments...I like the author thus far but it is allowed to say she has "too much detail" to the theme. It makes it hard to remember what was going on. I like the two diff stories that are going along I'm anxious to see if they meet up...some moments sizzle with humor, and some are rich in description. The dark schemes--abandonment, abuse, etc are underscored by irony and humor, and the action is colored by interesting characters. Still at times the book seems to go off on tangents (when Taylor works at burger place, when searching for apt) and its cluttered with to many subplots to count...

Brandi Wamsley | 52 comments I totally agree. My biggest problem is that I have no idea where this book is going.

Ebony (quietstorm08) | 142 comments Mod
I have 30 pages left.... And I'm still trying to find out the point! Lmao!

Completed! - i didn't care much for this author, and dont know if i will read another one... but i liked the ending1

Brandi Wamsley | 52 comments It amazes me how long it took for someone other than the friends she told, to realize that Turtle wasn't her kid. I know this was set a few decades back, but still.

Ebony (quietstorm08) | 142 comments Mod
Brandi did you get a chance to complete the book?

Brandi Wamsley | 52 comments Finally finished it. It was cute and a little odd. Definitely not a literary masterpiece.

Ebony (quietstorm08) | 142 comments Mod
Yeah, i know! Tina swears it was on the BEST SELLERS list.. but I dont know about that! I definitely would not recommended it!

are you going to read The Hit with us? You would like it, if you like suspense books!

Brandi Wamsley | 52 comments Mystery suspense or Stephen King suspense?

Ebony (quietstorm08) | 142 comments Mod
I have never read a Stephen King book (dont tell anyone that)! :)

I would say neither... more like action packed suspense. Suspense books that are so good it could be a movie! At least that is my opinion.
