What are some phrases or words that you think are used too often in books or that just annoy you or drive you crazy?

Soreonne | 81 comments In falling into you I swear they described everything as HOt. I was seriously mad that I couldn't finish the book. It was ridiculous

Kelli (kvshutt) | 81 comments It could just be me, but I want to throw my kindle out the window when an author uses "sex" as a body part . for instance- "he touched my sex." or "my throbbing sex." etc.

I'm not sure if it's a word used differently internationally or something like that, but I know here in New England/Maine it's a verb lol. Just my pet peeve I suppose :p

Jenn Sternshein (bookdorkjenn) | 93 comments yeah that cracks me up too.... It's probably just me but i hate when the female in the book blushes constantly, like every chapter, at first it may be cute but after you've gotten it on with a guy why are you blushing, lol

Diamond Drake (diamondthewriter) | 152 comments The over use of metaphors drives me nuts. Why does everything have to be compared to something ESPECIALLY during scenes that are supposed to be sensual? "Oooh, you got me as wet as the Pacific AND the Atlantic ocean!" "I'm coming as hard as a tornado touching down in a trailer park!" Seriously? Maybe it's just me, but I don't get what's sexy about that.

Kelli (kvshutt) | 81 comments bahahahaha there's nothing sexier than a torn up trailer park ;)

Lol omg you guys are too funny. I completely agree with all of you! I can't take the book seriously after these types of things. It just throws off my entire reading mood. :(
