Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments All authors and bloggers wishing to advertise need to read post 2 as well. Thank You.

The mods and members would like to welcome you to Rated YA-MA, a group for adults who enjoy reading Young Adult fiction.

Here is the rundown on YA-MA :

1. We like to have fun in our group. We try not to take ourselves too seriously. Off-topic conversations and mild teasing is the norm around here.

2. This is a group for readers to chat with other readers in an environment which hopefully feels more like a gathering between friends and less like an advertisement board. Authors are welcome to join in on the conversations, as long as they are chatting as fellow readers and not as promoters.

3. If you're new to the group, we'd love to welcome you here in our introduction topic (no self-promotion, please). If you have a blog, twitter, facebook, website, etc. you'd like to share (links only), you're welcome to post them in our Member Directory.

4. The genre folders are mod-run and all topics are added to the folders by the mods. Any other topics will be deleted.

5. The book chat folder is open to all members for starting conversational topics about books, as long as the topics are not promotional in nature. Refer to post number 2 for what may or may not be considered promotional.

6. Unsure how to post a picture or make a spoiler tag? Stop by our How Tos topic for some instruction.

7. We have a variety of activities happening at all times. Here are some links to the various folders or topics with our current activities.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments A note for authors and bloggers wishing to advertise :

1. New book promotions which are mentioned anywhere in the group (including the introduction topic) will be deleted without notice. All new promotional topics made by anyone other than the mods will also be deleted. The only place we allow promotions is the author promotion topic.

*This includes self-promotion, friend or family promotion, and agent/agency or publisher promotion.

2. Research topics (even if for school or general opinion) may be considered promotion. Please ask a moderator before making a research topic, in order to see if it will be something that will work for the group.

3. Bloggers have their own topic for giveaways and contests located here.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 5137 comments I think I got all of our info back. Please post if you think I missed something.

Wendy, you're welcome to add any traveling book info if you wish to.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) A big welcome to two long time members who've joined us as new Moderators of YA-MA

YA-Ma is now at nearly 3300 members! Yay! As the group has grown, and as we've all been juggling the group along with our own personal lives, we've all banded together and asked Isa and Gremlin to come on as moderators!

Thank you, to the both of you, for helping us make try to make the group better. Look forward to co-moderating with you! :)

Basic rules still apply:

In order to participate you must meet this basic member criteria:
♦ All participating members must provide an external email address as they are added to the list. If you would feel more comfortable, you can PM these to Wendy F.
♦ All participating members have been a part of YA-MA for a minimum of 3 months.
♦ All participating members have a minimum of 25 comments made in the group.
♦ All participating members still take part occasionally in topics.
♦ We prefer that all participating members must meet all criteria. However, if you meet at least one, and would still like to participate, you will be asked to ship the book out via UPS, FedEx or registered mail, with a valid tracking number that will be forwarded both to me and to the person who is next to receive the book.

When it is your turn with the Traveling Book, here are the guidelines. Please note that they don't have to be followed, but they're what adds to the fun of this idea.

1. Feel free to add a few notes on the pages, or highlight favorite lines. It'll add to the next person's read.

2. Sign inside the front cover of the book.

3. Include a local postcard, or use a snapshot where you live. Jot a greeting if you feel so inclined.

4. My favorite part, post a picture or two in this thread of you with our traveling book. (This isn't necessary, just fun. You can get creative with your picture too, if you prefer not to show your face. It's fun to watch the book move in this thread.)

5. This is done on our merit, so everyone will have to pay the shipping to the next person on the list, which means that everyone will pay for shipping once. This may mean that a few of us will pay shipping Internationally.

In addition, this list is not going to be compiled in a first come first serve manner. As people join you will be arranged in terms of optimal shipping. Our goal is to keep each person's shipping costs down by shipping the smallest distance that we can (it doesn't always work with International shipments), and to minimize damage that may be caused by shipping. (thanks for understanding.)

6. Please read and mail out the book within 10 days of receiving it so that the book moves steadily.

In the end the traveling book will be returned to it's original owner along with all the goodies to treasure. It is our hope that they will then take a picture of all the postcards and paste that here in the group for all to see.

Come one come all, join in the sharing experience. We are going to say that if the book has exited your side of the world, the opportunity to join will have passed, so get your names in quickly.

(Please specify for this round, which book(s) you would like to join for, along with your location.)
