Sheesh I totally forgot it was the first of the month! My mind is a constant blur lately.
Regardless it's nomination time.

First twelve nominations will be put up on a poll so no need to vote or second on this thread.

If you nominate the book you are the one leading the discussion and remember we are trying to break the books down into parts for varying threads and one spoiler thread. How you break it up is up to you but we are trying to accomodate those that have read and those that are reading the books.

The book with the most nominations will lead off July and the book with the second most nominations will take over the middle of the month.

Nominate only one book.

Nominations close when I get 12 or by Sunday, which ever comes first.

Thanks,
Tera

Rose (roseo) Oh yes!
I've heard this is good!The Handmaid's Tale-Margaret Atwood

GR description:

"In the world of the near future, who will control women's bodies?

Offred is a Handmaid in the Republic of Gilead.
She may leave the home of the Commander and his wife once a day to walk to food markets whose signs are now pictures instead of words because women are no longer allowed to read.
She must lie on her back once a month and pray that the Commander makes her pregnant, because in an age of declining births, Offred and the other Handmaids are only valued if their ovaries are viable.

Offred can remember the days before, when she lived and made love with her husband Luke; when she played with and protected her daughter; when she had a job, money of her own, and access to knowledge.
But all of that is gone now....

Funny, unexpected, horrifying, and altogether convincing, The Handmaid's Tale is at once scathing satire, dire warning, and tour de force."

I would have nominated something for July, but I am going to be gone on vacation a chunk of the month, and was afraid I would not be able to do a discussion justice if my book was picked and then I was not available to lead. I am happy to vote on what has been nominated so far!

message 16: by Holli (new)

Holli 8 noms so far... is this closed now Tera?

message 17: by Joy (new)

Joy (joy85) | 94 comments Family Trust by Amanda Brown. I really enjoyed this book and I feel like it's a different book/speed than some of the other books on here. It is chick-lit and nothing "important", but it's a nice read and deals with people from two totally different backgrounds in a nice way.

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) My nomination is non fic and a bit different than our recent reads: The Unlikely Lavender Queen A Memoir of Unexpected Blossoming
