"Highly organized research in guaranteed to produce nothing new." Frank Herbert

Wait... they're doing a study on that.

Roger is a genius. Not only does he bring us Malco who is so young yet so strong, clever, handsome, adept with weapons and strategy and loyal to Hannibal (and a great leader himself with the men under Malco's command) but Mr. Kean also uses your left side to cure you of the intolerably annoying hiccups.
He brought to life Juba and Trebon who are both men of great honor and men of great affection too. It is from a time more than two thousand years ago but Roger makes it all seem alive, immediate and vibrant today.

I want to get back to Carthage again (for real, it's a great place, a small part of Tunis), but a bit later than Malco's time, forward to the reign of Antoninus Pius. But I fear ol' Haary will have to come first.

But it's awfully hard to not keep reading. ;)

I was always told, a chapter a day keeps the doctor away.

No? No! You can keep that doctor. I'm ready to scream because I want a Doctor who travels through time and space, not one that tortures British agents who are trying to make the world safe for Queen, country and Royal babies.

For the record, I want my Doctor back too, but it doesn't look all that promising (for a mulit-Doctor story that is). Sigh.

Maybe I should get the Big Finish audio stories instead ...

Whoa! I want that ...
I've been trying to avoid the audiobooks, but my reserve is unravelling fast...

I want to know who's going to be the new Doctor, and I want to know right now!

To be honest though, it would be nice to know once and for all just so the little hints and speculations can die down. On the other hand, that would just lead to different forms of speculation and hints, wouldn't it? Sigh ...

If some cute (alien) boy walked up to me, smiled and said "Spoilers." I swear I would just melt. ;)

I suppose. But I'm just beside myself with antici...pation.

Snickers.
I wish I liked River, I really do, but she started driving me up the wall in Silence In the Library - the very first time she says "sweetie" my teeth were clinching and I knew, I knew I was going to be a very unhappy person for a while. Sigh.
Romance between companions and other characters in Doctor Who I can handle. The Doctor as the center of focus for a romance - NOPE. He's an alien. He's never interested in such mundane things and I hope the next show runner goes back to no romance with the Doctor.

I have finally gotten a friend to start watching Doctor Who and I've been re-watching the DVDs before I lend them to her. I just finished watching the 3rd Series and I was reminded of how much I liked Martha, but was so annoyed at how she got shafted because the Doctor just kept mooning over his lost Rose. I've been a fan for very long, but I think I can see what you mean. I do enjoy River, in part because her timeline and the Doctor's were so out of snyc - no that this is not an issue, and most of the spoilers have been spoiled, the queerness of their relationship doesn't have the same magic. I would LOVE to see her show up again after good long break though - maybe use her needing to be rescued again, that was so much fun. But I also realize that from the production stand point it is probably time to move on.

Thank you for bring up these issues because I had not thought of the cohort relationships before.
Maybe more people would be interested in discussing Whovian matters. One of you could create a Doctor Who topic in the section for Topics Created by Members… or not. Feel free to continue to keep your comments here in I'm ready to scream because… or take advantage of Topics Created by Members to involve The Doctor more visibly in the Complaint Department.

"Bite me alien boy!" ;)
I'm ready to scream because there is so much bad, I mean really bad, music out there!!

Truth

But why is there so much really bad music out there?
Everyone's taste is different. I'm basically referring to those artists out there who are famous but can't sing. Those that think they can sing, but need the special tools to aid their voices, etc. I'm very picky, I guess:-) A list would be good, Preston:-)
Saw Pat Benatar last month, now there is a women who can sing! Her husband is a fantastic muscician too!

We should ban bad singers and bad songs
Banned
Elvis Presley
Tom Jones
German Oom pah bands
Austrailian Hip Hop
National Anthems
Irish music mentioning shamrocks
French music
Polkas
Protest music
All Non-western music
Country and western music
Old English ballads
Non-secular music
Music of the Republic of Madagascar
Educational children's song
Songs sung while sitting around campfires
Broadway musicals
This is just a start. We can add on others.
Wow, Preston, quite the list! You don't like Elvis? So my singing while driving likely is similar to singing around a campfire.

most classical music (especially piano/guitar music)
modern classical music (except for soundtrack music)
a good majority of 60s rock music
some 70s rock music
One Direction/Most boy bands
Taylor Swift
any and all earworms since earworms are usually of music I hate
...

I would love to sing around the campfire with you, your beautiful man and your puppies and singing in the car is fun as long as you don't tap the gas pedal to the beat of the music.
This list has nothing to do with my tastes in music. The indigenous music of Madagascar is in fact magnificent to my ears as is much nonwestern music. I could do without broadway musicals though :)
The point of the list was to show how oppressive and repressive it would be to enslave ourselves to only the "correct" music as Russia did under Stalin when my favorite composer Dimitri Shostakovich was frequently in danger of being forever silenced. And like Putin is has done to Russian pop artists whose music offended him.
I was hoping someone would get indignant about the idea of banning any music at all.
I'm listening to Shostakovich 24 Preludes and Fugues Opus 87 which under Lori's list would be banned because it is played on piano and is classical. You fascist! <-grin->
I would agree with restrictions on an individual's personal music while in public by requiring earphones except at concerts in the park or street festivals. I hate loud boom boxes. But banning any music at all, even horrific boy bands, is like banning any genre of books.
You can come and sing with us anytime, Preston:-)
You make very smart points!
At work, can't say any more at this time:-)

That was kinda what I was getting at when I wrote "Yes, there is but everyone defines "bad" in their own unique way. But it is extremely frustrating to have to listen to music that one believes is bad when others seem to love it." So much for tact.
How's this: FASCIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How dare you ban my music!

That was kinda what I was getting at when I wrote "Yes, there is but everyone defines "bad" in..."

Woody Guthrie ("This Land is Your Land") had a guitar with "This machine kills Fascists" written on it.

Now THAT MAN knew how to fight like an American - with MUSIC!
