Emma what specifically did you like in the hunger games? The setting, the main idea, the struggle for survival, or the characters? That way I can get a better understanding of what kind of book I can recommend to you... Also do you like science fiction?

Is the host just Twilight but with aliens?

For those who like a little mythology or Percy Jackson, there is a series called Seven Wonders. The first one is called The Colossus Rises. The second is Lost In Babylon. My guess is there will be seven books, one for each wonder.

There is this other series called The Infinity Ring. It's history but fun. Basically, there are good people called the historians. The bad are the SQ. These kids have to go back in time and fix the breaks in history to set things right. But the time warden(people looking out for time travellers) and the SQ are on guard.

That sounds pretty cool. Do they have to disguise themselves in the past to fit in or do they use their advanced technology to do special things?

message 23: by Emma (new)

Emma (artistwriterperson) | 2 comments So I was thinking about reading Anthem, then writing an essay about it for a scholarship to a college, and I was wondering if anyone had read it. I read the Wikipedia summary and it sounded good, but it was written in 1937, so I don't know

Has anyone here read the Artemis Fowl series? It's about a teenaged criminal genius who kidnaps a fairy. Only thing is, the fairies aren't quite what he expected.
It's really good, and a kind of sci-fi fantasy blend. I would even go so far as to say it's as good as Harry Potter

I just finished Insurgent (Bk. 2) and it's amazing. If you like dystopian (like the Hunger Games), sci-fi, fantasy or even just romance, I'd recommend it.

Agreed! I read them a while ago but they are really good

Maya wrote: "Do you think I should read the Host if I read and liked Divergent, The Hunger Games, and Matched?"

Personally, I didn't really like the Matched series - the first book was good but it kinda went downhill from there. I agree with Divergent and The Hunger Games, though - they are great! If you like dystopian books (post-apocalyptic) I would also recommend The Maze Runner, The Darkest Minds, Incarnate and Under the Never Sky (I haven't had the chance to read these yet but I have heard really good things about them - take a look!) :) hope that helps!

message 44: by Rosie (new)

Rosie (rosie32) I recommend The Knife of Never Letting Go (the chaos walking series) by Patrick Ness. It is absolutely amazing and the characters are awesome- however it may break your heart :(. The Maze Runner series is also awesome, the plot is really good. Noughts and Crosses (and the rest of the series) is really really good as well. Its by Malorie Blackman and I think she is one of the best authors. :)
