Todd (hpl_geek) | 14 comments What is your favorite Mythos anthology that is not a HPL collection? I've got a ton (seriously, over 100) but I'm always looking for new ones or suggestions from the bookshelf. It seems that the trend in recent years is combining new weird fiction and either the Mythos proper or Lovecraftian themes. This is fun, but I miss old school Mythos stories - additions to the cannon like "The Revelations of Glaki" or even quality pastiches.

So, what are your favorite Mythos-focused anthologies?

Elena (elmatpe) | 1 comments I just love the anthologies that are being released by Chaosium, (even if their covers are horrible) most of these stories would had been impossible for me to find otherwise! I think it is great that Mr. Price organizes the anthologies around a certain Great Old One, Elder God, book or place rather than just picking a bunch of random Cthulhu Mythos stories and putting them in a volume. I really enjoyed The Ithaqua Cycle in particular but there's always some amazing stories in every Cycle.

But If we are talking of anthologies of Mythos authors, I'm going with either Robert. W. Chambers' "The King in Yellow", CAS' "Hyperborea" and "Zothique" or Ramsey Campbell's works (the anthology I have is titled "Cold Print" just like Y'Golonac's story but I think there's another anthology out there). I just can't pick one!!

And, yes, Campbell's Revelations of Glaaki was a great addition to the Mythos indeed! :D

Todd (hpl_geek) | 14 comments I agree about the Chaosium collections. Robert Price was a literary hero of mine for years because of his introductions in those. Say what you will about Derleth, but I like Ithaqua stories.

I actually haven't read much Chambers beyond The King in Yellow. I guess I felt like I had after The Hastur Cycle, but in looking over my collection I don't think I have that many of his stories. I know Joe Pulver is a huge Chambers fan. I'll have to keep an eye out for a collection of his work.

As far as Anthologies, I just finished The Book of Cthulhu and was really impressed. I also really enjoyed Night Voices, Night Journeys and Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos. Shadows over Baker Street was surprisingly good (if a little uneven). The Victorian-era suits Mythos tales well, IMHO.

My last acquisition was Acolytes of Cthulhu - Another Price collection. Expecting great things there but still a few books to finish before I can get to that.
