Chicks On Lit discussion

It is time to pick our next group reads for the fall. We will do it again in this thread rather than through nominations and voting polls. The reason for this is so that we can discuss potential books and see if we have enough excitement about a particular one to generate a group read and discussion leader.

With that said is there any book you would like to discuss and/or lead in the upcoming month(s)? Share with us the book and maybe what about it makes you want to dive into it. If you're unsure if it's a book from a previous group read just check the bookshelf it has all the books we've read.

If someone else nominates a book you would be willing to read and discuss, chime in and say so.

We can plan on reading and discussing the top two books, one in October and one in November, to give people time to get copies of the books and read them.

I had interest in a book. Someone told me about it and it sounded interesting. I don't think we read it in this group yet. It is fairly new. The plot goes back and forth in the main character's lifetime.

And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini

I second Julie's nomination for And The Mountains Echoed. I recently bought the book but haven't read it yet. It would be fun to do so as part of a group.

I was going to nominate "And the Mountains Echoed" but was afraid to name anything after the July read that none of us really liked. So, I am on board for And the Mountains Echoed, if we pick that one.

I would like to nominate "The Secret Keeper" - Kate Morton, I recently purchased it but have yet to read it.

Great choices ladies. I am looking forward to reading both of these. I hope many other "chicks" will consider joining us in reading and discussing these two books.

I'll be in Europe for the first half of October and not likely to be online, but I am putting the November discussion on my calendar to make sure I get the book read before then. Looking forward to it!

Should we read beforehand and be ready to discuss the whole book in October? I'm trying to plan when I need to get Life After Life out from the library.

For the regular group reads the plan is usually read before had so we are ready to discuss the whole book. That is what I am going to do.

I checked my library and almost all of the copies available were checked out or put on hold. Even the audiobook and electronic books were checked out.

You have lots of time though Jayme. We are taking a break for September, and will discuss one of these for October and one for November. :-)

I am going to check with my school library as well.

I did mention The Secret Keeper as a nomination. But I'm also up for Life after Life. Sounds like a good and interesting read.
